Like many commenters mentioned you missed a tiny detail, why the Fiesta dropped out of the sales charts: Ford stopped its production in Cologne for several months straight, because of interrupted logistics chains and prioritising more profitable models. Meanwhile engine and comfort options were canceled because of this, too. No wonder it isn't sold in high numbers as before.
Spot on. Personally I don't like the new front very much. It's a bit too Korean for me. Keep driving my 2020 Titanium which has standard options that are for a reason skipped on the new Titanium model.
Absolutely right. I know someone who's had his ST delayed to the point where he had was unable to have the MK8 because they stopped making them. He's been told that this will be the last ST if not the last lot of Fiesta's.
@@stroopwafel6141 Good points. I think the older models are more elegant, but I think it's still a good looking car, and car design has gone rather aggressive pretty much across the board.
@@nigel.w It's not ugly for sure and (still) a fun car to drive. Ergonomics are pretty good, as is fuel consumption and road noise. But the competition is fierce in this segment.
And a lot better for the environment than real carbon fibre. And, in pictures at least, the real matt carbon fibre trim option shown on the Porsche configurator, for which Porsche wants more than a grand for about four thin strips, doesn't look any better. But, I was thinking the same as you when she said that. Better than the glossy black plastic that car makers are currently in love with. I guess I understand it more when it's a haptic interface, but I even tend to walk away from cars that have real piano wood veneers...looks wrong to me, scratches very easily, and also too easily looks terrible. Anyway, I think I'm right in saying that some makers are starting to ditch the glossy black plastic in favour of textured surfaces, except for haptic interfaces. I hope they soon ditch it for everything. I've already seen a haptic strip that looks a bit like textured wood.
I’ve had one since 2011, a diesel one. 11 years and 240,000 kms later it’s still going as strong as ever. Travelled from Victoria to Western Australia and back (9000 kms) and Brisbane to WA half a dozen times in 40+ heat with no worries. Beautiful car.
I guess you're a fanboy. Lots of their cars in the past were terrible starting off with the Escort RS2000 4x4 which lacked power, Escort RS Turbo Series 1 which had tonnes of understeer and the Capri which was too soft compared with cars such as the Manta GTE. The good cars were the MK1 Focus, Cortina, Fiesta XR2 and the early Mondeo's
@@asifnoaman8978 I guess you are a hater. Because you cherry pick 3 cars to make a statement. But the other hundreds of cars are famous for their handling. Ford is known for one of the best out of factory suspensions. Fiesta is famous for being sporty and fun. All their cars are famous for their suspension. The RS2000 Cosworth is a famous car. Ford made good rally history back than.
I love the Fiesta. I fully agree that Ford should have put Sync4 in the updated Fiesta here and not sure why they didnt. That aside, it doesn't need a hybrid or EV model. Its such a great driving experience that nothing in the segment can touch. Sadly people don't care about driving anymore. I think that is what is hurting the Fiesta. People just want appliance CUVs which is sad.
This couldn’t sum it up better. Everyone is buying SUV’s which means manufacturers are making SUV’s and not paying attention to the cars which are genuinely fun to drive😕 This could be why ford hasn’t payed attention to the fiesta by designing and engineering a larger battery fora plug in hybrid or electric model. I really hope they don’t stop doing the fiesta in 5-10 years time
@@Adamlllllllllllljjjljljjjjj I think Ford hope to ditch Fiesta and Focus as soon as possible. Unless there's a big u-turn, I think you can safely put money on the Fiesta being assigned to history in less than 5 years. I think significantly less.
There are no bargains to be had at the moment. A couple of years ago I bought a 1 year old Focus ST with 1000 miles on the clock for £10,000 less than the new price. Also, people tend to rent new cars these days. It’s like a house renter saying they have a lovely house. It’s not theirs.
I just purchased a 2017 Ford Fiesta S base model a few days ago from Carvana and am very happy with it. For a subcompact, it is not a tiny car, has great technology, and the interior is pretty elegant. I did not know that they were such a big deal in Europe!!!
They're likely to get a better position in France since there's a E85 version available. Very smart move, much more interesting and practical than any electric car.
So I ordered my ST X on 31th January this year, estimated delivery was June, we're now at October if everything goes after plan from now on (I bet it doesn't :D)... the thing is that Ford is prioritising the plants at Saarlouis and Valencia, they are doing extra shifts and the plant at Cologne doesn't get parts... I guess thats why it's hanging behind the other manufactureres, since the delivery time is enormous. Also they canceled features like mirror heating, BLIS and electrical folding mirrors (sorry Ford, but mirror heating?! 2 cables each mirror)... on the other side it's awesome to have a digital dash and also matrix led headlights... let's see how it goes. According to rumours Ford will permanently stop the production of the Fiesta in late 2023 or early 2024 to fully produce electrical SUVs at Cologne.
