    You make great vids and read great blogs for cameras and street photography! After seeing all the vids about ricoh gr, i have decided to get a gr ii. I guess my old dslr will spend alot of time in the storage once the gr ii arrives.

      +Fangxian Chen hey congrats. It's a quirky camera so give it some time for you to learn to shoot with it. I find most cameras take about a couple of weeks for most to start feeling the pace and style of how it shoots. Once you do, you will enjoy how it shoots. It's no DSLR in terms of AF or noise control, but always having a camera with you is rule number 1 when it comes to getting a great image! Congrats again!

    love seeing your honest, almost too long, but keep me watching videos! I tune out so often on other channels, but your awkward canadian-ness shines through as a fellow Canadian! I have a quick question about 28mm compacts. I have shot with a GR before and enjoyed it, but I have G.A.S. and have traded it in a couple of times for other gear etc... I now use a coolpix A, which I have enjoyed quite a bit, and I guess my question is two-fold... first, have you used the coolpix A and put it up against the GR? And, if I told you I could get my hands on a limited edition with all of the accessories for about 300 more CAD, would you recommend the swap? thanks so much!

      +David Jones I've played with the Nikon Coolpix A and Nikon almost sent me one... until they decided to discontinue it. The Ricoh has better handling and customization, but if you're use to Nikon, I'm sure it feels like home. The best part of the Ltd Ed is the aesthetics and the GH-3 adaptor so you can use 49mm filters or the 21mm wide angle lens adaptor. If neither of these options are high priority, then stick with what works. I've always said the Ricoh GR isn't the best camera, it's just the best camera for my needs. Most would hate it, but since you have the Coolpix A, they both have similar benefits and quirks.

    Thank you for sharing, Take :) Looking forward to more videos of your experience shooting the cameras in Hong Kong. You know what would be great? A clip presented by Camera Girl, like her own view of what Hong Kong is about, and shot by you :)) Just an idea ;)

    Take, you mention that if you had to choose 2 cameras to take with you for travel, that you would choose your Ricoh GR & your iPhone. Now, after reviewing & having a chance to use the X70, do you still stand behind that or would you choose the X70? I ask because I have the X70 on order. Thank you!

      +Paul Anthony I mentioned choosing 2 cameras based on what I currently own. I own lots of camera equipment, but I do not own any of the newer cameras that I review. Based on what I currently own, yes the Ricoh GR and my iPhone would be what I would take on vacation based on my style of photography. However, this may not be the case for everyone.

    I noticed you put your smart phone in your pocket with the screen facing you. I once read that more radiation comes from the screen than from the back. The person who wrote the article suggested that you always put the screen facing away from you when you put the phone in your pocket. Just thought I'd pass that on to you if you're concerned about radiation. Nice video, as usual. Keep 'em coming!

    hey, bigheadtaco! i've been watching your videos since forever lol. will you do a comparasion between the new Sony Rx1r II and Leica Q ? I wanna buy one of these 2 cameras and i don't know which one is better in terms of battery life, low light performance, AF ( speed, accuracy, etc. ), noise performance ( which one has less noise you know ), color reproduction, image quality, which one has better jpegs and which one has better raws - things like that. sry about my english. i hope you understand what i wrote :D.

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  9 років тому

      +Cat Chewer probably won't be reviewing Sony products officially for awhile, but the new RX1 Mrk II is right up my alley. It looks great on paper. In terms of IQ, you just have to look at the Sony A7R mrk II as a comparison since it is using the exact same sensor (except for the variable low-pass filter technology).
      Head to head performance, I think the Sony will be better than the Leica Q, especially when the ISO starts to climb. However, the Leica has a superior mechanically coupled manual focus system and electronic viewfinder. The Sony is amazingly compact though, with a 49mm filter thread lens, which is amazing. The biggest consideration for me would be the lenses. Even if the Leica Q was better optically, could you live with the 28mm f/1.7 lens? Many who are Leica fans say they just can't do a 28mm lens. So I think this is the biggest consideration, the lens focal length, since you can't switch out lenses.

    Does the Fuji flash work on the Leica 109/Lumix LX100? I have been told that this will cause damages either on the camera or the flash because of the extra power pin in the connector. .

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  9 років тому

      +TGreve most decent flashes will work in manual mode on any camera with a proper flash hotshoe. It is the centre pin that triggers the flash. The other pins are for ttl or power or whatever extra feature added by the manufacturer to give the flash/body combination more control. The Fujifilm EF-X20 flash is cool because it has a manual dial with ratio power from 1/64th to 1/1 power output from a guide number of 20 metres. I've used this flash on pretty much all my cameras, from 1970's rangefinders to the most modern non-Fujifilm camera bodies.

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  9 років тому

      +TGreve I've used it on the D-Lux with no problem, but you can tape up the extra connectors if you're worried about damage to a non-Fujifilm camera. The only connector that counts is the centre one

      +bigheadtaco Thanks a lot for your answers. That is very good to know. I like the size of the EF-X20 and will buy one soon.

      Hey, just found your vids. Greetings from HK. Very finely made vids. Love them. Really think about going for Leica Q after your wonderful reviews

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  8 років тому +1

      +dovyhk the Q is great as long as you're committed to the 28mm angle of view. Most smart phones are 28mm equivalent so it's not a foreign angle of view.

      I have already a few of m lens which I want to make use of sometimes (28, 50 & 90mm prime, I used to have a film MP). perhaps I buy a A7RII afterwards, Leica Q looks convenient. Anyway, enjoy the weekend!

    I just read what I wrote and I sound like a total douche. totally not what I intended! I really meant it in an endearing, friendly way. your approach to videos makes me feel like you're a bit awkward, but you're professional, and very knowledgeable. your demeanor only enhances the watchability for me, if that makes any sense? I am drunk on beer and wine on a Friday after work, please forgive me.

      +David Jones It's a cultural thing, mate. Kind of how someone from Southern Africa may be too loud and up close when speaking in person, or how New York goers keep to themselves a lot. It's all relative.
