What type of paint protection product do you prefer? Do you lean towards spray and rinse products like this one, or do you tend to go for a more traditional wax or sealant instead? Let me know in the comments! I've also done a comparison of Bilt Hamber Touch-Less with Auto Foam if you're new to the channel. Here's the link: ua-cam.com/video/8KRVWKwyxic/v-deo.html I’ve put some extra detail and info about dilutions etc., in the description if you’re looking for more information. Thanks for watching!
I prefer BH D S wax, I got nearly 6 months of very acceptable water behavior from a half prep, washed it today and is definitely in need of a top up, will probably use KC spray and rinse on the next one until it gets a bit warmer and I can be bothered to do another prep 👍. Love your videos BTW, keep it up Heather.
Really well put together video. Confession, I’m a Bilt Hamber fan-boi. I’ve been using Touch-Less & Autowash for about 6 months, brilliant cleaning and great value for money. I used Touch-On about 6 weeks ago, Touch-Less pre-wash, Autowash contact wash, then Touch-On through a cheap foam lance. Same dilution ratio as you, one sachet to 1 litre of water and used pretty much all of it on a Skoda Superb estate. Let it dwell for a couple of minutes and then rinsed. I was very surprised, and impressed, at how much sheeting and beading it gave. It’s now had 6 weeks of daily driver filth thrown at it, country roads and lanes. It still has some beading protection, but once I washed again, using the above method and products, it revived the protection a bit. I’ve put more Touch-On on and it’s now looking quite reasonable. It’s not in the same league as paste waxes, sealants, or SiO2 products, but it’s perfect for quick winter maintenance washes to top up the existing protection. I agree that it needs to be in a bottle and have clearer dilution ratios. I contacted Bilt Hamber and they said they are looking to make it available in bottle form later in 2022.
Thanks very much for watching :) yep I completely agree, the water behaviour of waxes/ sealants is definitely better but this type of product has a huge advantage when you consider how long it takes to apply. That's really interesting, I'd definitely like to see it in a bottle instead!
Great in depth video. Thank you. My Top Tip - I empty all 10 sachets into a clean old clear Ecover washing up liquid bottle with a nice flip top. It means I can dose it precisely in my foam cannon and make it go further and also see how much is left
When I first used this on my car it made it real glossy and water beaded nicely. After using it on other cars I didn't feel amazed with the results. Happy you made this video as I was wondering if I did it wrong. I'm also selling a VW High UP which I thought id throw in as your cleaning one 😂
An other brilliant video Heather! I personally love BH Touch-On. I have used that with a bucket wash method as well as from a foam gun. And I had exactly the same experience as you have shown in this video. From the bucket it doesn't work well, not really sudsy either.. so I wouldn't recommend that usage either. But from a foam cannon it acts and works great for my taste, and could get a reasonable protection with such a small amount of effort. I like the water behaviour, gloss level and durability compared to the very easy application it works a treat every time. Nice to see the durability, i am currently testing myself on my car and will see how that goes, but wouldn't expect more than I have seen here. Well done Heather, great stuff with very valuable information, as always.
Thanks very much Viktor! You're definitely right, the amount of effort required to apply this in a foam cannon is tiny compared to the results you get. Looking forward to hearing how you get on with it as well durability-wise!
After watching this video and bilt hamber touch on i’ve put one sashay to 1 L water through snow foam gun will. As I have a Ford transit custom on my partner has a Nissan Navara I still have product left over. I do leave it in the reservoir or empty it into a container as if I was spraying it onto the vehicles. Then I can put it into an ordinary hand sprayer to use as a touchup if necessary. But not found using it every four weeks, but it does build up more protection and lasts longer. I also experimented about three weeks ago after spring touch on on my run, then used double speed wax over that. I came up with a real nice shine yesterday washed vehicle down again. I did some more torch on and you can more or less have a shave/make up with a reflection on a metallic orange paint. Steve
Great review as always Heather. I love Bilt Hamber products and think the quality of products along with the value for most items is second to none. Touch On just seems a little too much like hard work for me with the sachets and like you said either putting it in a lance or sprayer. If they did an SIO2 type spray on product or something like Gyeon Wet Coat it would be much better!