"According to rumours Ford will permanently stop the production of the Fiesta in late 2023 or early 2024 to fully produce electrical SUVs at Cologne." I hadn't heard that particular rumour, but it matches what else I have heard. I think Ford wants to ditch the Fiesta and Focus from its line-up ASAP.
I enquired in February about one , delivery in September and maximum 3 year PCP where as others offer 4. It made the difference of about £80 a month which pushed it way over budget. Nice car but starting to look very expensive now.
I suspected it was something to do with PCP and leasing deals. Ford also seems to be looking for an excuse to drop the Fiesta and Focus, as I understand they've already done in the US. Ford aren't the company they once were. Even before the 2008 financial crisis they had become relatively weak. Not sure what happened. Anyway, I think they want to end up with the Mustang as their only car, which they will electrify at some stage, probably hybridize first, and then have a range of crossovers/SUVs/pickup trucks/commercial vehicles, which they will also hybridize and electrify as soon as markets favour them, because that's where most profits lie.
I was offered a fiesta st3 on a 4 Yr pcp only yesterday from the main dealer. I wonder if it depends on what spec you'd choose st3's aren't the cheapest.
I bought a new 20 plate Fiesta 2 years ago naturally and I love it, never had any problem with it. It's so economical I can get almost 400 miles out of a full tank of petrol at around 49/50 MPG while I'm commuting to and from work. On longer journeys it can stretch to 470 and 53 MPG. I'm waiting for my new one to be delivered. As a side note my Fiesta was damaged at work and I was given a Corsa as a courtesy car and I hated the damn thing, it was like driving a go kart! I wouldn't have one if you paid me.
400 miles and 50mpg out of a brand new Fiesta jesus that sucks. I can get 55mph and 500 miles out of my Toyota Auris 1.2T which has the benefit of being a bigger car and having a 4 cyclinder engine which is far smoother and quiter. My car also got hit by a nutter in an Audi and I got given a Corsa and I also hated the damn thing for one of the reasons you mentioned but I actually had to send mine back as the power steering failed mid corner.
The Fiesta 1l can actually do more than 55 MPG. I had an ST line 140 and would average 55 mpg on the commute to work. I did an eco run on a flat bit of motorway for 8 miles and got 74 mph. So no, the Fiestas fuel economy doesn't suck. Plus its 3 pot engine is smooth enough, not even a valid dig at the Fiestas engine
Great review. Very fair. I've driven new Fiestas since 2012 Renewing every year as a driving instructor and I think the Fiesta is a brilliant car. Ergonomically perfect. Great to drive. Very reliable. I would expect the next generation to be electric.
@@matthewsmith2787 bought a fiesta after I passed my test as I how to drive in one. amazing cars, fun to drive and reliable. Also I think they look great!
@@dazspurs9899 To be honest I am surprised small hatchbacks aren't returning to their former glory considering fuel prices. You aint gonna get more than 50mpg out of these stupid crossovers.
A bit of a tangent. Just had a look at the prices of small cars. I’m so out of touch, I can’t believe how expensive cars are new. I tend to buy a car at around 5 years old and keep it a few years. I bought my 2010 car in 2015 and kept it until last month and now bought a late 2016 car which cost me 12500 and that was enough money. A decent spec Fiesta is nearly £25k new, that blows my mind!
On average, I think new cars have gone up 5-10% so far this year. The base Dacia Sandero, has gone up from 8K to more than 11 !!! But when you look at new models, we are seeing many more cars positioned at the higher end of the market, and many more cars where the options easily add up to 10k+ all by themselves. So, it's like a double whammy. Base prices +5-10k, and then 5-10k+ in options for brands that used to offer every extra for a grand or two more than the base price. Of course, most people now 'buy' new cars on PCP or lease, and they are surfing the deals more than ever and keeping their options open, also because many models have long wait times. This is skewing the market.
@@nigel.w Yet we are entering a global recession and millions in fuel poverty. Car manufacturers are swimming against the tide. Next year they will be bleating about poor new car sales.
