  • Work day, my commute to the logging site, dragging sticks with a new Cat Weiler S350 skidder, processing beetle killed Lodgepole firewood, and fire planes loading water at the lake.

      It’s amazing to me, I was hoping to see them closer but I think they moved down due to so many boats

      Slow is fast. Rather have a driver that is safe and doesn’t beat up my equipment over a dude who gets it done slightly faster.

      I also have had back injury. Lower back, L4-L5. It’s no joke and to hell with the people saying slow skidder operator. The fact you were out there with a bad back is a testament to you sir. Chronic back pain sucks and it makes everything uncomfortable.

      @@joedavidson6556 you are correct, back injuries can be life changing, I’ve put a lot of time and intentional efforts into recovering past injuries and it really changes the perspective on many things in life. There are people who jump at any opportunity to assume something or make a rude comment. Thank you for watching!

    Random observations..
    The Weiler skidders are super quiet, love that.
    That Timberjack swing grapple is a rare bird, hardly ever see those.
    The Prentice track loader is another uncommon sight.
    The single wheel gooseneck is a new one on me...
    Is that a southstar head on the Cat?

    • @Pioneer_Classic_Trucks
      @Pioneer_Classic_Trucks  Рік тому +2

      Yes, the Weiler skidder is super nice and quiet, pretty enjoyable to operate actually. The Cat has a Waratah head on it. The gooseneck trailer is a customer’s rig, made from an old farm truck cut in half it appears.

      We had a swing boom Timberjack just like like this one on a small operation I worked for in the Black Hills of South Dakota (ours was green instead of red). I actually liked it quite a bit. I've not seen one since.

    IS all equipment removed from work location before winter sets up and makes ingress\egress untenable ?

    • @Pioneer_Classic_Trucks
      @Pioneer_Classic_Trucks  Рік тому +2

      Usually the equipment is moved to a site that can be worked during winter weather.

    Keep your thumbs out of the steering wheel

  • @biggussd5473
    @biggussd5473 5 місяців тому

    Why so slow? If you are bouncing out of the seat you are going too fast, if you are not bouncing out of the seat you are not going fast enough. Close the grapple as soon as you drop your hitch or you will stick that grapple through a rear tire if you run over a stump, but going this slow you don't have to worry about it.

      @@Pioneer_Classic_Trucks They inherited a great platform from Cat and have done nothing but improve on it. Torque for days and other than tires no downtime. I'll admt they are hard to see out of and have a small cab. But they are still an excellent competitor to Tigercat.

      The torque is good on that machine, seemed to pull pretty effortlessly.