No need to complicate things. One sachet of touch on to a litre of water in a foam cannon and just keep spraying till it’s all gone. Even after it’s run off. Go back over the same spot. Just keep going round the car then let the cannon wash it off once it’s empty. Perfection every time.
Lovely Jubbly video, you always give the product you use a fair trial and review Heather, the only problem I can see is that this product is competing against more established products now with big names behind them, and the lack of detailed instructions doesn't help, but you can get this with other brands to.
Cheers Paul! Yeah I get what you mean, especially with there being a bit of crossover between it being a ceramic-infused shampoo/ spray and rinse sealant I can see why some would prefer to go for another brand's product which just sticks to one application method and does it really well
ANOTHER FABULOUS VIDEO BY ONE AND ONLY HEATHER. DETAILED EXPLANATION LIKE ALWAYS. SALUTE TO YOUR HARDWORK.🙌👏👌. I USE WASH AND WAX CONTACT WASH. THANK YOU BEST WISHES.
Great video as ever, had similar experience. Quick wash of a hire car and was very impressed how well it worked. Not sure I would buy the product for my own car but very useful for some people
Excellent, thorough test Heather. Love the fact you give real world durability updates. I normally go for waxes and sealants, however due to time constraints I do also tend to occasionally use spray on rinse off product like Gyeon Wet Coat etc. For convenience, products such as the BH Touch On seem to be the way to go. Not sure about the sachets though. Think I'd prefer a traditional bottle!
Thanks Steve! I'm the same, I feel like the performance of a wax/ sealant tends to be a bit better but it's not always feasible to use them if time is short. I agree about the sachets, I'd much prefer it just to be in a bottle. I get that they add a bit of convenience because I don't need to measure anything out but they're a bit restricting because I always feel like I need to use the whole sachet!
@Auto Care HQ Using Gyeon Bathe+ (bottle) in the same way with much better results than touch on. I really do like the low effort and decent protection through a foam lance. Most of Bilt Hamber products are really good no nonsense products, but Touch On isn't really doing anything particularly great.
Thank you for taking the time and effort to produce this video. Whilst Bilt Hamber products are normally excellent and cost effective, I don't think this product is particularly good value for money. Showing my age but I remember Turtle Wax hot wax of the 90s which was very effective in cleaning and left a fairly decent short term water behaviour on the panel. Dread to think of the chemicals used in that Turtle Wax product though. Personally I prefer waxes or sealants than spray and rinse products but both have their place.
Thanks for watching Karl :) That's very true, most of their products are very economical but this one does have a much higher cost per use compared to something like Double Speed for example
Great vid. Do you reckon Touch On is at its optimum if used with Touch Less? At the moment I have Surfex HD with Koch Chemie GSF over the top as prewash then GSF as contact wash. Would Touch On via foamlance after that give good results or am I better with just Touch Less as prewash, GSF for contact wash and then Touch On?
To be honest my Wilko wash and wax is a pleasure to use, it glides on the paintwork and has a nice smell to it and leaves a decent wax finish. Of course, I love BH products too, I think best on the market
Enjoyed this honest review, thank you. Given how easy and effective products like Gyeon wet coat are to use I'm not sure what this BH product really offers. I'm a big fan of most BH products and rate their decent performance and good value but this product seems unexceptional. Thanks again for saying what you really think.
Thanks very much for watching :) I get what you mean, I think this product has a place when time is short but I prefer the performance of other products for my own car
Cheers Adrian :) it's not my favourite BH product either tbf, not something I'd really use on my own car but it's handy to have for friend's/ family's cars
Thorough review as always👍 There hasn’t been much about Touch On since it’s launch. Unusually for a Bilt Hamber product, it’s not a market leader which probably explains why it’s hardly mentioned these days. Problem is there’s products like Sam’s Ceramic Foam which works really well and I know you’re a fan of.
I think the best way to calculate the dilution (other than in the wash bucket) is what you'd normally use per car, on the assumption that the rate is 1 sachet per car. I prefer the spray method as I don't like product on my windows.
I use this for my van as it's rather big so to go around it with wax would take too long ! I use it with touchless , both from a foam gun and am really happy with the results. My car tho I use wax as it gets a bit more love than my white van and the car being red really pops with a gd wax , I also use ag aqua wax as a drying aid for the car and for me it's spot on 👌
I quite like this as a quick and easy top Up. I tend to mix it up into one litre and apply via my snow foam lance. That will do 2 cars for me and will keep for a month, once mixed, which coincidentally is around how long it lasts on the panel.