@@bikeman123 As long as all those with the money and desire to spend - seemingly an ever-increasing number - keep buying up every overpriced new car, automakers will be happy. How long that will continue, we just don't know. You could well be right. It's logical. But the world is increasingly illogical. Many are making truckloads of cash while more and more people go broke. The thing is though, just because you have the money doesn't mean all you want to drive is bigger and more expensive SUVs or EVs. And the richer you are, the more likely you are to have multiple cars, and you don't want them all to be large SUVs, or grossly overpriced hatchbacks. It's also strange that VW has decided to lower the quality of its cars while increasing prices. If you're paying the big bucks, you expect a quality product. I'm prrety sure that the abandonment of the sub-20k, and increasingly the sub-30k, sectors will end up back firing on many automakers. Most seem to think they can abandon the high-volume business model and chase the Porsche and Ferrari business models. They seem to overlook that Porsche and Ferrari are steeped in illustrious automotive history and are highly aspirational brands. Maybe they should look at low volume makers like Jaguar and Aston Martin, who spend as much time trying to prevent bankruptcy as they do producing cars. And I wouldn't have thought Land Rover's business model was a model you'd particularly want to emulate, either. Or, maybe that's exactly the model they do want to emulate. High prices for underdeveloped cars that are all at the bottom of reliability surveys, for which there is seemingly ever-increasing demand. But again, if that is indeed the current thinking, they overlook that Land Rover gets away with it because they're Land Rover. No other maker will get away with it in the longer term. Even Ferrari had to significantly up its game in terms of quality and service to be as succesful as they now are. I think it's a big mistake to abandon the sub-20k sector to the likes of Dacia. It's bad for the consumer, noting that Dacia's have probably increased in price by the greatest percentages. It's bad for the Government's stated objectives. It's bad for congestion, etc. It's bad for innovation, quality, etc. I think it's hard to know what's really going on, because much of what appears to be going one, doesn't really make sense, unless it's simply cash in while you can, and then back to the old normal. But we see how hard it is to get back to the old normal.
In 2019 I got my car for a steal went in to a Toyota dealership in March the new Corolla had come out or was about to so they wanted to shift space and make room for it. I walked out with a 66 plate Toyota with 40k miles for £9500 and got them to fix some scuffs it had too. Now 25k miles later the car is worth the exact same amount and its been nothing but reliable and a pleasure to drive. Can't get anything decent now with the car market as it is.
I think the Fiesta suffers from the same problem as the previous generation Corsa. It isn’t really a new MK at all it’s a lazy facelift. The Puma and the Corsa look modern, fresh and new where as the Fiesta looks almost identical to the Fiesta launched 14 years ago, it’s not a bad design it just feels a bit old
It's actually not a facelift of the 2008-2017 version like the previous corsa. It's just a very similar design like the Ibiza and polo. The shape of the A pillar is more straight and less rounded, C Piller is a different shap on 5 door variants. The window line rises less steeply compared to the 2008 one. The shape overall is more boxy and less sporty on the regular models.
I meant the previous one looks more nimble/sporty in normal trims (no body kit). The new one has more of a heavy boxy look (almost looks older the shape of it, especially the rear?) In normal trims, you will need to buy a st-line to get sporty looks. The 2013 ones still look great, for an 11 year car. They have aged really well.
press...trying to make headlines instead of reporting them why did the Corsa go to number 1...the corsa didn't sell so Vauxhall had fields upon fields stockpiled. no-one wanted one. On the other hand Ford had no reserve stockpiles of Fiesta because everyone wanted one. So when Ford had to slow or stop production (no chips) the Fiesta had all been sold....none left but Vauxhall had loads of cars to sell. And...have you seen the new Corsa.. its big so big that dedicated Vauxhall buyers who used to buy the Astra now buy the Corsa. In reality the Fiesta is still, by far, a much better car especially for the driver.
Ford want to ditch the Fiesta, and there have been great PCP and lease deals on the Corsa. Add to that, Corsa availability and Fiesta unavailability, as you say, and you have the explanation.
Fiesta FTW ! Owned mine for the last 4 years and it's always great fun especially on the twisted country lanes of North Yorkshire. Will be going for the new ST later this year.
I got the 2022 model Titanium 125ps delivered 2 weeks ago. This is my 3rd Fiesta Titanium. I ordered it back in October, so a 6 months wait. Also I ordered a Moondust Silver car, but got a Chrome Blue delivered. Was told I would have to wait until September if I wanted a silver one. The reason I bought this car is because I really liked all the titanium touches like: Powerfold electric mirrors with puddle lamps. One touch electric windows. Footwell lighting. Ambient interior lighting. Rear seat lighting. Height adjustable front seatbelts. Hill start assist on/off facility. Unfortunately, all these things are missing on this 2022 model. This new model does have new annoying and unnecessary techy additions like a speed sign recognition camera system, that, when it sees a 20/30/40/50/ miles per hour sign in a side road it gives the wrong speed limit for the road you are driving on. I am now looking forward to getting rid of this car, and I think many previous customers will be very disappointed when they have to hold the electric window switch while the window SLOWLY moves up and down. Footnote: I would have gladly paid another grand for these things to have not been removed.
