Burke was a very good player but in 18 years he NEVER led the league in home runs, RBI, average, stolen bases……….he did lead the league once in runs scored. You can look at his averages over a 162 game schedule to get an idea of how good he was, very good, but not a HOFer.
I was at this game. Well, kind of. It was raining that night and I left when the game looked like it was going to be canceled. Yeah, that was not smart.
another layer of impossible - nomo's pitching strategy was fastball/forkball. his fastball wasn't that good so his forkball had to be devastating, which it was. at sea level. at coors his forkball was just an average breaking pitch. combined with an average fastball, it's literally a miracle none of those roided up monsters just mashed at least one home run to the moon.
In retrospect, I probably could have included it, seeing as the video was more about the circumstances around the no-hitter rather than the no-hitter itself.
Those weren’t the greatest times to be a Dodgers fan, lotsa heart ache & disappointment, but NomoMania was good times. I bet there are many kids today who think the Dodgers compete every year, since they have for nearly a decade, but there were some tough times (1994 strike year when we were in 1st place 😢).
Great video
Thank you!
Good job!
Thanks!
it wasn't just that he tossed a no-no, this was also before the baseballs were kept in humidors.
That is a very good point, so he was dealing with VERY live baseballs.
Great video, just subscribed!!!
Thank you! Tell your friends about us too!
Great video. Great pun at the end. Nice to hear your voice again bro
I appreciate it dude, I'm glad you liked it
"Hideo No No" too good. Later he pitched one for my team the Red Sox
He pitched no hitters at two of the most difficult places to do it, a legend
Great video 👍 glad you talked about it. Love your style
Appreciate it!
I’ve been thinking of doing an Ellis Burks video, I think he would’ve made the HoF if he stayed healthy
I didn't realize how little he played, which is surprising since he had 18 seasons in the league

Do it. Kinda Crazy Burks had only a handful of full seasons out of like 18. Could've been close to 500 homers and 3,000 hits, if he had a full career.

It reminds me of a game I went to recently and left early. My team won in the next inning
nice video
Thank you!
Imagine Barry bonds played in coors his whole career. It’s really stupid and I love it
I wish, but baseball reference makes it possible to dream
He doesn't need any more asterisks by his name.

Everything was working against him and yet he still was able to pitch this game, it's always baffling to look back on
Nice thumbnail
Nice and bright, with great word choice
You could have shown us the highlight video at least.

I'm glad he got a chance to play with the Mets, that's why I know about him.
