Yes, that why when the baby is born, their age is automatically 1 y/o. And their age will added on new year, not on their birth's month.
yesss finally someone said it. but i would say its how a person personally wants to count their age, whether they go for counting by year or counting by birthday. like for example, someone can ask me whats my age this year now, i would say im 19 and that is true bcs my birthday is 17 april and its way past that already (this is going by birthday). but what if someone asked me that somewhere in january, if im lazy i would say im 19 (this is going by year), but if i'd like to elaborate, i would say im 18 and turning 19 in april.
its 2021 and to us technically jin is 28 bcs his birthday hasnt actually arrived yet and he hasnt *officially* turned 29. so to ppl who counts by birthday, he is still 28 and will turn 29 on Dec 4th but its korea and they +1 to their age. so in BTS contents, BTS will tease him that he is 30 but he will be like 'hey im still 29, my birthday hasnt arrived yet'.
just like op said, the moment theyre born, they are 1 year old. for us, after we are born, we'll be 3months old, 5 months old etc, but in korea, they'll be 1year and 3months, 1year and 5months etc instead

Which literally makes no sense coz you're only in your mums belly for 9 months at most! Not a year!
Plus if you're born at the end of December (Like Tae) then you'd be two years old after only being in the world for like a day which again, makes no sense whatsoever lmao! 🤣🤦♀️

@@daisygirlmochi768 i also think like that since baby in stomach is 9 month. But idk why korean count it as 1 year after they get born. But they indeed count baby age since in the womb. And their age will be added every new year, not on their birthday month. Make sense or non sense, that is korean tradition rules to count their age, it kinda be rude if we judge their own tradition n rules with said "that make no sense" n laugh it coz is their culture that applied for their own people n in their own country

The "BIG 3" were basically the 3 biggest and most powerful music companies in Korea, only groups from these companies won important awards and it was difficult for a group from a small company to win, but bts was the exception and they made their company the biggest among all this music companies, they had no privilege

Whole SUGA's existence revolves around music. He has been rapping and producing since 13 years old. When he had multiple part-time jobs he was working at record studio and was giving MIDI lessons. He was playing piano since very young age. When they've been asked what they would do without BTS and other members give answers about different jobs, SUGA is always consistent about his answer and says that he would be producer and songwriter even without BTS. Of course he has many different interests like electronics and music equipment, architecture and interior design, painting, ecomonics, psychology and psychoanalysis, piano, guitar, basketball. But his biggest passion is and always will be music. As Jin said "our SUGA, he’s a friend who has an immense passion for music. To the point i wonder if he didn’t become a singer or songwriter/producer, what would he be? Everything surrounding him -hobbies, personal life - is all tuned around music. He’s someone that makes me think: “he looks amazing as a singer, as someone who makes songs.”

27:45 with korean age you are born already 1 year old and every new year (calendar year) one year is added, so for example if you turn 20 in 2021 (so you are 19 & 20 this year in international age) you are 21 in korean age the whole year
SUGA and music are inseparable. He is also producing for other artists (he is the only member who does it) and a lot of famous artists want to work with him, as he is known as genius producer
Yoongi (Suga) indeed has a strong connection with music and producing. He has collabed with and produced for a bunch of other artists. Mostly Korean, but he even collabed solo with Halsey which is huge. However, he isn't the only one within BTS who produces for others :) Just wanted to let you know in case you wanted to know! I know there's often a lot of accidental misinformation in this fandom, so it's really easy to miss out on information. So don't feel bad. It's always nice to learn more about BTS. Both RM and J-hope have also produced for others outside of BTS. J-hope produced at least for one artist predebut and RM produced at least 8 times for others. You can find the songs on Google. Maybe it's even more since I last counted. He did recently produce for TXT I think? I believe Yoongi has produced at least six times outside of BTS, but it is definitely possible it's more and that he has done the most producing with outsider artists. Both he and RM are definitely known as 'the' producers of the group. Although I do want to add that a lot of BTS members try their hand at producing within BTS since their debut years. They do an awesome job at it too in their own way (I absolutely love Jungkook's produced songs like 'Film Out' or Magic Shop' or 'Friends' which was produced by JM). To me, it's just so nice to see they are involved within their own songs.