I wouldn't even have entertained the dealership if they attempted to deliver a car in the wrong colour. I order cars in a spec and colour that I want, not what someone else wants.
I've noted that with each version they keep changing thing. Best to confirm what included. Not good that all this things are missing and the wrong colour.
Shame. I feel for you. You've not been treated well. Hopefully, you'll get most of your money back, given there's a significant wait for a brand new one.
Thats the thing if you buy a top spec one you should get given these little luxuries that while not that useful and certainly not needed are a nice touch.
I think it's more to do with Ford wanting to ditch Fiesta and Focus. PCP and lease deals seem poor on them, which has people looking for alternatives. If they don't want a crossover, like the Puma, then they'll buy the hatchback that has the best deal on it. I've also heard the Corsa is quite decent to drive.
I'm certain we will see plenty of these great Fords on UK roads. I already see loads of them xD. I think it's things like Covid and the semiconductor problems that has caused the Fiesta to lose it's crown as the UK's best selling car, but also it would help if Ford made an all electric version, like with the Corsa 👍
Like the others, I think the Puma is going to take over. It seems that's what the public wants, but also what Ford wants. I don't think Ford wants to make any other car than the Mustang. And it seems PCP and leasing deals haven't been good for the Fiesta. Automakers have seen just how much many people are seemingly willing to pay for electric cars, which is where more profits lie. And, to sell into Europe, it's very hard to sell anything ICE without having significant EV and PHEV offerings. Maybe it's down to the semiconductor shortage, but I think that's maybe just accelerating plans Ford had already made to ditch the Fiesta and Focus in Europe, as they have already done in the US.
@@nigel.w I actually hate the new Puma. Ford shot itself in the foot. The new one is just an fugly SUV meanwhile the original was a beautiful little sports coupe. I would really love an old Puma!

She is different, though, and being yourself in the world today is certainly something to be admired. Used to really like this channel. Now I rarely watch. Watched two of Nicola's today, and I can't say I've changed my mind. Oh, well.
All the car makers want to somehow stop making small low-margin cars. Thats why they want to hide the cost of cars behind lease plans etc etc. It is almost as hard to make a car with a list price of say £18k as it is to make one with a list price of say £35k and the margin on the larger latter car is much larger. They all want a slice of that Telsa style massive margin business...
I have owned nothing but Fiestas ever since the mk2 around 32 years ago, they are amazing cars. But their lack of push to electric has meant for the first time I've jumped ship and just bought a Peugeot e208. I am sure one day I'll be back. Ford need to stop continuously increasing the size of the Fiesta though, if it gets any bigger I won't be able to fit one in my garage.
Interesting! The Fiesta hasn't been sold in New Zealand for several years now. The Focus is the smallest Ford you can get here and you don't even see many of those. And who doesn't love a good knob!
I think the Fiesta ST and the Focus ST are the only two models that may survive Ford's intention to ditch the Fiesta and Focus, for a little while at least.
The only reason the Fiesta is struggling is because the current generation car looks too much like the last generation, in effect making it look dated. Rivals are more stylish and have upped their game. Next gen model needs fresh styling.
The reason for this is Ford playing safe not wanting to change what for them has been a winning formula. But eventually, buyers demand a fresh approach, and will look elsewhere if they don't get it........
Ford seem to be on the slide in many markets - especially Europe. The cars are good, they just don't stand out anymore, and when every other car you saw on the road was either a Fiesta or Focus, it seems many now just want to be different, and don't even look at Ford anymore. Blame supply chain issues if you want, but other makers have coped and put the effort in.
Or even the Mondeo, just look at that as a fine example of a saloon car that had sales dropping quicker after 2013 than Joe Weller in the boxing ring 😂
I wanted a new one but I couldn’t have any options from factory nor the engine I wanted, so I’ve kept my 18 reg one as there is no incentive to upgrade as I’d be buying a car I don’t want

Saddened to hear that Ford will apparently stop production of the Ford Fiesta in 2023. A variety of factors are in play including increased demand for SUVs. It's a shame because the Ford Fiesta is more economical than an SUV.
