Tonight I got to share the little that I know with my teen group at church. We do bushcraft stuff mainly. It was a magical feeling to see a kid trying indirect percurssion. Some get so interested, it's hard to make them stop!
Glass jars and bottles are usually have a ridge of thicker glass around the outside edge. This makes them uniquely problematic. I try to remove as much of the outside edge as possible before knapping the rest. Otherwise it is painfully difficult. I can see that the part of the bottom that you are knapping is that edge.
That was helpful. Watching you negotiate the slopes of the edge. That was tedious. I have been doing the bottoms of Ball jars recently. Good work. Like you said, that is a pain.
watched the 1st, watching the 2nd, had to comment, you sir are true master craftsman/knapper... taking a material most throw away without a second thought.... love it....
I may have already asked you if you had knapped any common opal Can't remember getting any answer. ( I am an old guy 😊 ) So have you knapped any common opal ? I have a deposit near me here in eastern Wa. Would you like some ? Let me know
Almost think that glass harder to knapp than obsidian. Maybe? Got to get back into the glass. You motivate people, ya know. Very nice point.
Bottle glass is stronger than most obsidian.
Pretty cool....Nice job!!
Thanks

Another outstanding example of expert craftsmanship.

Gorgeous point. I would've step fractured the hell out of that lmao
Highly discriptive and so timely. Like many of my doubts were addressed.
