India at that time was the richest country in the world!!.. Their was no country at that time can compare to india!!! Most beautiful and wonderful country in the world..
I believe the treasure should return to India and led the Indian tell the story of there heritage will make the gem and jewry more alive and meaningful to each and every piece of jewelry. This looks like they one the stolen items to be legal belong to the new owners and it's already done, stolen is considered dirty, there is nothing can make this gem shining or sparkle to clean is shine against.
What an impressive show! Awesome! So enjoyable. I did not the Indian influence on jewelry was that extensive. Clearly not observing. There it all was in the history. India is a focal point of jewelry going forward.
because this is not supposed to be educational, but a propaganda piece for Qatar and its oil-enriched Al Thani rulers who buy up art and history for their various collections, without having a clue of culture or history. THAT is what hitting the jackpot of oil does: wealth of cash, no wealth of urbanity or civilizaiton
True INDIA is respectful & Diversity country is one of Jewel or heart of ASIA that forgotten by West & East. I dream to travel the land of gemstone and precious stone. Sad to say British colonies and killed millions of people and stole the treasure.
I really think it would had been enough to see these people one time and then let them talk over videos and pictures of the artefacts . We see to much of them.
Interesting program, I would have liked to spend more time looking at the jewels and less at the city of Venice and the sparkling reflectors hanging from the lights.
Make no mistake these jewels were never belonged to ordinary Indians. Before the British India was divided into 800 kingdoms, fighting with each other. To win their selfish battle they often taken help of foreign invaders .They must have paid them in jewels, their treasury were depleted due to fighting . Thanks to the people who saved them for us to see & to understand what cruelty was meted out to the ordinary Indians.
All the workmen ,crafts men,and jewel makers were Hindu . The fashioned these exquisite jewels for the person in Power Often a God or Goddess,if not a human one!
Alvsolutely stunning. It really surprises me that the Prince is selling the collection. Being a multi, multi-billionaire, you'd think that he wouldn't ever sell. With a collection like this, in theory, it would only appreciate over time.
Ma che collezione meravigliosa !!! Descrizione, musica e presentazione fantastica. L'ho adorato !!! Anche l'italiano stupendo con i capelli bianchi. Solo in Italia vediamo questa specie.Belissimos !!!
I just knew there would be some comments about stolen culture and the responses from nimrods who don't want to own their culture's role in that theft. But it is also interesting to see comments from Indians who have a "different or non-popular viewpoint". I'll never forget having a teacher who lived in Italy during Mussolini's rule and had a VERY different opinion of him from what is normally published.
British declared war on us and defeated us in the war. Though their means of warfare were questionable from an Indian cultural perspective, we never stood a chance against them with their well organized military and guns. Our rulers should have tried to open themselves to cultures outside India and keep up with the world. India lost its war because of Inefficient rulers and it's citizens sunk in superstition and caste divisions.
@@abhin.v4981 That’s not what happened. The east India company traded with small princely states and traded with them, moving closer and closer to the Mughal empire when it was at its weakest. The EIC then declared war on the Mughal emperor which led to the collapse of the empire. The empire then broke up into many princely states which made deals with the EIC and then later the British empire for protection in exchange of indirect rule.
Gosh the number of negative comments about the "theft" and removal of these historic items from India. Yes some were stolen and yes some gifted - HOWEVER they were originally owned by a ruthless few - who had no respect of the millions of poor in their own country!!!!!
rodd22 someone talking like a sensible person.. truth hurts.. those who had it originally didnt do anything much for the betterment of their own people..so it was better stolen than being in someones possession as their personal collection
The jewels need to go back to India, from one pirate to another pirate, what ever the story was handed down to hundreds of generations, they were taken out of India, a lot of these people were blackmailed in order to stay alive and their people. They had no choice.
This would have been a good documentary. But the lighting on the jewelry was absolutely terrible. It was way to dark to see the reflection and sparkle of the metal and gems. It was like using a flashlight inside of a cave.
It really is a tragic double edged sword, admiring these priceless magnificent jewels... while there is no denying the exceptional skill required to create them, one simply cannot forget that for hundreds of years, millions of exploited and starving people slaved away in absolute squallor and died tragic deaths, just so that a select few people could swish around all day, every day, playing with priceless jewels (that could have fed, clothed, sheltered and educated hundreds of people, for years!)
But….if no one is willing to pay for the jewels…then how can the sale of jewels be used to benefit the less fortunate? That makes no sense. If a resource has no superficial value then it isn’t worth anything and can’t help anyone.
Europeans get ALL of their style and classism from the East, you may think they started it all but they just kept traditions like the rest of the major continents. Australia's history is more rudimentary I believe based on the the colonial lense we learn our culture through. Sad really...
Magnificent collection and very informative , maybe the world leaders today should learn (acceptance religious tolerance) from the great leader Akbar ! ;)
Loved the program but the music with the female contemporary singing is annoying. You'd think that Indian music instead of some kind for have been and easy chose.
these comments are all wrong. They belonged to Indian Princes, NOT the Mughal Emperors except sometimes and the British did NOT steal them! The Mughals were deposed AND rupeeless by the mid 19th century!
Breathtaking! No wonder, India was then called the golden bird!
Now it should be called the golden lion, because you can easily kill a bird, but killing a lion is a very difficult task to do.
India at that time was the richest country in the world!!.. Their was no country at that time can compare to india!!! Most beautiful and wonderful country in the world..
thats why every one came and looted and went back weastern countries always make foundations on looted money only example islam rulers britian rulers
So so Beautiful. The outstanding pieces.
The lovely location. 🙏🙌✌🌍🌞😎🕵🍀☺
What a delight and honour to view these beautiful pieces - thank you!!!!!!!!
Was hoping for images of jewelry, but the blurry light effect spoils the view.
See how t was in history... how many gemstone, jewelry was taken away from India, Burma or other country by England or Spain.
Wonderful video of extraordinary artistic work and mind blowing jewels!
👍🏼👏👏
Don’t disagree however Al Thani are not British or Europeans they bought these jewels in their collection.
I love all the gorgeous colors! Now, this is what I call jewels!
What an impressive show! Awesome! So enjoyable. I did not the Indian influence on jewelry was that extensive. Clearly not observing. There it all was in the history. India is a focal point of jewelry going forward.
So beautiful as well as educational. Thank you.
Not one of the magnificent jewels is shown for more than 2 seconds. Why is that? Can't really appreciate a piece in such a short bite
Possibly, will go to Christis after that exhibit