I noticed that the slickness and suds of the shampoo can change by changing the mitt even changing water temperature if you use warmer water sometimes it will make the shampoo perform better.
Seems a reasonable product to try, although if I was going to go for spray and rinse either Infinity Wax express sealant or Turtle wax hybrid dry and shine. I spent yesterday using infinity wax winter wax and every 3 months or so I tend to go with traditional wax or sealant, however if time is against me or hydrophobics are starting to die, I will use a spray and rinse as an interim.
IW Express Sealant is definitely on my list of spray and rinse sealants to try when I get a bit lower on stock! They're definitely a must-have products for top ups and are very useful at this time of year
I've just ordered the touchless and touch on but I want to use a product like autoglym super resin to help get rid of hedge marks (as I see a horse lorry in your videos I can imagine you know where I'm coming from). Do you think using the super resin would harm the effectiveness of the touch on? Also any suggestions that might be a better option to the obvious super resin?
Hey Heather Great video as always 👍 Not tried the latest BH products. As for protection I’m currently using GT Sigma which seems to give awesome gloss with easy application. Just purchased some Bead Juice to try too. Have you used it before ? Heard mixed reviews 🤷♂️
Thank you! Great call, Sigma is brill. I really like Bead Juice, another really easy one to use. I use it on my alloys mainly but I've also used it on quite a few other cars and by the time I came to wash them 2-3 months later they were still showing some water behaviour which is all I can ask for really when they weren't prepped or washed in between!
I don't know who is in the BH product marketing or development team, but those instructions SCREAM out to me...they've been written by the same person who has written the spec sheet. This means you end up with instructions that are ambiguous and assumptive in their wording. I've been using Magiseal for 18 months now, and you can cover any car with 400ml total mix. Also, I tried SquidInks version this weekend and although more watery, it went on well. All these products seem to be rinsed off within 30 secs of application and not dwell dependent at all. For me BH need to reappraise their foams offering as it's out of step with the marketplace.... the rest is spot on though. Your bucket shot reminded me of a typical ceramic shampoo..ie suds which go AWOL within minutes.
The instructions did surprise me a bit to be fair. BH are more specific compared to most other brands when it comes to their snow foams by using PIR rather than dilution ratios, so it surprised me that these instructions were much more vague. The Squid Ink one has very nice water behaviour and I was really interested to see how durable it was but the test hasn't gone quite to plan. The car had a knackered gear box and was sent back to Vauxhall because it's still under warranty so the owners are getting a new car! Hopefully I should get another chance to try it again soon though and see how long it lasts
@Auto Care HQ put it on the wife's Kadjar yesterday after a good wash using their HD pure shampoo... looked good this morning in the wet Lancashire skies so the test is on
Great job heather lovely weekend just spent my sunday afternoon given the cars a shine up. going to be purchasing some GT products shortly threw your recommendation. do you have a promotion link available?
Thank you! It's definitely been better weather for it this weekend! I've not got any codes for them I'm afraid although I think diamondcutcarcare.co.uk are doing some promotions at the moment that may be worth checking out :)
Just watching this I was struck how similar this product is, in terms of water behaviour and not being particularly foamy, to Turtle Wax Hybrid Ceramic Wash and Wax which I bought recently to try out. As a wash and wax product, it's, by some distance, the most effective I've tried. Is this the future for the time poor weekend warrior? Great review as always.
Cheers Peter! That sounds really good I'll keep an eye out for that one. These kinds of products are definitely a good option where time is stretched. I managed to wash and protect Sam's Detailing Ceramic Foam to 3 cars in 1.5 hours a few months ago which would definitely not be possible if I was waxing them all 😂
One of my cars I have GT CS on it the other car has GT Sigma and the other car was bought in the winter so I have not had a chance to do a full detail on it so I have been putting Autobrite Ceramic Shield products on it ( Magiseal, Ceramic shampoo and ceramic spray wax ) for ease of application. I think for longevity GT is the winner but I do like the glass like finish on the black Jaguar from the Autobrite products. I used to be a wax user but I have been converted but I recently bought Autobrite Ceramic wax but not had a chance to use it yet.
