It's not the only phone from 2012, the Nokia Lumia 920 came out 11 days earlier and was the first photo to support Qi wireless charging. It's also the first phone with optical image stabilization (OIS)
JM TechReview but we are losing some cool things phones used to have. That sick LED notification light, that comfy rounded shape, most comfortable multitasking menu is dropped as wel
Sinan Aydın pay attention where that led used to be located. And how is used to work. Pay attention on rounded shape of this phone, LG Nexus, Moto X - they are the same style Google invented back then.
I've had my nexus 4 for like 3/4 years now and works as good as it did on the day I got it except that it heats up really really quickly (much quicker than it used to) from just talking over messenger and listening to music. It is almost perfect, it's my favourite phone I ever had and the only reason why I want to upgrade is because snapchat doesn't work well with it but then I don't know if that is the phone or the OS and the camera is a bit shit.
I hate when people say back in 2012 what ever phone they have they say this phone sucks. Now few years later. I miss this phone it was a great phone I should of never upgrade. like really.
Actually, it does. It has HSPA+ which is a 4G network. What it lacks is LTE bands, and it even has those that people were able to enable (the few very advanced members of XDA).
I digged my old nexus 4 out. Unlocked Bootloader in couple seconds, Custom recovery, Lineage OS. My N4 runs 7.1.2 now and it handles it like a champ. I dont see why i Upgraded now 2 phones this runs super Smooth battery is fine. The only things i miss the new phones charge really fast (you have to charge a nexus 4 over the night) and the speaker is horrible. Display is sharp, looks sexy and the led notification just looks amazing. You can get this unlocked for 100 bucks get it for 2017
Had to go back to my Nexus 4 recently after breaking my Nexus 6P, and I must say I am amazed at how buttery this thing still is. I have gigantic hands though so it looks and feels a bit strange when I hold it.
Here's my 2021 comment. lets see if it gets noticed. keep up the great work on the channel man. been watching you since the nexus 4 days and have been enjoying all of the content you put out. keep it up! I can't wait to see the good stuff you have planned for this year and the years going forward!
The Nexus 4 is my first smartphone and i like the overall features;but i'm having some issues in accessing my voicemail as well as the mike for accessing items.
This was my second ever smartphone. It’ll forever hold a special place in my heart for being a huge upgrade over my first ever smartphone, the Galaxy S2.
Zahid Amin Umm yeah, I have the Nexus 4. And yeah trust me. The CPU and GPU on the iPhone 6 wrecks the Nexus 4's not to mention the camera and battery... You are looking at just numbers and for that you are moron.
Fire have you seen the CPU and the 1 gig of RAM. Even 2 years later, a snapdragon 400 has higher clock speeds than an A8. And maybe the battery life is bad due to the processing android requires unlike iOS. And not to mention both have an 8mp camera, even 2 years later THEY STILL don't make a higher res camera for the price. Over $700 vs 249
I bought this phone Christmas 2012 and I remember my friend bought an S3 at the same time. We used to argue about which one was better. I'm still using my Nexus 4 to this day, it has no lag at all and my friend has owned 2 more phones since. However as I approach the 3 year mark and the new Nexus phones have been announced I think it's about time I give myself an upgrade (thinking of the 5X). Nexus 4 - probably the best phone I've ever owned.
I'm only one missing these great design on smartphones? Right now all brands drop the same phone with another model name. I miss you HTC one X, Nexus 6, Nexus 6P ...
I have had the nexus 4 for about 3 months now and it is amazing. I don't drop my phone or anything but I really recommend a case. The performance is amazing and for $350 in Toronto on LTE, I am very happy. Great phone
I've noticed that I keep watching kbhds' videos over and over again even if i've already watched them just because the way he presents himself in these videos just really grabs your attention. I still haven't found a video from him that I don't like THANK YOU MARQUES
I regret not taking up this phone when I had my upgrade a few years ago, glad I jumped onto the nexus lineup with the 5 though. I love it, the pure android experience just sold it for me, as well as the affordability😏👍
I've never had this phone but I remember it so well, it was like the pinnacle of greatness for Nexus devices in general both for package and price. I'm gonna miss Nexus devices, I still have 2013 version of Nexus 7 that I use from time to time.
Oh man I love your commentary you earned yourself a subscriber! Oh man I can't wait for my new refurbished lg nexus 4 to be delivered, you gave an excellent reivew
The fact that we have a brother reviewing this amazing phone getting almost half-million views and I have yet to come across any negative/racist comments puts on smile on my face. Keep doing your thing fam

If you are running a computer that has bluetooth like many laptops do, you can transfer using it to your device. You can email yourself the files and download them on to your phone.
