For the record, Bowser, the bass singer for Sha Na Na, was very skinny. His body bordered on appearing emaciated. He had thin facial features. The guy from the Righteous Brothers with the deeper voice was the thinner of the two of them. The😂bass singer for the Oak Ridge Boys at the height of their popularity was not only the thinnest. He was also the shortest member of the group. Physical scale is not the measure of the depth or height of a person's voice. My nephew is 5'8" and thin, yet he is the primary bass in his church choir. I was singing baritone and bass as a skinny teenager. Just thought you might care to know that stuff.
I sang in choirs during my childhood, and this is the traditional line up for an ensemble. You have Kirsten (soprano), Mitch (Counter Tenor), Kevin (Tenor/Beatbox), Scott (Baritone) and Avi (Bass). All bases are covered, but there are levels to this. They sing to the highest levels imaginable.
I saw them on Monday in Irvine and last year at the Hollywood Bowl (with my 80+ year old landlord 😁). I introduced her to PTX about a month before the concert last year, and she's been down the rabbit hole with the rest of us Pentaholics ever since. She even got some of her church friends (also elderly) to go the Irvine show 😄.
Oh, my gosh, you two…Pentatonix absolutely OWNS Christmas music and you will be amazed at how good it is! Start with O Come All Ye Faithful and you will see what I mean! Also since you’re fans of Avi, Silent Night is not to be missed. For both of these you need the official versions with videos to get the complete experience. I’m subbing for more PTX!
You guys are adorable and you have my sub, hoping for more PTX! She says she doesn't like Christmas music - I am not a Christian and I absolutely love their christmas music - I think she would enjoy their renditions of the songs specifically! It always happens that if someone hates a particular song, they see PTX cover of it and it's not so loathsome after that lol. A way to get around copywrite I have seen from other reactors is 1) making the video slightly smaller 2) lowering the opacity of the video so your background can be seen through it 3) layering words over the video such as 'Blocked Due To Copywrite' 4) Putting a filter over the video to further distort it 5) pausing the video to make commentary and then just rewind a few seconds to get back into the flow of the music. For the most part it is the video itself that causes the claims. sometimes it is the sound but most often it is the video itself, so obscuring it helps a lot to get it by copywrite claims.
@@GingerJohnson-uu9lw Really?! My late husband was 6'7". I was 5'4" when we got married (down to 5' even, now - our spines tend to compress with age). He called me "the little woman" ONCE. I told him what would happen if he ever did it again, and that was the end of THAT 😉. Actually, I'm sorry to hear that about Scott, and not because scoliosis can be painful (though it can). The human heart isn't optimized for such a large body. It tends to wear out faster in very tall people - my husband required a pacemaker in his early sixties. I hope Scott is aware of the danger. At least we know he can afford good health care.
I didn't see that you've posted reactions to any of Avi's songs other than "Change on the Rise". I'd recommend these 2 originals of his, as they demonstrate the breadth of his styles and genres. The first is the Sunset Sound session version of "When I'm a Fool", and the second is the 7 Layers Sessions version of "All Is Well", filmed in a church in Utrecht, Netherlands during his 2022 European tour.
I can't wait to see her reaction to Kevin's voice. Talk about a voice that you don't expect. I guess I would suggest "Amazing Grace" or "Mary Did You Know".
@margretrosenberg420 I agree that he doesn't touch his capacity as much in Imagine, but he gets more exposure. He rarely gets to bring out that brilliant falsetto he can do. That is him at his best as a singer. It reminds me of the Jamaal character from Sister Act 2 when he shocks them with his falsetto. That look on Whoopi's face when he did that was genuine, and I get the same reaction when I get to hear Kevin do it. He goes falsetto at least once a concert if you have seen them live. Just as you can be certain that Kirstie is going to belt somewhere in a song.
@@heinleinreader I've only been to one Pentatonix concert, and it was atypical. On November 19, 2022, a murderer with an assault rifle walked into Club Q, a queer nightclub in Colorado Springs, about 70 miles south of my home west of Denver. He planned to reproduce the horror of the Pulse massacre. This time we got lucky. This time there was a hero present who saw people he loved being killed and ran TOWARD the danger. And against all the odds, this unarmed man succeeded in taking down a man in body armor wielding an assault weapon, using only his bare hands and his own body weight. Because of him, this time we "only" lost five people. One was the mother of an 11 year old daughter 😢. At least two were shot while attempting to protect others - most heros don't live long enough to tell us that they aren't "really" heros, the way the man who took down the gunman did. That was November 19. I first heard about Club Q on November 