At least still has a proper handbrake, Ford need to address their 1.0L EcoBoost engine issues as it’s getting a growing reputation for serious problems/fails
Ford passenger cars have virtually died here in Australia, but I bought a 2021 Focus ST Line hatch and it’s fabulous. Looks good and great to drive - especially in Sport Mode
Just a facelift, they need a new model, lighter, more space, even better to drive, integrated screens rather than hideous bolt on panel. Facelift is a small bandage on a gaping wound.
To all fiesta and corsa potential buyers just look at Yaris hybrid. This car is similar size, nice looking and great to drive , very much like electric cars but all you need is a bit of petrol. They are most reliable and fun to drive small city cars.
4:30 I mean it's kinda like lane departure except worse. If you can't tell you're going the wrong way/veering from lane you need to hand in your license.
And yet it seems to happen too often - in the States, it's about 260 fatal wrong-way accidents per year resulting in about 350 deaths or 1.33 deaths per fatal accident, way more than any other type of accident. If there's any sort of tech to help prevent somebody driving the wrong way on a motorway then something that may potentially save lives should be welcomed. Sadly, it's probably just a prompt rather than anything autonomous.
this isnt just a review, this is a good review. and that isnt just a sweater, its a really cool sweater. get yourself another reviewer and you would have a show.
Ford seem to be refreshing their vehicle less than in previous decades, the 2022 model to me is still just a face lifted 2008 design, no matter how nice the design was and still is. I also am not a fan of them doing hot hatch models in 5 door only variants and discontinuing 3 door models ... 3 doors are more sporty looking and handle better.
Fiesta drives the best and still looks the best. There's no accounting for taste. But, let's face it, Puma sales tell the story. People want compact crossovers. And I suspect the reason for the 'sales' success of the Corsa has more to do with the way people 'buy' new cars these days, 'ie, leasing and PCP. I suspect there have been better deals on the Corsa. And/or maybe Stellantis has had fewer semiconductor delays than Ford? I suspect the answer is quite simple and straightforward.
They should have kept a 4 cylinder engine, 1.2.. kept prices down 15k is too much for this motor and front screen electric demist should be fitted standard ON ALL MOTORS. They were standard on their FUSIONS at turn of century. What a great car that was. Rock on.
Why would they do that? I've owned both mk7 versions. The 1.25 and 1.4 4 cylinder engines are very lethargic and dated compared to the 1.0 ecoboost 100ps. Even the 1.0 100ps verson pulls very well from low revs. I was really surprised by the performance of it, it's quite torquey and responsive. Blows much larger engines out the water and doesn't even need to be revred
@@nigel.w And its a 3 cyclinder so you basically get an engine that sounds rough and likes it missing. 4 cyclinders are much quiter and more refined and smooth than the 3 cyclinders. When I bought my car a few years ago now I sought out something with a 4 cyclinder engine and manual transmission, a handbrake and a conventional car key ignition to start the engine and a spare wheel too. This was in early 2019 and no joke the things I wanted ruled out 90% of cars on the market. Anyway I ended up with a 66 plate Toyota Auris 1.2T thats brilliant and blows any Ford offerings out the water.
Fiesta sales down, Puma up: Reason #1. Not much innovation: Reason #2. Over-familiarity (people get bored): Reason #3. Really too bad because it's so darned good! Thanks for a great review.
Wrong way alert is a good idea given the number of people travelling and the number of people who got their licence in a LHD country. Many people take a while to acclimatize. Many people drive by instinct and it can take a while to reprogram oneself. So, I think it's actually a very good idea indeed to hopefully prevent head-on collisions. Of course, it also cuts the other way, for Brits travelling to Europe, etc.
Isn't this most current version a facelift of a facelift? I mean, the basic body is the same as the 2008 generation Fiesta, right? The side window view sure looks very similar.
@@RichO1701e Looking at the side window of the C-pillar it sure looks similar to the 2008 Fiesta. I'm thinking maybe the underpinnings are updated along with the front and rear design, but the core body still derives from the 2008.

Its last years rally championship winner lovely little car but there is something you did miss out on the fiesta its go a EcoBoost witch is electric boost im guessing you didnt know
Did you mention the price? And waiting times? Especially if you want the car spec of your choice! I think people have simply got fed up waiting! My father was after a brand new focus and the dealership said they don't have any and that they have now been pulled from sale due to manufacturing issues. Ford need to up there game else lose out to other manufacturers who are offering better Tec better deals and less wait times.
I had a Firsta and agree, great to drive. However, quality was awful, doors tinny and the entertainment system was awful. Hated it, add in there were thousands on the road, couldn't wait to get rid.