The most beautiful Nexus phone ever made. EVER. BUT the speaker was anaemic at best, the battery life was abysmal, and call quality (earpieace) was just.... ugh.
I have a Nexus 4 device. The Camera is not a game changer. And yes the camera also does not produce the best images. But, for day to day use and taking into account that it is just a Cellphone camera, it is more than sufficient. 8 MP back camera produces good quality pictures. Also the 4.3 Jellybean upgrade makes the picture rendition better! So if you want to buy a Nexus 4, go for it. Or wait for a few more months and you will have a Nexus 5 coming out soon enough! :)
I think everybody forgets just how bad the battery life was on this phone. It has an endurance rating of 32 hours Vs current phones which range from 70-150 hours (most phones in the 60-80 hour range these days are slammed for bad battery life)
Not really. Galaxy S3's screen is a PenTile AMOLED display, it's a fake 720p resolution. The color it produces is completely inaccurate and oversaturated by 39% from sRGB standard. The processor is based on ARM Cortex-A9 architecture which is ancient compared to Krait on the S4 Pro. Not to mention thin polycarbonate plastic on the S3.
Still Watching in 2017.. This spec were so awesome back then, but phone always upgrade from hardware to software, but one thing that like before till today from elderly phone is the SIZE,it so easy to hold in one hands, there not much choices for flagship model in 5.0 inch nowdays, really miss them, even today,i'm carying a 6.0inch phone..
This was/is my first smartphone, I bought it from someone else 3~4 years ago, and it impressed me a lot. The phone is amazing, the glass in the back is really beautiful, and still today it beats other smartphones. I already changed the screen 2 times because i cracked it, but it still works perfectly. The only thing is that he is becoming obsolete very fast in the last year. I'm thinking in buying an nexus 5x, because i dont have money for the pixel, besides, i didn't liked the design of the pixels. Nexus was a great line of smartphones. Google rocks!
You doing ok these days.? If owning a great phone is still an issue, I will help you get a flagship. I don't have alot of money. But I would rather help you than have it. It's awesome to have a phone that has everything. OnePlus 11 right now. For me is the perfect phone. I still have my 9 5g. Using it now. Just love em. You should know that feeling bro. Let me know. No joke. No strings attached. I literally just want to make sure you own a gteay phone. It feels incredible. Just that simple. God I know that may sound crazy. But it just isn't. It is what it is. I would rather help you than have a 20$ in my pocket each week.
@@drumsalot76 Well this aged really well haha. My dear old pixel dont turn on anymore, but it had served me well. Things turned out great for me. Always was a big tech nerd, and now currently I am a Software engineer and can now aquire all the tech goodies. From the nexus line, the oneplus brand caught my eyes, and went from nexus 4, nexus 5x, and then oneplus 5t, 8 pro and now 10 pro (and the most recently oneplus buds 2 pro too). Crazy how things turned out great from a kid that barely got a decent phone hahaha. Currently hoping that oneplus does a good homework with the 12 pro now, didnt like the round camera bump from the 11.
I just love it. In person. It really looks fantastic. It can be a grow on you type thing. Glad all is well. I'm broke as a mental health patient. But I seriously would have helped you get a flagship. It's special as you now know.. I can't afford school and it hurts being what you are. A tech nerd. I am too and always have been. To hear that 5 years changed your life hurts my soul , because I just want the same. To be able. That's all. To just be able. Some just get to observe while others get to be observed. Try downgrading to Android KitKat or installing a custom ROM for a newer Android version (don't use Android 9 Pie though, Pie and Lollipop are the worst versions of Android).
look at you buddy....i started following u..recently but look at this!! ma nigga...u look so changed back then....good work pal...keep the reviews going ...damn helpful
Great review! for me watching video reviews helps me decide if should i buy a certain phone or not. its really helpful that's why I give all reviewers two thumbs up!
it really depends on what your looking for if you like the amoled instead of the ips and removable battery and sd cards and you can afford the extra money, and you dont mind losing the stock android updates from google, and slightly better cpu. and its also important how you like the feel of the phone in your hand.
Mine has been in use for about 4.5 years and still works great. I love it, but don't love the camera (not that I ever use the camera lol). I'm thinking of passing it down to a brother-in-law of mine and getting myself a Sony Z3...
Hi Marques, Definitely your channel is one of the best in my collection. Especially the quality of the shots and the editing that goes in each of your reviews are superb! What camera do you use for capturing all your reviews? is it a cell phone camera or a full fledged one!? Question about Nexus 4's camera: I see most review not going in favour of the camera, I would like to know - is this to do with the lens or the chipset or is this only a software issue which can be fixed by a tweak?
