Cheers, Nick, yes, it's a special place, a tiny remnant of our once vast temperate rain forest. These Dartmoor streams are about as close to "wild" fishing that we can get to here in Devon. The fish may be small, but they can still surprise you if you fish light enough.
I'll say it again Chris, such beautiful streams that you're so lucky to have for you to fish, just stunning. Two old favourite patterns doing the business for you, great stuff, cheers.
Many thanks for watching. It's always a welcome surprise on these tiny streams when a hooked fish pulls back a bit. When they start taking line off the reel, then that is a bit rare. It certainly fought well above its size.
Hi Darren, the best I've had from that stream is an 11-inch fish, and just for a second, I thought I'd hooked something similar. Amazing how such a small fish can fight, I've had stocked 1lb rainbows come in easier!
Cheers, Richard, there are some bigger ones in this stream, but not easy to come by. I suppose if it was full of two pounders, it would also be full of anglers.
Another great video on your Dartmoor stream and it really is such a beautiful place, rivers here on their bones in mid wales and my chum has had one or two good trout with nymphing the deepest pools so still possible but just not my thing , you can't beat dry fly .
No doubt about it Mike the nymph is probably a better bet in those conditions, but I believe that you should fish the way you enjoy. Even if you know that other tactics would be more productive.
The waters still looking fab down there Chris👍Not long back from a few days trip over to the Welsh borders and the streams are drying up fast now and looking pretty gungy! Cracking fish to finish there too👌. Well done!
Just about hanging on Nick but the more lowland streams are a bit mucky. The advantage of Dartmoor streams is that they often stay fishable for longer in the summer.
Hope they can all hang on all round a bit longer hey, the seasons flown by for sure hasnt it .V interesting what you say there ref Dartmoor, I never knew that so really need to get down asap then !
Lovely bit of country! And the geezer with the rod looks pretty cool, too! 😂 I'll have get myself off to some of the Cumbrian streams when dog days officially end? 2 spates in one week, so that might be it?? Good luck Chris! 👍
The Wickham’s scores again Chris ! Well done, great video showing what your local streams can offer …all the best
Stunning Place, enjoyed it very much Chris.

Those old timers knew what they were doing. The old patterns were popular for a reason 👍

Thank you sir.

Fab video, Chris, that fly worked a treat - must tie some - and that pool at 6 mins was lovely 😍
As I've often said, Robert, the fish might be tiny, but the scenery is massive.

Some pull on that last fish. Cracking session cheers Chris

Autumn the best time of year for fishing.

🤣🤣 Hard work looking cool in chest waders and fishing hat, but that doesn't stop us trying Dave. I'll look forward to some films from Cumbria 👍