Hi, For me it's still a good looking, fun to drive car, I find it funny that they included a wrong way alert, its like you said "if your an experienced driver and you know where you are going, it does not make any sense, I do have an issue with the rear passenger alert though, like let's pretend it's not passengers, you just placed your bag or backpack in the back seat, will it remind you to check because you opened the back door before you drive, if that's the case, it may be a bit annoying whilst your driving, happy it kept its handling and fun to drive DNA and I love cars that can put a smile on my face. I also find that a manual pairing to this car make it that much more special and more engaging, however people where I live seems to be getting more lazy as they hate to shift gears in traffic, hence we see a rapid decline with the interest of manual car sales.
I know of a few people that have gone the wrong way, I've been a passenger a couple of times when the driver has gone through a no-entry. Maybe it's a big city thing where they can't be bothered to go the long way around?
I still can't belive Ford killed this and their sedans in America. The sold 60k units of these on average every year here. Yet somehow that's unprofitable. Yet in some markets they barely sell 60k units as a entire brand. And I find this new one that we never got to be a very good looking car. But tbh I wouldn't ever buy a Ford. The Japanese dominate our market for a reason. They make better cars than any American or European brand.
All tech shortages aside (Focus has been on hold for several months as they cant get the screens for SYNC4), lack for hybrid options, everything with 1L 3 cyl engine (fine for Fiesta, crap for a Focus on uphill overtake lanes) and crap financial options (max 3yr deals), which makes the monthly cost options no longer as viable when everyone else offers 4yr and higher end balloon payments, rather than have it spread over the 3yrs like Ford seems to do. Yes they invested all their chips/screens with the Transit range and it paid off last year, but the Fiesta and Focus have bore the brunt, but hopefully they'll bounce back. Puma is doing well, and not everyone wants an SUV ( i like a good estate), sadly looks like it will be SUV's only like the US soon enough, unless they can do a good hybrid/plugin option.
@@sbrader97 agree the 155ps should be but not many of them made, none of the Ford dealers i contacted could get any. Your still working a 1L hard, a lot of mechanics say they need serviced more often due to this. in an ideal world the 1.5L 182bhp ecoboost engine was the best, short of an ST 😎
Hi. Im from Germany. My dad is working for the Fordwerke Köln as an Ingenieur. I can tell you, the fiesta mk 8.5 is the last Fiesta. They will stop the fiesta Produktion at the end of 2022 for ever.
I've always been a Ford person, had fiestas, Focuses but have just recently gone for the Corse electric and can't fault it after nearly 3 months of ownership. Design (iinterior and exterier) and build quality is much better in the current 'f' variant than previous models.
From 2017 onwards the Fiesta has systematically been turned back into a box on four wheels , losing the inspired appearance and curved styling of models prior to that point . Engine reliability has also been cited from that years model changes . Of course , there has also been a pandemic , creating a boom in second hand car sales !
But how is the MK8 more curvy, more sporty and more aggressive? It is. You very obviously state something everyones eyes can proof wrong. Engine reliability is the same because they are literarly the same engines. Ok, actually reliability is higher because they ditched the belt in opil and got a chain now. So, they improved on that.
Folk are just buying/leasing cross-overs rather than small hatchbacks. Until they return to sanity, suggesting possible improvements to a Fiesta is like suggesting to re-arrange deck chairs on the Titanic.
🤦♂️.... It's not hard to work out really. This is a facelift designed to tide the Fiesta over until an all new model is available. Corsa and Puma are new cars. They were also announced and manufacturing had begun pre pandemic. This new Fiesta was probably both caught up in the manufacturing issues and delayed. Hence not many on the roads as of yet
@@nigel.w I think the main thing they are getting at in this particular video is the UK top 10 sales charts rather than the future of the Fiesta globally. A shame that both the Fiesta and Focus are no longer available in the US. Guessing their successors which will probably be electric ( yay ) will be made available at some point in the future. Be surprised if there were any model name changes but suppose it could happen. I read the Autocar article and not sure what to make of it to be honest. More crossovers and SUVS. Very now. But if tastes change. They also said a small electric car isn't profitable and yet Vauxhall with the Corsa. Peugeot with the 208. Electric Mini. Younger drivers, elderly and a good few other groups will need a small car
it’s so funny that every car journalist stays on this sync system. Doesn't it matter what kind of puritanical base system you have, even if you still use your own phone with android auto? Who is the fool who doesn't use his fiesta like this? Best-in-class car with automatic transmission, BO sound system, heated windshield, excellent driving feel, and other extras. I speciel love this little dumpling. :)
Don’t think it was mentioned but Ford have now dropped the 3 door option, including on the ST. All new Ford Fiesta’s are now 5 door only which is a shame.