GT CS and Sigma are a great combo, I used that on my car last year and it did really well. I definitely appreciate these kind of products though when it's winter as they're so fast to use
I think I'd give that product a go. I currently use turtle wax spray on pressure wash off. I forget it's actual name. It can streak sometimes though I found though.
It's definitely worth a try, I think you can even get the sachets individually for pretty cheap as well just to give it a go. I was half expecting this to end up with spotting issues when I used it in the pump sprayer so it pleasantly surprised me! I guess with it being intended for use in the bucket as well it's possibly more forgiving than a strictly spray and rinse type product
This reminds me quite a bit of Polar Seal from Autoglym. A similar type of application method, pop 30/40ml into a lance and top up with a couple hundred ml of water and spray over the car. Avoid the windscreen if you can help it though.
I need to give Polar Seal a try at some point! I'd like to try a few more of these spray and rinse products and then I can maybe pick my favourites for a comparison video
@@AutoCareHQ It's not bad and decent enough to chuck into a lance and lob over a car. Even lasts around the same time, 3/4 weeks. Road grime slips off well enough apparently. In the winter, that's what you want. Smells good as well. I'm tempted to try it out in a spray bottle and try spread it evenly over car panels, to see if that increases the durability and effectiveness of such a product. Use one MF to spread and one clean one to buff off. This technique works really well with TW hybrid sealant, seal and shine. The best-known spray and rinse products are Gyeon Wetcoat, BSD, Bead juice and the TW range, mainly because they so damn cheap and relatively easy to use. John even has a few videos on how to avoid streaks etc on Forensic Detailing.
Hi heather I hope you are well always I use ph neutral shampoo look like zymol clear or zymol quadra sealant once a year follow zymol wax if the paint is clean.
Great informative content as always - thanks. Doing the hard work testing these products to see if they’re a good fit for our preferences without us having to spend a penny! I’m a BH Double Speed fan for when the weather is right, but over winter for my fortnightly wash it has to be finished with Koch Chemie Protector Wax. Hardly any product required in the snow foam lance. Great water behaviour and nice gloss. Keep these videos coming. Thanks!
Thanks very much Michael! Double Speed is really good but it's definitely not been the best weather for applying it recently! I'll have to try some more Koch Chemie products. I've only used Green Star and FSE and they're both brill
All ceramic based or sio2 based car shampoos do lose the suds within minutes and that’s is normal , no one has come up with one where the suds don’t disappear
Interesting results after Suds being applied on the bonnet , Touch Less brought some of the protection back then it was performing worse after Suds, don’t forget you can use Touch On as a QD as well with 1% dilution in a sprayer You seemed confused about the dilution in a pump sprayer , just remember it gives a 30ml to 10L dilution ratio for contact wash so it would be 3ml to 1L in the pump sprayer
That's an interesting idea using it as a QD or even as a drying aid maybe. I considered using the pump sprayer to match the foam cannon (0.3% PIR) but figured it'd be interesting to see how it looked when over-concentrated plus the sachets make it a bit of a pain to apply it otherwise. I thought it was interesting that there was a big difference in water behaviour when I used it in the bucket at 0.2% PIR here (30 mL into 15 L) and in the lance at 0.3% PIR, but then there was no difference when used at 3% in the pump sprayer compared to the lance. I can't imagine it being miles better at 0.3% in a bucket but it'd be cool to try, although I think the foam cannon method will still be my favourite way of using it!

Not tried the latest BH products.
@@AutoCareHQ cheers Heather will have a browse through. lookimg forward to some more content hopfully through the better months 😊
Mystic Bubbles shampoo is one of the best shampoos out there along with the garage therapy decon shampoo for more powerful shampoo
That sounds like a great system!
It's 300ml water to 1 sachet in the foam cannon.
Glad they’ve added some better instructions now
Some quick maths gives the PIR. 30ml in a 15L bucket = 0.2%
Interesting results after Suds being applied on the bonnet , Touch Less brought some of the protection back then it was performing worse after Suds, don’t forget you can use Touch On as a QD as well with 1% dilution in a sprayer
You seemed confused about the dilution in a pump sprayer , just remember it gives a 30ml to 10L dilution ratio for contact wash so it would be 3ml to 1L in the pump sprayer
@@AutoCareHQ yeah bucket method is crap, much better results doing it ANY other way 😅
You should reapply each month
