I played this in 8th grade. I still remember the audience standing and yelling "Bravo!!!". We had an amazing director. Now I'm playing it 50 years later in a community concert band. It brings back great memories.
@@Kat-xc8sb we had an amazing band director. If you Couldn’t hack it, You played it for a grade. Also this was the wind ensemble Of the middle school so we We’re the better Players.
I remember playing this every year as one of the "what do the seniors want to play" pieces in high school, and it continues to impress. How MASSIVELY enjoyable!
2:37 is so breathtaking and so surreal to experience live. The percussion section doesn’t play during that part of the song so I get to just take it all in
We played this and Incantation and Dance in high school. I played flute and I don’t think we (the flute section) had a decent run through one time with Incantation and then the concert came and oh the dread. We nailed it on the night. Somehow! I have both pieces on my phone.
I played this in 7th grade as it was my band directors last year at our school so he wanted to play a master piece, it was a very good song, hard to learn but fun at the end
@shilohclark3577 It was I vividly remember the trumpets constantly being reminded about the part (transition for variation one to two) (also nice, it's fun seeing more people play this piece)
As a clarinetist, this is one of my favorite pieces that I've never gotten to perform, not in many years of high school, college, and community band. One day! But probably not quite this fast.
We played this in my senior honor band and I got to play the oboe solo. Never been so nervous, ha! I love this song and think about it a lot. Thankful for good recordings like this to bring back good memories. The ending of this song gets me everytime.
Bravo!!! Tight performance!! Great clarinet section, trumpets, too. This piece is notorious for intonation problems, but everyone did a really good job matching pitch. What a great ensemble!!
I just played that piece at my college's concert band performance last night! The 2nd, 4th, and 6th movements (Vivace, Allegro con brio, Con Islancio) were my favorites because they were fast and lively, and they were where the percussion section shone the most.
At long last I found a recording of this song! This was one of my favorites to perform in high school band but I couldn’t remember the name. Thank you for allowing me to enjoy this piece again.
As a tenor, I LOVE THIS PIECE!!! WE’RE PLAYING IT AT UIL AND WE GOT INVITED TO PLAY IN INDIANA IN FRONT OF LIKE 2k PEOPLE SO WE’RE PLAYING THIS, CORCORAN, DANCES OF INNOCENCE, BYZANTINE, INTO THE CLOUDS AND 2 MOREEE
They came to my school in Brainerd at the Gichi ziibii Center for the Arts to perform with the singing Sergeants and it was The most spectacular concert i've ever heard!! the Tone quality and sound engineering was out of this world!! it was like i was in a movie because it was so Fantastic!!!
Thanks for this upload. This is my favourite piece for bringing the best performance out of a wind orchestra. Having first heard this played by a junior wind orchestra of Newham (east London, UK) at the Royal Albert Hall in April 1984, it still brings immense joy, with all the different moods conveyed through the piece, and of Korea too. 2:37 - 4:17 is a rapture in itself ❤ Then there is the stellar ending from 5:14 ⭐ I don't think this piece gets the recognition it deserves, and whether it's performed by a junior wind orchestra, or a military band, it always uplifts the senses 🎼👏🏾
Without the God and the USA South Korea is not. Thank you so much for your help and high loves until these days. God bless USA. Thanks for beautiful music. South Korea. 💞🎄
The 7th ID has a really good version of the song..it was given to them by the president of Korea for their actions in the chosin reservoir and is there official unit song
I did this song in Grade 13 because it was the Kiwanis competition song (that might just be a Canadian thing, not sure). The issue was, we did not have a single oboe player in the school. 3 of us knuckled down to learn the oboe. There is a reason it is classed as one of the most difficult instruments to play! (One guy managed to get really good at it shortly before the competition thank goodness. Not me. Give me a French Horn any day thanks.)
I'm a high school percussionist. We're playing this piece quite a bit slower than the intended tempo in order to not sound like a disorganized ball of noise, and I'm still trying to wrap my head around the snare part in the middle. It doesn't help that I suck at concert rolls.
@@mjc3813 Our sound technicians said it helps to provide a more accurate feed of the sound in the room (or something like that). Here's what the maker says about the head-shaped microphone on their website: The KU 100 Dummy Head is a replica of the human head with a microphone built into each ear. When the recorded audio signal is reproduced through high-quality headphones, the listener perceives a sound image almost identical to the one they would have heard at the recording location of the Dummy Head (head-related stereophony). When played back through loudspeakers, the sound matches to a high degree that of conventional stereo microphones, placed in the same position. However, a superior quality is added, that of a distinct spatial depth perception.

The trumpet solo is absolutely beautiful.
I played the solo in my high school band. I also had to play the French horn solo because we didn't have one, and yes the solo is beautiful.
OH YEA
As a Korean, this song is very great!❤
I switched to horn my freshman year but not before playing this masterpiece on clarinet. I gives me chills to listen to it again

Those 16th note runs though I mean I’ve got it easy with the trumpet part but I feel bad for the woodwinds
We had a concert with 3 middle schools and a high school. One of the middle schools played this and wow, they did so good
Was the concert by any chance in Midland because I remember one of the Middle Schools playing the song.

Definitely very late but fr though, I could listen to this part forever and not get tired of it, definitely my favorite part when my class played it
I still remember getting to play the horn duet with the flute around 3:30
That used to be my least fav part but as a grown up, I really love it. It’s beautiful
I dont know if the USAF band takes requests, but if you do, Incantation and Dance is another beautiful, and exotic arrangement by John Barnes Chance
incantation and dance is my favorite!!! we played it one year in band as a halloween piece and it was sooo much fun

i played this in middle school in a big auditorium as part of the clarinets and someone messed up the second note lol
Even as a clarinet player, respect to the percussionist at the Vevace. That dude got mad skill

One of my all time favorite band pieces. A beautiful rendition!
Playing the mallets on this and the xylophone pentatonic run near the beginning is so fun to play

How do you have time to do the Air Forcy stuff when you're this good?
Because this is their Air Force-y stuff, the people in military bands do this for their service

Ver well played, but the tempos throughout are all far too slow. Check the metronome marks. It would generate a little more excitement.
