Something that mystifies me a bit: I get tons of olives on my tree (a Manzanillo olive), but they are smaller than I would expect. The olives are about the size of the ones in the video that he says are small. I don't see anything wrong with the plant and it looks quite healthy. This was pretty informative: it explains why so many this year - we had a really cold winter.
The name of this olive is Turkish "trilye". There are about 40 million trees in Turkey. Our table is black olives. It contains 29% oil. It is the most resistant to cold weather.
I have an olive tree it is about a metre tall it has lots of buds on it . I assume these are flowers . Do the olives come when the flowers die off . Sorry it was a present so I am new to this
What PH do they need to grow well? I have 2 VERY small plants that I have in a commercial potting soil and, so far so good, BUT I do want to know IF they favor a PH that is more Alkaline or more acid, I am THINKING more Alkaline is likely. I already KNOW they need well drained soil.
Yes, it's currently not in bloom but when it starts showing signs of life next spring we will make a video. Thank you for your interest in our videos and our plants.
IF a person has 2 of the NON hybrids, just plain old Olea Europa, how long til it produces Olives? I will be growing 2 of them in my greenhouse since I am in zone 6a. I can keep them in a heated mini shelter inside my greenhouse so they don't go below freezing.
Can you keep pruning them so they stay under 7 feet tall? I was thinking about growing some peppers in my spare room with a growlight (it has two windows as well....and Id like to ad an olive tree if possible.
Yes we keep our trees under 7’ with pruning. Remember that they need a chill period to set bud which is usually in the 40’s at night for several months.
It sounds like to me west Texas would be a great place to start an olive grove ? Also why do Spanish olive trees produce the best flavored/tasting Olive oil
I just saw another video on potted olive trees: the guy recommended watering 3 times a week in the summertime, with feeding every 14 days or so. I'm not sure now what is best. In the meantime I can check the soil with a finger stuck into the soil to be sure it does not get root rot.
There are areas in Georgia that grow olives and are trying to develop a commercial industry. Generally they are hardy to zone 8 and can take temperatures to 20 degrees or the high teens for short periods. When we look at outdoor culture, the general lows need to be in the mid to low 20’s .
Hello. I am agronomist from Greece. Very good job. Well done.
every single video of yours, is most professional and excellent. thank you.
This video is incredible...I wish it existed when I got my first trees. I learned all of this the hard way, rite down to the scale
I really enjoyed this thanks. I follow a similar regime in Cheshire, England. Best wishes.

Do they need another tree of its kind to pollinate?

They prefer a more alkaline soil mix.
@@LogeesPlants Okay, Thank you so much.
can you make a video on how to grow a Barbados cherry tree
Yes, it's currently not in bloom but when it starts showing signs of life next spring we will make a video. Thank you for your interest in our videos and our plants.
Olives are soooooo tasty...🤪💯✔
Very I'm formative. I didn't know olive trees needed chill hours. I thought middle eastern temperatures were hot and dry all the time.
I'm assuming the cold desert nights help with that.
Man im in middle east and its snowing right now
In which month its flowers get out
They are spring bloomers :)

It takes a few years to produce.
@@LogeesPlants Okay thanks, that isn't too long.
@@LogeesPlants Thanks, I have purchased 2 small rooted cuttings off of Ebay.
Do you think in Southern California they would be ok?
They may be, however, they do require a chilling period to begin fruiting.

I suppose it may be due to quality of the olives.

We would suggest allowing the plant some time to dry out between waterings.
Do you recommend growing olive trees in Puerto Rico?
They can be grown in Puerto Rico.
What about Florida? Will it be too warm to ever bud?
This particular plant needs the 35-40 degree nighttime temps to bud.
Aloha, I live on the Big Island in Hawai`i. Do you know if it's possible 2 grow olive trees here?
They generally require a "chill" period. How cool does it get in your location?
I need olive plants to bangalore any one reply me pls
Winter time 50s-70s. Summer 70s-90s.
Should be fine :)
Holy tree 💚🌳
So any temperatures under 24°F would prove to be fatal? I guess we couldn't grow it outdoors in Georgia
