One of the greatest animal conservation shows ever produced. I remember watching this show very Sunday night with my dad. First Wild Kingdom at 6:30pm Wonder World of Disney at 7pm, Bonanza at 8pm! And then of course the Sunday Mystery Movie at 9p!

YOU ARE CLUELESS. IT REALLY WAS THE BIGGEST SHAM. AND ABUSE OF ANIMLALS EVER😢😢 THEY FORCED ANIMALS INTO STRANGE LOCATIONS. STOLE ANIMALS FROM THEIR NATURAL HOMES. FORCED THEM INTO FIGHTS. DRUGGED THEM😢. ATE THEM TOO. WE CAN 👀 👀 THE FEAR, IN THESE ANIMALS. AS THEY ARE FORCED INTO SITUATIONS THEY NEVER ASK FOR😢😢

AAAH the nostalgia!!! For all you young people, Steve Irwin and the Wild Kratt brothers were named Marlin and Jim back in the 70s. We watched them every Sunday evening after church and before The Wonderful World of Disney on NBC. And many of us saw this on black and white TVs.

Typical episode opens with Marlin circling above a wild life scenario in the Bell Ranger helicopter, narrating as: "While Jim uses his incredible luck and spry, nimble tactics, I circle and watch from the safety of the helicopter." Loved watching this series as you often witnessed some unexpected animal reactions in their purest form.

Great show!!! Marlin would say something like "watch Jim as he tackles this lion!!! Things got a little close on that one! But if Jim would have got hurt He and his family would have been covered thanks to Mutual of Omaha!! Jim was a very brave, and very stout & strong guy!!! He did some amazing thing!!! RIP Jim!

Modern special effects not needed! I watched Wild Kingdom in the 60's. It was a family favorite. I was about age six when it first aired and watched it weekly. Although I didn't know the word "exhilarating", I sure felt it. Of all the episodes, the one that I remembered most was the Anaconda. The film production, music, everything; was perfect.

Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom was instrumental in my life. My dad, mom, brother and I watched it every week. We loved the show! It was always so exciting!
Partly because of Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom, when I grew up, did my tour in the USMC, I pursued a career in Natural Resources and was blessed by God to to have a wonderful career as a State Wildlife Officer (Game Warden, Conservation Officer). Three out of four of my children ended up with Natural Resources degrees. All four LOVE the outdoors. Thank you Mutual of Omaha's, Wild Kingdom.

What's really amazing from an aesthetic viewpoint is how consistently unchanging the overall ambience of "Wild Kingdom" was over its run. This late, late episode, from the mid '80s (a year before Marlin passed away) has the look, sound and "feel" of a mid '60s show, or maybe early '70s at the latest--only Marlin and Jim's obvious aging and the sterile '80s video opening/closing credits giving it away. Elsewhere on TV we had "Knight Rider", MTV, high tech stuff...none of that in the Wild Kingdom!

When God is taken out of our country, we become soul less.Christians have completely lost all power and control of America. We must unite as a whole and retake our country and claim our Christian identity. Christians have exactly 0 influence in American Media. Those that control the media control the minds,Those that control the minds control everything. Our biggest enemy is the media, they manipulate the masses and control our lives. Its finally time to wake up.

david D. I wonder how is it possible that Christians did lose so much influence in such a short time. I am from Germany. I observe this development here too. It is really scary because the Bible is timeless. No matter how much science progresses it will never be possible to explain God and the Bible away because God is the beginning and the end of all creation. The one with the anaconda in the water was obviously the most dangerous, coupled with the alligator capture. Elephant incident was dangerous, but with the knowledge of the elephants and the vehicle advantage, you were able to get away. Besides, you should've known approaching the mother with the young calf would've been dangerous anyway, so you should've kept the distance. I can't always agree with using a noose over cheetahs & cougars. The animal can end up injured of death had he decided to put up a better fight.
I do understand those were fifty years ago & I need to see this in context with the times.

Finally the Marlin appears - surprisingly he avoids the claws of the said Ant Eater...........(would like to see the behind the scenes footage when Stan is pissed and calls the Marlin out!)

I tried to grab a cougar, alligator, condor, you name it, I tried to grab it. Amazingly, all of a sudden, it fought back, I was in a dangerously unexpected moment. I did this again and again, but the animals never learned, and kept tuning in, week after week.

What's the point of using a shark cage if the opening is plenty large enough for the shark to enter?

That fact that they *did* survive ought to count for something.
Otoh, the show's sponsor *was* an insurance company. lol

yeah i agree and it's a fact that a lot of the stuff you see on wild kingdom was staged. but people have to realize that the viewing public of the 50s and 60s ate that stuff up. but looking back at this now, some 40 years later, a lot of it looks cruel. but kudos to the perkins and fowler as it made for entertaining television. and let's not forget they're pioneers.
