Thank yo so much for this video. I remodeled a kitchen and my almost new garbage disposal was re-installed. I looked inside and I thought it was missing a cutting kife. After watching your video I realized nothing was missing, there are two rotatong parts who cut. I was going to find a replacement parts, but watched your video when you explain how it works and I am glad to know no need to fix anything. So helpful!!!
I accidentally grinded small glass rocks (from our aquarium). I followed your advice - needed to crank the allen wrench about 10 times and each between time I tried to clear out the small bits of glass in the teeth of the disposal. Then Voila! It works! Thank you! PS I adore how you pronounce 'disposal'. You say "dispose - all!"
Mine did not have the bottom wrench to turn so I could not figure it out. Thanks to you, I now understood the mechanic of a garbage disposal. Its working again.
Well made video, but man is that like the first model of garbage disposal ever made? What year was that thing manufactured. Does it even run on 120VAC!?
Shrimp peelings are another no-no. I've cleared many a drain in a vacation home that tenants have tried to put those thru the disposer. Its also better to feed the disposer little at a time rather than filling the chamber and grinding it all at once.
This is a very old video, but at least this comment is a bit recent. So I once pushed the fuse breaker button (reset button) in so hard that it sunk back in the unit, so there’s just a hole on where the button should be, it’s in there somewhere. Ps, I pushed it hard cause I was frustrated thinking it should work after pushing it before declogging it. Is there a way to open the bottom on the unit so I can restore the buttons position.
One easy trick he does not mention is filling it with ice cubes to get rid of a noisy piece of glass or little aquarium stone stuck under the plate. Also be sure to unplug it (or throw the circuit breaker) before stick anything down it!
Wish I would of watched you before, I attempted this. I asked brother-in-law how to repair he told me exactly what you said. The problem is when I turned the fly wheel with the hex wrench, it did move but locked , the reset button didn't pop out. Now the flywheel is really jammed. I can't move in any direction, even when I tapped with hammer. I can't imagine what is jamming it. Can't feel a thing (did turn off breaker) Any other ideas, before I call repair man.

With patience, even someone like me could figure out and remove the jam. Thank you!