Verbally, a great deal of excess baggage. Take a leaf out of the What Car? book, their bloke never employs as much as one wasted word. His presentations are streamlined, straight to the point in every aspect. Lady, I switched off after about three minutes because I learnt more about you than the car.
I sort of agree. Most people seem to really like her, though. I get the impression many get off on the car reviewer more than on the car, and see these videos more as entertainment than sources of information.
Problem is it's fugley. It looks like a granny chariot so it doesn't matter how well it drives. It out Jazz's the current Honda Jazz for being an OAP mobile and that's the problem. That and the rep the EcoBoom engine has ended up with even tho it's now not an issue.

These “fake carbon” interior bits are 10x better/practical than glossy black ones or new trendy fabric dashboard trim finishers
BMW have done equally naff fake carbon fibre trim for years.

One things Ford always do right, all of their cars are fun to drive to a point.
But the ride....oh dear.

Everyone is buying SUV’s which means manufacturers are making SUV’s and not paying attention to the cars which are genuinely fun to drive😕
This could be why ford hasn’t payed attention to the fiesta by designing and engineering a larger battery fora plug in hybrid or electric model. I really hope they don’t stop doing the fiesta in 5-10 years time

"According to rumours Ford will permanently stop the production of the Fiesta in late 2023 or early 2024 to fully produce electrical SUVs at Cologne."
I hadn't heard that particular rumour, but it matches what else I have heard. I think Ford wants to ditch the Fiesta and Focus from its line-up ASAP.
The past model was such a pleasure to drive, especially with the 100 HP ecoboost engine. Every person who likes to drive should test one. 😉❤️❤️
I get around 320 mikes with the 1,25 engine
Great review. Very fair. I've driven new Fiestas since 2012 Renewing every year as a driving instructor and I think the Fiesta is a brilliant car. Ergonomically perfect. Great to drive. Very reliable. I would expect the next generation to be electric.
I learned to drive in a fiesta, then bought one when I passed my test. I think that speaks volumes. Great car to drive, and cheap to run

The Puma and the Corsa look modern, fresh and new where as the Fiesta looks almost identical to the Fiesta launched 14 years ago, it’s not a bad design it just feels a bit old
100% agree, the 2022 model is just a face lifted 2008 car
They have aged really well.
press...trying to make headlines instead of reporting them
why did the Corsa go to number 1...the corsa didn't sell so Vauxhall had fields upon fields stockpiled. no-one wanted one. On the other hand Ford had no reserve stockpiles
of Fiesta because everyone wanted one.

The reason I bought this car is because I really liked all the titanium touches like:
Powerfold electric mirrors with puddle lamps.

We’ve had 4 in the family and never a problem
Had 3 fords with the 1.0 - no issues.
Or just ditch the damn 3 cyclinders and have an even amount of cyclinders again since they sound so much better and drive so much smoother.
In Sweden we can get E85 - verisons of the Fiesta which is very good for a direct injecton engine
Kind of looks like a mini crossover?
There’s the ford fiesta active model
A timing chain with port and GDI would be nice engine wise.
Splain me.
They have timing chain. Since i think it was 2019 or 2020 all ecoboosts have timing chain. Even the 1L.
this isnt just a review, this is a good review. and that isnt just a sweater, its a really cool sweater. get yourself another reviewer and you would have a show.
My thoughts are they've set the price point at a level that just doesn't appeal as much as it used to.
I think deliberately, so sales will decline, and they can justify pulling it.
I can tell you where a lot have gone the eco boost or as mechanics call them eco blow and no one wants to fix them very expensive cheaper to scrap
Problems with early Eco Boost engines have put me off Ford along with the 3 year warranty, even Renault give you a 5 year warranty.
Is that rly enough to put u off the car tho? Like seriously?
@@georgedowns4034 Yes.
@@georgedowns4034 you plainly dont know ABout the world of woe the ecoboost brings
@@timbo19751975 huh?

I have the mean green st 2 coming soon :) I have the 2018 st line one at the moment and it’s the best car I have owned.
The facelifted MK7 Fiesta looked so much nicer than everything after it. Not sure what to have next when time comes to replace my MK7
The MK8 2018 is the best looking fiesta.
The MK7 is a female based fiesta, the MK8 is a sporty, male, aggressive looking fiesta.
@@dom3827 I'm guessing you have a MK8? All Fiestas are feminine
@@RB-87unless it’s a Fiesta ST
@@user-mg2qz6ep2o It's not the performance that's the problem, but the reliability. Many have failed. Mechanics hate 'em.