RM and J-Hope never produced a song for other artist. Both are credited as songwriters/composers. Film out is produced by back number, UTA. Not by JK, he is credited as composer. However you are right that JK produced BTS' song Magic shop and Jimin produced BTS' song Friends
J-Hope's predebut collab with Jo Kwon is produced by Bang PD. TXT song 0X1=Lovesong is produced by Slow Rabbit. J-Hope is credited as producer in 3 songs - all for them for his mixtape. RM is credited as producer in 10 songs - 3 for BTS and other 7 for his solo songs on Soundcloud
@@vanessaserneels4798 And here you are, spreading misinformation... Please always check out official credits before talking about contribution of the members and don't trust google. The only place where you can trust production credits is psychical album or if the credits were published officially by creator. Producers are listed outside the brackets. None of the members produced song for other artist, except for SUGA, and RM is definitely not known as 'the' producer, he said multiple times that he is not very much into producing and finds it difficult to produce a song. He produced overall 10 amazing songs at this moment - songs for BTS and for himself. And there is nothing wrong with that, he is enjoying songwriting process more. SUGA on another hand was already an established producer before BTS and joined them as producer actually. SUGA is credited as producer in 40-50 songs, wins awards as producer and produces for other artists. And he is the only member who does it. Of course it can change in the future

The “Big 3” are the top 3 labels of Korea prior to BTS’s huge success. They include SM, JYP, and YG.

You said you picked this one cause it has the most views, it has the most views because it is older and probably the first introduction video of them. The newer ones are more updated and more of their achievements. The fanbase count was 14million+ at that time it is at least double that now and growing more and more with every new realease.

I've been busy learning BTS's history for the last 6 months, and one thing I've realized is that you always have to notice when a clip happened on their timeline, because they have changed a lot and gone through quite a journey over 8+ years. Once you get more familiar with them, you begin to recognize certain clips from when they were younger. The clip of Jimin saying he couldn't sing well was from early on, and it's fun to see how the things that were like pipe dreams when they started out became reality over time.

yeah, RM went live like 2-3 days ago. But because of the huge time differences, they tend to go live at like 5-6pm in Korea, which is around 4-5am in America (eastern time). So, you have to be really lucky as an American fan to witness when they go live, which they do randomly.

In Korea when they called someone Idol, they expect them to be perfect, always smile, always perfect, no making mistakes, always pretty, even without makeup. One more thing in South Korea, an Idol is not a musician, but an industrialized nation. So people think “how can hip-hop and Idols go together?” Unlike in America.
Big3: SM, YG, and JYP entertainment they are the big companies in Korea before but we not don’t know for sure these days. The kpop industry has change a long now

There are some really pretty MV! The best live performance which is also the most expensive for an award show is Dionysus...part of the Map of the Soul Show at the MMA 2019 music Awards. It is unbelievable the amount of gorgeous sets! And the dancing is amazing

I would, however, like to add that since this introduction video came out, all the members have participated as producers, songwriters, composers in either their group works, solos, or SoundCloud solos. In that respect, the tags this video uses are VERY VERY limited and not updated. I hope you watch some recent videos for that someday!

If you ever feel inclined to understand the members' personalities beyond the necessity of your video series, I would highly recommend their official content like:

2) Bangtan Bomb (behind the scenes random moments uploaded on their UA-cam Channel BangtanTV),
as well as their documentary series and movies:

The latter two are available as series and movies too.