20, when I was in my seat at Denver's Ball Arena, checking email on my phone while waiting for Pentatonix to come on stage for my first ever live PTX concert. It was like a punch in the gut. I've lost so many gay friends over the years, to AIDS, suicide, simple old age and heart failure, and the thought of any of those beloved friends in Club Q brought back all of those old losses. So if the Club Q shootings affected me so strongly, imagine what they did to Pentatonix. Eventually Mitch and Scott came out. Mitch led us in a moment of silence and then Scott talked about queer nightclubs, how they're supposed to be safe places for members of the LGBTQ+ community to meet with families, friends, and allies for some conversation and fun. And what it's like when your safe place suddenly becomes someone's killing field. Then, on behalf of Pentatonix, Scott pledged a large sum of money to the recovery efforts in Colorado Springs, and the rest of the band came out, and the concert commenced. I believe all of this resulted in the concert beginning 30 minutes late, and I'd already known I might have to miss the last few minutes in order to catch the last bus that would take me back to where my car was parked. Because of the late concert start I had to leave during "The Kevin Show." And I was already frazzled by the news out of Colorado Springs; that left a dark cloud over everything. I remember being annoyed that the lighting was so bad that I couldn't watch Cost n' Mayor's dancing properly (apparently PTX had receivved complaints that the dancing was distracting so they'd deliberately degraded the lighting), and I remember being startled by Matt's range when they sang "Hallelujah," but my most vivid memories of that concert are Club Q and how cold I got before I finally made it back to my car.
Nice reaction, both of you. They do way more than Christmas stuff, guys!! Some suggestions: Mad World, Coffee In Bed (original), Bohemian Rhapsody, Creep ( they do it at recent concerts or use the unmasked version from The Masked Singer. There's also several other songs they did for the show you could check out), Be My Eyes (original).
Check out Havana, Bohemian Rhapsody, Evolution of Michael Jackson, Evolution of Beyoncé, Rihanna, Ariana, Popspring 2016 Live, SING, Gold, 90’s Dance Medley, And SOOOO many more! They have a LOT more than just Xmas Music 😊. Enjoy
It's specifically the video that gets reactions hit with copyright claims. If you make the video translucent so we can see you and your environment through it or put some kind of a screen on it, as if, for instance, we're seeing it through a rainy window, that should get rid of the copyright issues.
Try blurring or putting a screen over the video. One reactor has even cartooned them! We will still be happy, we have all seen the videos numerous times!! Watching your reaction is the fun part. As long as you don't miss the sound we are good. Hope the wedding is blessed with good weather and joyous times.
Hey , you didn't sing this song in church, this hallelujah was written by the legendary Leonard Cohen, its about love and sex, other verses (as sung by Cohen) goes into lurid detail of the act. It was used in Shrek and other places.
Kirstin isn't married yet. However, given that she and her fiance, former Pentatonix photographer/videographer Ben Hausdorf, have a daughter together (now 16 mos. old), it's only a matter of time.
Listen to PTX versions of Sugar Plum Fairy, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and O Come All Ye Faithful and you may learn to love Christmas music--it's not the versions you heard in church.
This is not a christmas song. This is the one thing they got wrong. Is Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah a religious song? The name of his most famous song, Hallelujah, would seem to stem from his spiritual quest, but its biblical imagery is merely a vehicle for his dark view of love. Leonard Cohen, dark pop icon, died Thursday at age 82, after a life-long search for faith
Kirstin isn't actually married (she's engaged to her baby daddy), so you're not off the hook completely (and you seem to be digging your hole deeper and deeper)!

I just saw Them Monday and it was amazing .This was my second time seeing them in concert. I saw them last Sept. I can't get enough. Lol ❤
Actually, Mitch is 5'11". He's slender, but he only looks short because Scott is 6'4".
Actually…Scott is 6’4” but he has scoliosis. He would be 6’7” if he was standing straight.

So much more than just Christmas song. Original is out called I Rise

@@heinleinreader More than a little - he solos for an entire verse. But he pretty much sticks to the low end of his range in "Imagine."

A PTX Xmas-must is „Mary did you know“…
You don't hear that basso profundo come in? Of course, he's not just another pretty bass! More Avi solo music please.

U think she would love 'Love Again '
Sometimes people cover the video partially with a text („Copyright“ or smthg) - that seems to work.
PTX don't just 'have' a female singer. She is the founder - creator of this acapella group.

Recommend their cover of Come Along.
Since she wants HF to have a female voice, give her one with "Delta Dawn"...
But Mitch is about 6 foot or 6 foot 1 inch or so. He's just thin.
5'11", dude.
