I bet the mean girl doesn't have a mirror like this at her house.
It's actually sad when you think about it.

Thank you for sharing this story. I have been a fan of you for a long time. I’m a native of Ningbo and now live in Texas. I have a son of the same age as Eva. What you did to cheer her up after the incident (is bully a more appropriate word?) is amazing. What is even better is she has done the same to you. Besides boosting one’s confidence, this is a great way to strengthen the bond among family members and appreciate each other. Hope to see more updates on your channel.

@@JaYoeNation Texas is not bad. We are in Houston and it is very diverse. They say 1 in 4 Houstonians were born outside the country. Every kid is playing some sports, be it soccer, baseball, football, tennis, basketball, swimming, field hockey, you name it. Lots of good Chinese restaurants here. Let me know when you get down here

Aww..I can totally relate. Being discriminated against growing up in United States during the 80s. Eventually I became a good observer and found some good friends from other minority communities. Glad you are there to guide her. Hope Eva can find good friends and stay away from those who are mean to her. Best regards to Annie.

The affirmations that Eva and you did on the bathroom mirror and shower glass were very great! ❤
That kid at lunch was being racist! Poor Eva. Have you tried to report that incident to the principal? Please do. I hope she or any other kids won't have to go through that again.

    Hi Matt,
My son had a simular thing happen in elementry school, fortunately I think most kids grow more accepting as they get to middle school and beyond. In Highschool he had a guy mock him for dying his hair black (he obviously doesn't), he just laughed and replied " Dude I'm Chinese, think about it!" (he's also white, so it isn't always apparent)

On a funnier note, when my son was about 8 years old, in one of his first Cub Scout meetings he had to make a calendar to track healthy eating habits. One of the other kids finished early and asked, "what do I do now?" The Den leader jokingly said now do it in Chinese! I always took him to meetings so I'm sure he had no Idea my son's ethnicity. I was sitting in the back of the room, and about 5 minutes later I hear the Den leader say to my son "What is that?" He said it's my calendar. "yes, but what are the squiggly lines?" My son said "that's Chinese, you said do it in Chinese!" Funny thing is he had just learned days & numbers in Chinese school that week!

Matt, my wife and I know exactly what you and your family have just gone through. We experienced the same thing several times over the years from adults who taught their children the same truly racist attitude they have as bullies. We experienced this behavior in California and still do as it is a learned behavior. You did well with your child. Wish you well my friend.

Sorry your daughter was teased, that's awful. I don't get it. We just moved our kids from China to the U.S., and the experience has been 100% positive and accepting for them. We moved them out of China because they were too strongly discriminated against there.

    • @barrycarter8276

Not being funny but the US is what’s causing disunity in the world by demonising such as China. The Chinese people aren’t ignorant and stupid. The demonising doesn’t differentiate between non political Chinese citizens and the CCP., though why the US can’t just accept when it comes to ideologies there’re different strokes for different folks I don’t know. But then US does like creating disunity and conflict. Just in case you think what do I know, my great grandson of 16 months (UK English, of Celt and Viking blood) lives in Beijing, my grandson and granddaughter in-law, say speak the native language and you can conquer most things, and I agree. Cultural understanding is different to interpretation🤔