Yoongi isn’t grumpy, I would recommend watching the updated one. At the beginning he cared for his members and did things for them but didn’t like to draw attention to it. Like if he saw they were tired he would give them water without even making eye contact. He is from Daegu and has commented that’s kind of how the mentality is there. Because of this at the beginning when ppl didn’t know him as well, ppl thought he was cold. But within minutes of being in the fandom you realize the opposite. Yoongi or Suga is overwhelmingly patient. He never yells at anyone and even when he had to yell for an acting thing got a bit weirded out by it. He cares for all his members. Even back in the beginning when I believe Jhope was going to be alone at the dorm for the holidays Yoongi came back with chicken to spend it with him. Or when Jimin felt insecure about his looks or voice and Yoongi would give him lots of honest praise. He also does everything he can to comfort army as well. He probably has a list, a mile long, of quotes you could literally get tattooed. He practically oozes comfort and as he has grown and been with BTS is more and more obvious with his affection but still gets flustered when the members say they love him. He is sarcastic and witty. He is super funny. Always doing one liners and being iconic. I think at the beginning some of it was that RM and Suga felt there was a certain persona they had to play as they were underground rappers. They couldn’t do cute things etc. they shouldn’t wear makeup. I think they struggled with this for awhile being suddenly rejected in some ways by underground rappers and told they were betraying that scene. But over time as they grew they both let this go and felt more comfy just wearing what they want, wearing the makeup, or making cute sound effects which Yoongi does a lot and being openly affectionate. So this idea he was cold was because at the beginning even though he still constantly helped others like with Jhope during the holidays all that was put out for army was him doing a bit tougher persona and as he got more comfortable and decided he could be a rapper and an idol and other underground rappers learned respect for what he could do he was more open about who he was. He is like the most comforting human I think I’m aware of. His members will mess with him and even drag him across the floor or pole him or (nothing painful just teasingly trying to annoy him) and he just doesn’t even react sometimes.
Sry this was long but all new army end up thinking Yoongi is grumpy or cold and later realize it’s the farthest from the truth

the big 3 is the biggest entertainment companies in korea. SM Entertainment, YG Entertainment, and JYP Entertainment. Its not just one group. Bighit Entertainment (now HYBE) which is BTS company was a really small agency back then. So it was more shocking. Smaller agencies doesnt really get big awards in award shows because of these 3 companies, but BTS broke that. Since they won Artist of the year in 2016, they havent lost that title and its 2021 now.
This video is three years old and bts have grown so much as an individual and as a group after this video. And it has some misinformation about some members as well(not much but some). It would have been better if you had checked the recent video but its fine. Atleast you learned something.

You nailed it on the head. BTS treats Army as equal and an integral part of their journey. Aside from them being very talented already, they put the fandom front and center. You dont get that connection with western pop groups. BTS forever !!! 💜💜💜

In Korea - the day you are born you are 1 year old. Then every new years day you are considered 1 year older. Eg: JK born 1/9/97 was 1yo then on 1/1/98 he was 2 yo in Korean age but still 0yo in International age - so when he says he was 15 - he was actually 13 in international age..... hope that helps??

