3 METHODS TO BOIL WATER WITH THE POWER OF SUN

  • With an old satellite dish and mirror foil you can very easily make fire. Here are three ways how you can boil water with the power of the sun. There are countries on the world where wood is used to make fire. Forests are very important in the fight against the genesis of deserts.
    The methods shown here can help to protect the forests. Green energy.
    To gather wood, the time is not necessary.

    Thank you for this. Information on timing and quantity of water is good to have. I'll be on the lookout for an old satellite dish and already have a load of clean tins waiting painting. Biggest problem is sunshine and Scotland do not blend very often.

    Two questions:
    1) How long does a stationary dish work during the day since the rotation of the Earth means the Sun is constantly moving through the sky and therefore light reflects off of it at different angles?
    2) If I had three or four of these mirrors focused on different sides of the black tin can, how much higher do you think the temperature would go?

    • @diyforge
      @diyforge  8 років тому +3

      the focus remains about 20 minutes put on one. readjust after 20 minutes.
      For 4 cups the time to cook fast ller may be. but it is very costly. better a large bowl about 1,5m. so can melt steel. but be careful of eyes and hands.

    Thinking of how coal fired and nuclear power plants could be converted to solar fired power plants. I mean all coal and nukes do is boil water. Parabolic mirrors, magnifying glass.....

      yes everything is possible but we need sunlight.

    Why can't third method be used to desaline the water .....I guess it will be very cost effective since only material required is lens and black can. It might solve the water problem of world.

      I think you have concerns, parts of the paint can be in the water. And that's certainly not healthy. But I didn't say you can boil water and drink it. But only heating for other purposes.

  • @baboengila

    Heey there. I'm very interested in this kind of technique, I'm thinkiing to create a diy project, a mini steam generator to run a turbine for generating a small amount of electricity. The usual heat here is quite good 30-35C.
    I know that colloring black will make heat to be more effectively absorbed by the can. But what paint should I used to coat/color it? And where could I get this kind of mirror? or if I should make one, what material should I use?
    Any help will be great, thanks :)

      The color black and darker colors on the spectra generally absorb heat whereas silver and white reflects it. That's the reason few people paint their cars with dark shades down here in Texas, most people choose red or silver because it doesn't conduct heat as well.

    Why couldn't this be a method of turning a turbine for green energy?
    So far, most of the ways we get power is to boil water to make steam to turn a turbine. I could imagine one giant lense in the desert on one giant black tank of water. Seems like a no brainer. There must be something horribly wrong with the idea.

    • @diyforge
      @diyforge  2 роки тому

      In principle, you said everything correctly, but desert and water are not easy to find together. But the more you could try and produce drinking water at the same time.