After positive experiences with the Galaxy Nexus (the first smartphone I ever used) I really got hyped when this phone was coming out. I still miss the days of the holo interface, I thought it looked really cool.
I still using my old nexus 4 with android oreo custom rom, just this year the touch screen began to stop working in some points, the battery life is about 3 hours or less, but I'm thinking to repair it and given more life was a great device
Man I loved this phone so much. The subtle sloped edges and glittery glitch back were just superb. Performed well except for deactivated LTE radio, wish they could've built on this design instead of the boring Nexus 5.
6:03 it’s kind of funny how the standard for good battery life have changed. 4hrs Sot was considered crazy good and the pixel 4 with its 4-5 hrs sot is considered not acceptable now.
great review my friend..there was hardly anything u missed over there..just point to point watever was necessary to know about it and really thanks for pointing out the constraints for 4G LTE..good one !
Whoever designed/built this phone should win the Nobel price for...phones. This phone makes my life so much better. You touch something and it responds in a nano second. The GS3 is among the best but the lag is unbearable for me. This phone so smooth that I cant imagine using any other phone right now.
What have you been smoking? US GS3 has dual-core Snapdragon S4 running at 1.5 GHz, while the international version has quad-core Exynos 4412 running at 1.4 GHz.
Been 10 years. Wow. I really loved my Nexus 4. Felt nostalgic coming here to see it again. Glad I remembered this phone.
same !! i bought it because of this video!!
Crazy how modern this phone looks compared to others back then. It looks like you could buy it today
Yeah me too. I came for the nostalgia 😂 Interestingly what phones did you go for after Nexus 4? I went for Moto G4, Pixel 3, Pixel 7 and now Pixel 9.
haha I still have mine, the screen is broken sadly, but hey it still exists lmao
An old device but still the only device from 2012 that supports wireless charging! Proud of owning it!😉
mo101epic Its going good! But I've already moved to S7 edge!😏
Does it?

Alan Way ikr, it would so cool if the style of this nexus 4 goes finally on trending in all the ecosystem of budget phones
This phone actually has the same size screen and almost the same resolution as an iPhone 8.

Great review! for me watching video reviews helps me decide if should i buy a certain phone or not. its really helpful that's why I give all reviewers two thumbs up!
it really depends on what your looking for
if you like the amoled instead of the ips and removable battery and sd cards and you can afford the extra money, and you dont mind losing the stock android updates from google, and slightly better cpu. and its also important how you like the feel of the phone in your hand.
Mine has been in use for about 4.5 years and still works great. I love it, but don't love the camera (not that I ever use the camera lol). I'm thinking of passing it down to a brother-in-law of mine and getting myself a Sony Z3...
I miss this phone - and the pricing - awesome strategy to get people onto "what should a stock android phone look and work like?"! Happy days!!
I still use this phone
should i buy iPhone 4s or nexus 4 ?
One of the most beautiful smartphone ever, especially with this awesome back.
Watching this in 2023, wow. I loved this phone!!
I love watching your reviews!! You give really honest review!!
the best review !
But i don't know which one to choose :(
the moto g or s3 or nexus 4 ...
go for moto X or S4 if possible!!
Nexuw 5
Nexus* 5
nexus 4
Blazer Draco Qhy Nexus 4 when the Nexus 5 is out?!
I still have a Nexus 4. Although it's a bit laggy and the battery life is marginal, it still runs all the apps and works decently.
Custom rom it dood i did so with my Nexus 6 actually commenting on it rn on Android 11 and my Nexus 4 is coming I'm gonna custom rom it too
6:03 it’s kind of funny how the standard for good battery life have changed.
Bro..im watching u in 2023..nice job review for u
Whoever designed/built this phone should win the Nobel price for...phones. This phone makes my life so much better. You touch something and it responds in a nano second. The GS3 is among the best but the lag is unbearable for me. This phone so smooth that I cant imagine using any other phone right now.
Yo, great review and covered everything I wanted to know and then some. Thanks for putting it all together and with superb quality.
Still have this phone. Love it. The only problem is the battery life, it sucks, period.
engjoaocivil just like most smartphones sadly, the battery sucks
+Th33Vultur3 well it's 2015 now bro haha
im sad i just broke it from slipping and i had no screen saver on. it works but i cant use it
This was my favorite phone of all time I think...just loved it! Right along with the old Blackberry 9900... haha
This review was "bhaus". I just subscribed. Keep up the good work dude. Thanks!
What have you been smoking? US GS3 has dual-core Snapdragon S4 running at 1.5 GHz, while the international version has quad-core Exynos 4412 running at 1.4 GHz.