One of the things I did after discovering them in 2018 (I'm also in the US) was go through and learn who was who. I've seen this vid too. There's an amazing one that's 2 hrs long lol. I watched it over 2 days.
A few things I've learned:
KPOP is handled very differently than western artists. They become trainees before even being selected for a group. They move into a place and learn dance and singing etc. Most don't make it.
VLive and Weverse are platforms dedicated to HYBE artists. As a US person, these fascinate me. Where else do you see artists going live and just talking to fans? Pretty amazing.
Korean age is 1 year older as babies are born at 1 year old.
RM was 17 I believe when he began as a trainee. He often is concerned that he doesn't know how to do things like cook (which he's learning) or do everyday things. He's also known on fan videos for always watching and keeping the members in line w their antics. Pretty hilarious. And yes they do have conflicts in the group.
Jin was approached twice to become an idol. Once he turned them down bc he wanted to study acting. His family is very well off and he owns a restaurant w his brother he also has many non BTS friends he travels and socializes with. He loves gaming and cooking although lately he said he isn't hungry or eating much so he isn't cooking.
Suga often is shown as grumpy and is called Grandpa sometimes. But years ago he not only took a trainee to the hospital but stayed w him and was there when he woke up. He also paid for the visit. He's pretty funny when he wants to be and has the most savage cut downs. He loves sleeping and says he's lazy and wants to come back as a rock in his next life lol. He had a series w JHope where they ate food from different places.
JHope is a perfectionist w his dancing. Jin once said he immediately glances at Hobi when he messes up a move and Hobi always notices lol. Hobi interacts a ton on Weverse commenting on posts. He did an amazing Vline where he danced to lots of 90s US music. He says his parents worry about him a lot. Also he almost left BTS and they convinced him to stay. And he originally wanted to be a vocalist but agreed to change to rapper. He is everyone's sunshine.
Jimin was the last member to join BTS. he went to school as a trainee w V. That's why they're close. He was embarrassed by his accent when he moved to Seoul. His teacher was the one to pushed him to audition. I think he's the one who really made the biggest evolution in the group from raw sex appeal bad boy to a Softer more outwardly sensitive person. Sometimes he breaks my heart as he is so sensitive and struggles a lot with isolation and acceptance. He's dieted to extremes. He works til he collapses. I wanna hug him and wrap him in a bubble to protect him from the world. Also yes he does need a lot of attention. I'll always remember in the soop when he says do you know why I wore this Hanbok? RM responded...to get attention? Lol. Hes arguably the most kindest of the group remembering birthdays and celebrating them and buying gifts for people.
V went to an audition bc his friend was going. That friend didn't make it and was pretty angry about it, making videos blasting V falsely. When asked about that friend V responded "he failed". His humor is dry. He's said his fav lyrics are na na na na. Many people think he's in a relationship with jungkook. Thousands of people are dedicated to Vkook shipping. His voice is lower and yes he is unique in his appearance. He's been named the sexiest man and models for companies. He wants to do more acting. And he is so close w his family and loves kids. He was raised by his grandparents. You can how much he's matured over the years as the group evolved.
Jungkook is the youngest. he joined as a trainee at 13. He used to be really shy but as the years have gone by, he's really become an individual. He has multiple talents and does cement that center position in any performance. He's very into working out, especially boxing. Recently on his birthday he did a Vlive for 2 hrs and used lyrics ARMY posted in weverse to create a song.

I recommend watching The Rise of Bangtan series. Right now there are 12 chapters and it dives deeper on how they came about plus it explains cultural aspects that you have questioned before. :)

Thanks for the react. This intro video is good as long as you know it’s out of date (BTS are so prolific and the guys have grown up so much even in the last few years). BTS performances are really one of the best I've seen. The production is seriously out of this world. And during the panini they reached another level with their performances. One of my favorite ones would probably be Black Swan on Jimmy Fallon in 2020. But I'm really curious what would be your opinion on one of the end of the year stages they do for major award shows each year. I really recommend watching the full MMA 2019 live performance, it's seriously one of the best things I've ever seen from them.
In Korea you're already born as a 1y/o and age up when each new year starts. I've seen different explanations for this. Some say it's because you're already considered human when you're in your mom's belly and that's why you're already 1y/o when you're born. I've seen others say that when you're born you're already in your first year of life so instead being born at zero you're already 1y/o. I have no idea which one is true, if even one of them is but that's what I've seen as explanations.
YG Ent. (Blackpink's agency), JYP Ent. and SM Ent. are three major companies in Korea that manage arists, also called BIG 3. They always compete between themselves for awards and make life hell for artists outside of their bubble. BTS had a really hard time in the industry because of them. This changed a bit since BTS and BigHit came into the picture. But let's just say they're not so big anymore. Mostly due to the fact that BigHit (now HYBE) surpassed all of these 3 companies combined in the number of profits made in a year. So the name "Big 3" is still used but it doesn't hold the same weight anymore. But both the companies and fans of artists from those companies are always kinda salty and defensive about this so.

