She didn't seem to be interested in people at all, which is just as well. I couldn't have afforded the price tag that the store asked for her. I went back to the store about a month later and Miss Hilary was gone. I remember stroking her sleek back, and Hilary's head turned to almost snap at me. I don't generally get that reaction from parrots, so I imagine she was angry that a lot of other people did the same thing, tried to touch her as she was so beautiful.
+D Thomas Tara is a sweetie once she gets to know someone. She'll get onto a stranger's shoulder but to pet her head takes a few visits before she'll trust a new person.
Some poeple get intimidated by these large birds...but just as this video shows they are friendly and docile by nature....one reason why there is such high demand for them as pets.

When I was younger I had a little hyacinth macaw plush and I used to carry that plush everywhere I really wanted a hyacinth macaw but my mom would definitely not let me have one but maybe one day I'll get one it really depends on the state you live in and the people that had it first because sometimes macaws can get out of control and hurt you but hopefully one day I'll find a good one
Minshino Just in case you really don't know, it IS a Hyacinth Macaw. The Sphinx Macaw is extinct. That is the one that "Blu" is in the movie RIO. They are now gone from the wild. Search UA-cam and it will show you footage of the last one that was sent back to South America in hopes that it would breed.

From the Hyacinths I've been around and seeing videos like these, it seems they're all very affectionate cuddly birds. My family had several parrots growing up and while they would perch on us and liked being loved on, this is a whole different level.
That's why I wanted a Hyacinth macaw they're so beautiful and affectionate and I'm also really affectionate and we would be like a perfect little match just cuddling each other I also really love cuddles but honestly it depends on the people that own the bird first
You are lucky. That is one bird that you should never make angry, as they are equipped with the strongest bill of any bird and can cut right through your finger like a pair of loppers.
She is big. When I hold her like this, her longest tail feather reaches to my knees! Now, I'm only 5 feet tall but still that is a long feather... Quakers are cute little parrots. No matter the size of the parrot, they steal our hearts.
I used to cuddle with my hyacinth Opus like this all the time. My ex-husband I did the tail - end of his hand - feeding when he was all head and beak! I miss him so much 😢 but HE got custody since he bought him. I got the imported blue-front Amazon, but he had become sexual mature and too aggressive (he was a wild import, born in 1984), and once sweet and talkative, would bite me and attack my ankles. I gave him away to a good breeder (I thought), but they left town without a forwarding address! Opus was born in 1988, so would 29 now.
Sorry to hear about the custody loss of your hyacinth. My boyfriend had an Amazon & we had to give him to another home. He too became to aggressive when we'd give attention to the other birds.
I've never seen a hyacinth in real life and I've never held a macaw at all. It must be so amazing to hold one and for one to love you like that.

The Hyacinth Macaws are, in my opinion, the most beautiful Macaws in the world.
Well they are the largest, but I think cuteness belongs to scarlet macaws with all thier brightly colored feathers and long tail
