People get so hypocritical about her voice when 10 times outta 10 they can't sing like here in 1985 nor in 2009. She is still and will always be THE VOICE period

that lady was confident af. no prerecorded vocals. No lipsync. She was considered the golden standard for all singers in her prime by the world. Everyone saw her struggle for a number of years. We heard her voice declining. Still she sang live.
I believe Whitney thought her voice was capable of getting back to how it was. I really do believe it was down to how much Whitney really wanted to do it …

I believe the vocal coach when he said if she HAD KEPT working with him she could have improved to later 90's vocals. There are notes she hits nice and clear during certain songs during this medley that proves that. We miss you Whitney....

@@axelito6342 the human voice is an incredible, durable thing. It usually bounces back in incredible ways when the singer recuperates themselves. I think it wouldn't be impossible for Whitney to regain her preacher's wife voice, I always felt that was the best example of where her voice would be without her bad habits.

The notes she was belting in these songs were no joke! I truly believe had she stopped smoking and continued working with the vocal coach that she could have had 90% of her voice back in its entirety. And let’s be honest… Worst case scenario say she only got like 40% of her voice back (she had way more than that in this video) even with just 40% of the gift she had she would run circles around most of the “talented” singers that are on the radio today! Her voice was just beyond incredible and it hurts my heart greatly to know that she and her gift are no longer with us. There will NEVER be another singer like her. You don’t get an amazing tone, range, power, control and vocal quality all mixed together in one voice like Whitney had it’s a once in a lifetime type of thing! She had it all and then some. She was truly special and I wish so badly that I would have had the chance to meet her and to tell her just how much she meant to me! ❤️

This sounds AMAZING for 2009! You can definitely hear some of those 90's notes comin' out! I really think if she would have done occasional shows her voice would have stayed in good condition like this. That tour in 2010 never should have happened!

She did sound great here. I agree with some of the comments about the fact that she should have done fewer performances so that her voice was in good condition. The tour in 2010 put a lot of stress on her that I feel like she could not handle. I would rather watch clips from a few but good performances during the "I Look To You" era. When she was well rested and took care of herself her voice was in good condition as her performances at this event, on Oprah and at the AMA in 2009 were amazing. :)

Even when she lost her voice, she remained an icon on stage and everyone respected her. By the way, some of the shows 2009 you hear that voice came back to her and if she seriously took up her vocals and went on tour in 2010(apparently Clive would not let her rest at all), she would sing again as in the late nineties. I miss you, Whitney.

Wow, I didn't know she was sounding like this in 2009. That singing coach was right. It sounds like he DID get her voice back to at least 85%! She sounds close to early 90s Whitney. Damn, I wish she would have stayed on whatever path she was on here.

Sounds very close to the late 90's Whitney! If she would have just stopped the cigarette smoking I think she could have gotten her mid 90's voice back. I don't think she could have gotten her 80's voice back since since she had her noudlues taken out in 1995.

I just can't understand how she sounded better, and more like the real Whitney, here than on her I Look To You album and her tour. Her voice was not in perfect shape of course but this resembles Whitney in the late late 90's. She even looked different, much better than she usually did around this time.
Because it was b4 her congestive heart failure starting getting the best of her and also her Enphazema (I know I spelled that wrong😂).. She said it took her 3 years to make I Look To You. Also here, the 1st 2 songs she turned them into melodies, in stead of doing the whole songs.. When she went on her last tour, she started out great and had a lot of great performances but then she became really sick because of her heart disease and of course the media being the DEVIL it is only publicized her weak performances..I wish just Whitney could have beaten her addiction becuz she was on her way back to the top. #Die Hard Whitney Houston FanForever💗💗💗

She had so many defensive wounds on her body. The amount was just ridiculous. Who knows what happened before she did that last line of cocaine. Am I the only one who thinks she sounds better here than what she did from 2001-2003 and 2005-2008? There was still some really good performances in 2000 and 2004, but it so annoying how straight after her voice recovered throughout the years they always put her straight back on tour which destroyed it
She put on some weight and she looked healthy. The honest truth of the matter is all the touring in the 90s and 2000s, there was no way she would have been keep her voice as it had been, even without drugs and smoking. After she died, everyone was suddenly saying “She wanted to tour because she was broke”. It’s like, I doubt that she would be able to talk her management and team into doing something they didn’t feel was right or didn’t want to do.