Sm: super junior, tvxq, exo, red velvet, nct, their new debuted group aespa that you can bet are already so well known despite being new to the scene
Yg: bigbang, 2ne1, psy used to be from this label when Gangnam style happened, blackpink, iKon, winner.
Jyp: 2pm, missA, twice, got7, itzy.
Some of the first names may seem unknown for you because i put older groups too but they were all really famous.
Before BTS the groups' from these companies were the usually the ones that had all the awards just like most of the attention. A magazine called this like bts Cinderella story, coming from the bottom, now in the top etc etcc

I had trouble figuring out who was who at first too but it came with time. It doesn't help that they constantly change their hair.
I think it's actually quite simple. I focused on their features and memorized that first then afterwards it became easy to tell them apart especially with their diff hair colors.
There are more and more people breaking that “idols aren’t involved in making their own music” stigma. It’s not particularly a bad thing to not be, but I do think it’s cool to recognize when people are knowledgeable in a craft.

To your questions:
In korea, the day you're born you're considered 1 year old. Additionally every new year (solar or lunar calendar are sometimes used) you age another year. so if you're born on dec 31st you'll be 2 years old the next day (by solar calendar). In many parts of the world you're an adult at 18, in korea this would be 19 then.
The Big 3. For almost 20 years the korean music industry was ruled by 3 main entertainment companies (like bighit): SM, YG and JYP. there are tons of other labels but those 3 were always at the top, had the most money and most 'refined' artists. until small company bighit came along with BTS who organically surpassed those three one by one until now that their market value is higher than those of the big 3 combined. (Btw, blackpink is singed under YG and is arguably their biggest hit these recent years, but they've only debuted 5 years ago. BTS 8 years ago).
And the video would've helped with getting the names down if you had looked at the video in addition to the subs 😂😂 But I understand that that's difficult all! I've seen this video, without exaggeration, around 50 times lol I can recite it.
In Korea when a baby is born it is considered a one-year-old.

Not sure how familiar you are with Asian performers so wanted to mention a few things...
* Maknae is like youngest or little brother.
Many of the boys are often called this amongst the group depending on the moment, but as mentioned - JK is their golden boy, and its pretty obvious to see why he is cherished by them as he is - there is just something about him. You often see this, bashful, mischievous - innocent aura around him. They are very protective of him and take such good care of him, but if you watch other video feeds, you will find that he can be a pretty a fierce protector of his Hyungs too. In fact, they are all very protective of each other. Their loyalty to one another is just one of the things that makes them so endearing to their global ARMY fanbase. Their story is phenomenal, when you start to scratch the surface. which you've JUST started to do.
* The fan lights at concerts are very special with Asian groups. The 'Rainbow Ocean' mentioned here would be a HUGE gift from their fans. The worst thing that a Performer wants to see at their concert is called a 'Black Ocean', where all fans keep their lights off & remain silent as it means they've been rejected by their fans.
Imagine being on stage and all of a sudden your audience is silent after you' d completed your performance. You are expecting to hear vocal feedback and a normally well lit 'sea' of lights, but instead the stadium is ominously blacked out. This can occur when fans have decided they disapprove of something the performer(s) has said/ not said - done or not done.
* Also to be noted which was not included in the information you were reading from is a few of the singers are excellent artists. JK, and if my memory serves me - RM are in this category. JK is considered an exceptional painter. They have showed some of their work casually on some of their candid videos that they share with ARMY.
* A few of them have very high IQ's. For instance RM's is 148.
* This video was a great start for getting to know BTS, but it scratches the surface. It is not difficult to find information about them. Here on UA-cam there are groups dedicated to specific members where they collect all sorts of information. I am amazed sometimes and some of the candid clips that get posted. They are one group that is worth the investment of time to get to know better. :)
** Wiki has a lot of to the point information about each of them as well which would be a great starting point of reference for them if you were seriously interested in getting to know them more.

Someone probably already said it but the term "big 3" relates to entertainment companies, not groups. For many years SM, YG and JYP were the largest and most successful companies that were responsible for groups like Big Bang (YG), Wonder Girls (JYP) and Shinee (SM). When BTS started Big Hit was a very small company and those groups usually struggle quite a bit. Nowadays Big Hit (Hybe) is more successful than any of the "big 3" companies, largely due to BTS.
Blackpink is under YG but they debuted 3 years after BTS. Examples for current JYP groups are Twice, Itzy and Stray Kids. SM groups would be NCT, aespa or Red Velvet.
