A lovely video, more relaxed and chatty intro to your town, rather than a yacht.

What a great walk, loving those coves at the end before heading back up to the woods. I'd forgotten how nice Brixham is. A visit is well overdue.
Back in the early/mid 80's we chartered a couple of fishing trips to Guernsey from there, think the skipper was a chap called Albert King and his boat Seaking(?), so say one
of the fastest on the south coast back then . The B&B we stayed in was at the top of some steep steps just along from the Golden Hind, it was a long hard slow stroll/stumble back up after
the pubs had shut. Thanks for bringing back those memories Nick. Keep safe, soon be back out on the water.

What a fantastic journey, another very well crafted masterpiece of early morning scenic outdoor enjoyment. You can see the love and care put into the shots, the interesting commentary and trivia really brings a place to life. The choreographed trip, love it! Going to pick you up on the retired look though, you only fall into a stereotype by choice, I challenge your next walk in a brightly coloured loud Hawaiian shirt, white shorts and trainers. These walks are spectacular, and I really hope you continue them after normality resumes, different coastal locales at home and abroad. I know they havent arrived the viewing figures yet, but they will, people just need to discover them. The music choice at the end, truly delightful, perfectly fitting and closed the trip superbly. Thank you so much. 😉😊⚘

Brixham's lovely! I went on holiday there when I was younger in the 90s. Pretty sure I did most of that walk. Certainly looked at the breakwater and the marina (because I was slightly obsessed with boats) and I might even have looked at the boats for sale in the window of your brokers. We went mackerel fishing (because as a family we had to go on at least one boat whilst on holiday).

Bravo! Each walk has been better than the one before. If you ever contemplated a course correction in your life’s journey, the quality of these walks suggest you are a natural cinematic creator. For those of us who are still in our personal bunkers, going stir crazy, these walks transport us from our all too familiar surroundings, and submerses us in the sights and sounds of nature in the natural surroundings of the places you call home. Thanks for your journeys to the quaint places we all yearn to visit but can do so vicariously. I LMAO when you quipped the hills there are all up hill no matter which way you go.

I meant to do this yesterday, but our internet went out. when I was a young lad, I'm guessing the late 70s, my family stayed in a holiday camp near Brixham, I don't recall much apart from the Golden Hind and that you had to walk down a bit of a lane to a little cove, and then through a stone archway, and over the cliffs to get to the town. So I have kind of been waiting with anticipation as your walks have taken you gradually in the Brixham direction. This week much to my delight there it is, stone archway and all. Very cool, Thanks for that!

Brixham looks lovely: very reminiscent of Whitby (or a larger 'Robin Hoods Bay') on the North Yorshire coast, though there seems to be very little of Brixham's trawler fishing heritage still in evidence.
A couple of years ago, I did a little bit of genealogy and discovered that my great, great grandfather and his family, on my maternal grandmother's side, (her father's father) were a fishing family in Brixham. In the mid 1800s, The Brixham trawlers had been tempted to fish further from home to take advantage of the 'silver pits' of the North Sea, (where legend said that the cod were so abundant, that you could walk from trawler to trawler on the backs of the fish,) and would return home to Brixham after every trip to land and sell their catch.
That was until the 'great storm' of 1866, when the trawlers couldn't get back into harbour under sail so had to attempt to row in, and the beacon on the breakwater had been swept away, so as darkness fell, the fishermen's wives and families dragged furniture and bedding from their homes, down onto the breakwater and burned it to provide a bonfire as navigation reference for their husbands and fathers. Many were killed that night and a lot of ships were lost, and as a result, my great, great grandather, (one Edwin Hayman, born 1831 in Torquay,) and many of his Brixham fleet colleagues, decided to transfer their entire families to Hull on the Humber estuary, near to the East Yorkshire coast, where the fishing trade was still in its infancy but growing steadily, (Hull had previously been a whaling port,) knowing that fishing for their catch in the North sea, and landing it and selling it in Hull, would be quicker, cheaper and a lot less dangerous than making the long trek all the way from Brixham to the North Sea and then back to Devon.
Many of Edwin's descendents still live in Hull today, (including me 😊) but in his later years, Edwin himself, accompanied by the family of one of his married daughters, eventually returned to Brixham where he died aged 89, in Brixham, only a few miles from where he was born.