You rushed through every time I can't even get a good look at the jewelry gems

Parts of the collection have since been sold.
I really think it would had been enough to see these people one time and then let them talk over videos and pictures of the artefacts . We see to much of them.
Many were gifted and many of these gems were taken away

Read The Count of Montecristo A.Duma. The historical drama and has lots of information about those Imperial jewels.
So true my friend, nowadays we're just economic slaves tied to usurious mortgages, all so these swine can lord it up

Exquisite!
India still has Maharajas, heard of the Ambani tower in the slums?
Breathtaking
So..Beautiful💕
Beautiful Superb workmanship of the Indian jewlers-sadly stolen!
Stolen? More like sold and bought.
How come Al Thani came to posess so much priceless Indian gems and jewelry pieces, just wondering.
He bought them from old European collections.
Alvsolutely stunning. It really surprises me that the Prince is selling the collection. Being a multi, multi-billionaire, you'd think that he wouldn't ever sell. With a collection like this, in theory, it would only appreciate over time.

rodd22 Wow so that’s your justification for STEALING IT!?!
Now owned by another ruthless few. Who collected it all since what did he say? 2010? Too much money. Glad I can see these in this video, though.
Then why not to sell ( kash) it or return to the poor people of India? How many homless and starving children are there?
The rich always over throw the poor and treat them like non humans.

They’re still around just turned into business men and less extremely private lives to the point that people question their existence.