Right however since her Father stole a huge portion of her money unfortunately she had to get back on the road. I so wish she would’ve linked back with Robin & she could’ve monitored her bookings so she didn’t burn herself out. She could’ve also helped her maintain her sobriety. She would’ve enjoyed that reunion that would’ve been healing for her. Bobby was gone she could’ve really mended her friendship.

actually Clive didn't want her to tour.. She chose that. He said he would not promote her nor record her again until she gave up cigarettes. he wasn't willing to risk losing money until she gave up smoking due to her declining vocals.
He gave a interview in 2009 and he said " I don't think Whitney will do one nighters She's Whitney Houston." But his tune changed after she died and he said that he didn't want her to tour. Honestly those shows were to much for her. She was not 20-30 anymore. I think if she would have done one show a month she would have been good. But the shows were back to back in 2010
J Junior She was 46 doing shows every night in 2010 which is her fault and the promoters fault. She had no business doing 5 shows a week. No one is blaming Clive I'm just stating what came out of his mouth. I think Whitney was clean from 2007-2009 but once she started being pressured to do things she relapsed. Whitney needed to be forced into rehab. 30 day treatments in my opinion does not work. She needed 12-24 months in rehab and that possibly could have worked. Your correct bobby is not the blame for Whitney's death but he certainly didn't help her either. Neither one of them should have been together in the first place seeing that they both had a serious problem with drugs and alcohol.
ASIA Jackson am I missing something. Clive himself said he didn't think it was a good idea for Whitney to tour during that time. His main concern was her smoking Cigs. He told her he would not promote nor invest anymore into her til she quit.

What Clive said about not wanting her to tour was a lie he did and he made record again she didn't want to be sued so she complied and she did a movie she 2 songs for the soundtrack of sparkle she was gonna do waiting to exhale 2 probably a soundtrack for that she was gonna be a judge on x factor and she was gonna shoot a commercial the day she died and she was Slauson gonna do an interview the day she died she only went to rehab to keep herself on track. Like she said an addiction is always an addiction and there will always be desires so when the checks started coming back in I'm sure it was tempting with all the stress she had so she went to rehab got out and looked wonderful and healthy hell! She looked healthy the week she died. They found cocain in her system yes she probably gonna start using again and then clean back up like a regular recovering addict who knows that drugs are around nearly every star in LA is an addict we as the public don't know but the other stars do katt williams even said it. She probably snorted some and went to take a bath and had a heart attack because remember she was already taking Xanax which isn't surprising because look at her life I wouldn't be surprised if she had pain I don't necessarily think she would've had arthritis but she probably had pain and she had other pain med school she took her blood pressure med she took her heart med and whatever she took for her emphysema and she was drinking champagne so all of that caused a heart attack ultimately and as we're told no one was around at the time so there's no telling how long she dead before anyone found her. It's not like she was cold because she was scolding hot water which caused skin slippage. She didn't deserve to die like that at all. No one does its really heart breaking

she could have came back to her old self. she needed a break, someone stay close to keep evil away, vocal train heavy, church, God, a loyal person that really loved her ( mom) , down size her team and get evil out ( Gary and Michael and pat)
She absolutely could have come back. According to the autopsy report her vocal chords were perfect. Her lungs were still in pretty good shape besides the emphysema which had not progressed that much. What hurt her was them damn Newport's she couldn't quit, the fact she tried to come back and do a tour booking multiple shows like she used to singing at every show. She strained her voice in the middle of her therapy. All she needed to do was change her diet to healthy foods, drink plenty of water and warm teas with honey not lemon and only sing during a vocal coaching. That along with her swimming to help expand her lungs would have brought that voice back full range. Her voice was like any other instrument that goes unused for a extended period of time. just as a violin would need tuning so did her voice, it was slowly returning. Whit needed her mom with her to let her know not only did GOD lay his hands on her but he took her instrument and held it in his hands until she decided to use it again then he gave it back a piece at a time only to remind her he gave her a gift and it needed to be handled with care. She needed to back to where she found her voice the church house just like u said.

You can tell she really missed performing on stage. Her comeback was going smoothly in 2009 and she was regaining her confidence until that tour. Who ever advised her to do the ILTY world tour is wicked. Ever since Pat started managing Whitney every decision that was made hurt Whitney's career. I wish Whitney never allowed her family into her business because they ruined everything she worked for and now she is dead and they are eating her money.

Whitney is the greatest singer of all time, or at least one of them. She sounds amazing here.
Touring is very demanding, and i don't think it helped that there was some really naive and stupid people (like this @natanoliveira ferreria whatever person) who bought tickets expecting her to come out on stage like it was Radio City Music Hall in 1993. ridiculous. There were a lot of these types in the Australian leg of her NBL tour.
She had a lot of struggles, and the vocal chords are a muscle. No matter how hard you try, with or without drugs and smoking, singing when you're about 50, you wont have sh*t on how you sounded in your 20s.
It doesn't matter how much care you take, none of us can keep on top aging. So anyone who buys a ticket expecting to hear her belt I will always love you, is just dam stupid & very thick. The adverts/new album were indicative that her voice had matured.

See, that's why I said, and continue to say that, she should have done one major concert, on TV instead of doing that tour oh, because the album had already gone Platinum, so she really didn't need to tour, that would have been such a good idea oh, and she would have nailed it.

but when she tours live thats when she makes most of her monies and Royalties remember the industry collects predominantly from record sales and tv performances plus when she tours live she enhances her popularity with the new generation population who are more interested in getting to know and see her much like how these current Celebs do with their fans going public and live viral doing performances remember the internet wasnt as prevalent back then as it is now i myself just finding all of these wonderful concerts she performed from the 80s to her more recent ones when she passed i much prefer her live performance cause she is so amazing beautiful and Enchanting