That ford has a great colour
Its probably me but I do find her presenting style quite irritating. Rainbow reference...🤔
Isn't this most current version a facelift of a facelift? I mean, the basic body is the same as the 2008 generation Fiesta, right? The side window view sure looks very similar.
Very similar to the original Mk7.
No, it's not a face-lift face-lift. This model is a full new chassis front the pre 2017 spec. It's longer and wider for a start.
@@RichO1701e Looking at the side window of the C-pillar it sure looks similar to the 2008 Fiesta. I'm thinking maybe the underpinnings are updated along with the front and rear design, but the core body still derives from the 2008.
@@RichO1701e more an evolution of the Mk7 rather than a revolution the Mk8 Fiesta, im expecting the Mk9 Fiesta to be very different.
@@RichO1701e The 2017 model was an all new design, longer and wider. The problem for many people was that it looks so similar to its predecessor, that many assumed it was just a face-lift. Don't know what has happened to car stylists but they seem unwilling to come up with great new original designs
Hello Auto Express, as i french driver i will visite UK this summer with my Ford and i really happy to have "wrong way alert". Regards.
Ford need to up there game else lose out to other manufacturers who are offering better Tec better deals and less wait times.
...and better PCP and lease deals. But Ford also wants to ditch the Fiesta from its line-up.
Think tourists and immigrants from LHD countries.
I would never consider a new corsa over a new fiesta , however I have a polo gti . If I was still a teenager then it be fiesta st
Polo 🤢
@@h.s.5995 clearly your a Honda fan🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@gamingmadforever6363 what’s wrong with being a Honda fan? I’m a SEAT/Cupra fan and I’d rather go for a Cupra Leon or Ibiza FR
Do prefer knobs, but I have my mk4 Leon now (twitter convo) so far I haven't found the hvac controls too bad in the screen.
Ruined the looks and too much useless tech, wrong way warning, passenger reminder. Cut the crap tech and bring the price down
I still can't belive Ford killed this and their sedans in America.
I would think the 155hp mild hybrid version should be plenty for a focus even on hills
Prices have been one of the reasons Fiesta has dropped down no longer value for money.
Cars are very expensive all around. I guess only Dacia are in that bucket of value for money
@@h.s.5995 true and that's why corsa has taken the number 1spot
Hi. Im from Germany. My dad is working for the Fordwerke Köln as an Ingenieur.
I can tell you, the fiesta mk 8.5 is the last Fiesta. They will stop the fiesta Produktion at the end of 2022 for ever.
Yes, that's what I have heard. Many are in denial.
Corsa numbers are so many due to daily rental and cheap contract hire registrations, nothing to do with what’s best.
I've always been a Ford person, had fiestas, Focuses but have just recently gone for the Corse electric and can't fault it after nearly 3 months of ownership. Design (iinterior and exterier) and build
quality is much better in the current 'f' variant than previous models.
A good review with good content, handy when your comparing with its competitors .
Bought myself a 2016 Zetec S in Jan of this year, loads of fun to drive and plenty of aftermarket options to mess around with
SUVs need to go. Mabye you need it but most people dont offroad and you can get the practicality from an estate or something.
Ford needs to bring these back to the states ong thank for the review
Folk are just buying/leasing cross-overs rather than small hatchbacks. Until they return to sanity, suggesting possible improvements to a Fiesta is like suggesting to re-arrange deck chairs on the Titanic.
In Jan 2020 I purchased a brand new Ford Ka+ (pre reg) for £9750. If I want a small new Ford now...its over £18,000
And since, Ford has decided to ditch the Fiesta and Focus, as in the US.
Think the question was mostly answered around 2mins. Puma!
I think the facelift Mk8 pre facelift is the vest
Don’t think it was mentioned but Ford have now dropped the 3 door option, including on the ST.
All new Ford Fiesta’s are now 5 door only which is a shame.
Same thing with the new corsa and many other models there all 5 door only now cost cutting measures probably by having less model variants
Because sales of three doors have really dropped off.
The only small car I know that does a 3 door version is the Yaris
I absolutely detest Ford's "chime" that seems to plague every auto.
I'm looking at getting one of these around the 2009/2010 mark.
Mark 7, I think
Fiestas used to be inexpensive- not anymore maybe that’s why there not selling as well
I’ve got a 2018 Vingnale now £4000 dearer…
Problem is it's fugley. It looks like a granny chariot so it doesn't matter how well it drives. It out Jazz's the current Honda Jazz for being an OAP mobile and that's the problem.
That and the rep the EcoBoom engine has ended up with even tho it's now not an issue.
