Thanks for posting this video! I am having to learn how to work with point clouds on the fly and watching this saved me a BOAT load of time. Very concise and to the point.
Hello Robert! Thanks for this video, I was doing the same thing just today with the SX-10, but I used subsampled point cloud and dxf format file, now I know that landxml is possible too. Thanks for your job!
Great videos, thank you for taking the time to produce them. Don't suppose you've created a video on how to ground truth UAV data in TBC. Or could point me in the directing of where I may find something.
Microdrone puts out an extensive report on the data in processing. Only way to truly ground truth in my opinion is check shots in the field. There are some great tools in TBC for this I will see what I can come up with.
Great step by step processing. One question. When you sample you used a 2 foot dimension. Is there a reason you don’t select random sampling? I was instructed to use the random option. To be honest I’m not sure why... It seems like your method makes nicer looking vertices. Could you articulate the difference? Thanks for all the videos...excellent resource.
Hi Robert, been a while. I recently got back into heavy construction surveying and staking. We are using the SCS 900 software which is completely new to me and doing UA-cam video searches help minimal at best. Any advice/help you can possibly give? -Kirby Reece
@@SurveyingWithRobert Small world lol. We use Sitech's West Texas office as my company headquarters are there. I was given that gentleman's number but haven't heard back from him. Hard guy to reach.
With point clouds it’s a 3D line. It has elevation because it was derived from 3D points. Everything in TBC is 3D almost impossible to draw a 2D line. Does that help?
@@SurveyingWithRobert I'm enjoying the videos. Civil 3d is a pig when working with large surfaces from my limited new dip into point clouds! Trying to work with a 250 acre site. :/

Hi Robert. This video helped me understand the pointcloud to surface process (even being one version ahead on TBC.) Thank you for providing this!
Awesome dude. So glad you got some benefit from it.
This is very helpful. Thanks Robert

Hi Robert. After creating contours from point cloud, can we use contours as 3D line to retriangulate? It can be good to make the terrain more simple.
I cannot seem to find the function Polygon Select in my version of TBC (5.32)?

as a surveyor you are trained to shoot a grid so you create better contours.

Have you tried Brian in Little Rock at Sitetech? He was talking about doing some videos. He’s good, that’s who I call when I have a question.

Kirby Reece he’s the man. Keep trying I know he is busy.
When you created a linestring for the breakline why did you choose a regular linestring and not breakline from the dropdown menu?

I have some photogrammetry drone data on a cleared site. I may build a video on it tomorrow.
CUANTO ES EL COSTO DEL CONTROLADOR PARA EL SX10?
SAUL EVER SULLA MAMANI the cost of the complete package is around 60 thousand US dollars. That’s Software and hardware.
@@SurveyingWithRobert y el TBC con nube de puntos cuanto me costaría?
SAUL EVER SULLA MAMANI that was included in that price. TBC is about $3500 US and the scanning module is about $2500 US.
