hey man! Great bash, too bad it did not survive the "grassy Knoll", lol. Interesting question you possed 'is the break justified". Im wondering that right now myself. The idler gear def should not break that easily tho, keep us posted!!
That's what I would think would happen. It broke hate be negative but Red Cat is top on my list to stay far away from. I had a Red Cat truck and it lasted 4 runs. The hardware was low grade say 2. The grade on my Arrma Gorgon is at least grade 5. I never had this truck in my hands so I may be full of fill in the blank. When I was "watching" your sweet video I was looking at the manual. The Front Caster Blocks don't look like they will last. Thanks keep up the good work.
Redcat is known for using weak metal same as the Shredder. There is also an overheating problem with the Vigilante center diff because it's plastic case not metal. Even ZD Racing uses a metal center diff case on 1/7 scale.
Thanks for the vid ya that was weak cheap gears for sure not your fault but i will give it credit for not breaking a arm with all the tumbling it did this truck is going to be awesome with a few upgrades
Thank god for mature RC YT content creators. All these Redcat Vigilante break videos saved me 900.00 bucks. Im no longer interested, i tried, i really did.
I will wait for second revision. These things braking on such little runtime isn’t great. Good looking and driving truck just no bueno on the durability factor.
I’m loving my vigilante. For 1, that million center diff fluid isn’t going to do it. I’ve got F 500k, C 20mill, R 200k. Done put a HW max 5 esc and HW 4990 1650kv motor with 23T pinion and the thing is a monster. Haven’t broke one single thing. If you know how to check all the screws and loctite the ones going into metal and most importantly know how to jump and land the truck.. it’s great. Took my Xmaxx and vigilante to the park a few days ago. Xmaxx broke and vigilante still running like a champ.
Maybe ill wait to perches one. i best be happy with the Arrma Anchor Outcasts all polished up. good video. keep us up on progress. ps. ill probably buy one anyway. lol Have Fun
Its funny how RC destroyer ThunderRC hasnt had gears issues driving and jumping sky high, yet you or RC Guy have broken stuff while not being an idiot driving it, still want one tho.
thanks for the real vdo , i'm bored from all those outsaled channel who only show 1m30 drive footage , never do more than 5 mmin run with the truck and saying its awesome buit jsut cut all damage out.....
Your welcome. It’s funny though with all the problems I have had…I still really do like the truck. It’s extremely stable, I don’t know why but it stays planted and will not roll, also the rest of the vehicle is durable including the body just minus the paint 🤣🤣. The only real issue for me has been the driveline which is a pretty big one 😳.
@@kgm5512 but they don't break first time out every time. Gotta really do something stupid to break something important. They also cost about double what the redcat does, it's not worth 1500 dollars.
I’m betting that Redcat will send replacement parts regardless but so is the world of Bashers price brand etc. don’t seem to make a difference all have issues but let’s use crawlers as an example none are perfect but it’s performance related not things breaking which is ok but to have Bashers constantly go down & not be able to even run gets old we pay $600/#700 & I’d be ok with things I need to adjust or replace in the future for better performance but for parts to break making consistently makes me glad I’m more into Crawlers then Bashers. I have a Lazernut that is a good example it’s a shelf Queen that is a $ pit that breaks every time. I’ve not bought another Losi since.
Unfortunate for me the do not feel the need to warranty this item. It’s ok I do understand the “pay to play” aspect of this hobby. I did do a video explaining how I feel this failure happened if your interested
Great Video! Hopefully you can help me out. I wanna get the 21T pinion gear for the Redcat but im wondering is the shaft 5mm. I see different gears that are 48P on a 21T pinion and i also see 32P on a 21T pinion. I just wasnt sure which one to get, thanks
@@kgm5512 .ok so basically any 32p 21Tooth pinion will work? Is it hard to change out? Do u also have to move the motor once u put the different pinion gear in. Thanks again
Man I dunno if it worth 1300 for it here in Canada if the gears strip out that easy been seeing a few people haveing problems with different areas of gears stripping if a guy left all the oils factory in the diffs would it still be doing that.....
@@kgm5512 i sheared my first rear differential gear, and the replacement shattered in the case within 3 minutes of driving. Never seen anything like it.

Yes as do I! It took to the tumbling well
Ive had nothing but positive things with my Vigilante 8s, huge sends , backflips and self uprighting
Mine must of been build at 3:15 on a Friday before a holiday weekend 🤣
Well it still ran great and took some hard tumbles, but yeah didn’t justify that type of breakage . Great video.
Thanks Marion!!
Definitely a bad ass run !! But as usual REDCAT gears don’t hold up !!
