Sorry bro, I love Zen and he totally deserves the recognition... but point counting is just the worst way to estimate a player contribution, especially in 3v3.
You are not credited by the system for any awesome anticipation actions, for bumps, for positioning. Midfield actions are basically not credited, patience skills are not, defensive actions are rarely, offensive actions are only half of the times, being generous with it. Communication quality (being a team captain, being supportive, being a motivator, being a rock during shitty situations, etc.) are obviously not taken in account. Meanwhile, actual stupid action (or inaction) aren't either. Mistakes doesn't cost anything in points to this player, leading to overestimate the score of the ones who play the most aggressively and dangerously, without any actual good balance.
All in all it ends up meaning nothing. Absolutely nothing. You could argue any sort of information has potential intel, but it's a well known fact in statistics and human science: shit in, shit out.

I'm biased since I'm French... But with the current amount of excellent French players, that hardly could be the reason.
I personally tend to prefer the underdog, the unexpected, the team player rather than the flashy player.
But Zen is everything of that. Both flashy yet humble. Both hyped yet underdog.
To me, the most important part is he has no issue playing the uncredited, unrewarding, boring actions that will help the team. Of course he is extremely impressive because of his mechanics and so on, and he will play on that when the opportunity arise. But extremely impressive mechanical players, we have seen a lot. Meanwhile Zen put his skills at the service of the team, that is why I went from "ho, this guy is interesting" to "ok, this guy is actually great".
Also Alpha is a very similar player in my opinion. And Radosin is very much the team player. That's why I very much prefer Vitality over other teams. When you watch their game, you can feel the synergy flowing.

It really is insane to see. He reacts to each part of it BEFORE it happens. He's in the air before the ball is touched. He got the wide angle PERFECTLY, no adjustments needed. The Z axis was off slightly, since it bounced, but you can see him recognize that it's going to bounce, and points downward before it hits the ceiling. Crazy read, damn near prescience.

Might be alone on this and maybe im missing something but I feel like this wasn't a good tourny for MENA. Not because I don't think they are good enough to show up, but just because they didn't show up nearly as much as I think they could have. I feel like on their day, their best teams are even better than NA's best teams (I'm NA don't complain). I feel like Rule One, if they're on form, could have easily made top 4. Seeing them at Boston and knowing the rate at which they have been improving lately I don't feel like top 4 is a stretch. But they kinda flopped out because they couldn't stand up to NA teams, which I feel like was a major mix up. I thought they would have had both spacestation and G2 locked down. Idk, I'm curious to hear others thoughts?

    • @ziadkhayat7299
      @ziadkhayat7299 Рік тому

I mean, yeah, they didn’t perform to their peak, but that’s to be expected when they only send one team to majors and the region as a whole is still very early in its development.
Consistency will improve, especially if they get more spots, and even with underperforming, they outplaced Sam.
At this point it’s pretty clearly ludicrous that Sam has more spots than them, and let’s not even talk about oce.
That’s a big improvement from last year. So yeah, could’ve gone better, but still huge for the region.

@@francisbout1311 that event has very little meaning to RLCS. Of course mena will shine on home soil with a format favoring teams with strong 1v1 and 2v2 players. And everything pretty much being bo1s only further decreases the expectations of RLCS rankings being preserved.
It’s a good sign, but not very meaningful for next season.

I'm from North America and my favorite teams are GenG and Vitality. But it doesn't take a genius to see that NEMA has already surpassed NA as the second best region and are on their way to fully challenging EU.

CJCJ did an awesome job at building and sustaining hype throughout the 4 games. Often I prefer the more measured and slow paced conversational style of casting, and Johnny is my number 1 especially for the way he contenxtualises series and develops narratives. Yet here, I liked the way Shogun and CJCJ complimented each other and had many quotable moments, especially for a historic final!

I feel like gamers8 will be a MENA party im ngl. Now i could be proven wrong, but don't forget that zen will have to face his arch nemesis Rw9 who is 2-0 against him, and Rw9 + kileerz is a top duo as well + their 3's can beat a lot of teams. Honestly I think vitality will struggle in the 2's part of the tourney but will still go very far because of their 1's and 3's dominance. It's just teams like V1 and the mena boys are so dominant in 2's and 1's that it'll be hard for vitality for sure.

SC - beat Moist then 0-4 KC
SI - beat HM then 1-4 Vit
    SM - 2-4 Vit then 1-4 Vit
