Throughout this entire season of episodes [since the very first choir performance w/Simon], Wilhelm has been nothing less than obsessed [in a good way, but noticeable for sure] with Simon. Wilhelm was clearly [thinking] that he was/is going to "conquer" Simon .... and does it --- and we're all glad he did. I have a prediction in Season 2 (I have no idea whether this is true or not) that Prince Wilhelm will do something of "escaping" some royal function and somehow ("borrows" a car?) finds a way to see Simon at ether the school or at Simon's house [and maybe the Royal Court has a "manhunt" out to find the "lost" Prince?].

Even after the school's memoir for him, he only did what was 'necessary' to keep the politics out of their relationship. _But, I have one burning question:_ Since Wilhelm deleted Simon as a contact, how did he know Simon's number to call while on the football field? Wilhelm doesn't come across as a super-smartie --- enough to even memorize Simon's [ _and _*_ONLY_*_ Simon's_ ] phone number. :-) [And, conversely, why didn't Simon immediately know who was whispering to him on that call?] _Did the Prince [know enough to] use a burner phone?_ :-)

Allow just me to say that, by and large and as matter of fact, Wilhelm *did* try to keep Simon at arm's length (Simon did not know what Wilhelm was thinking) a couple of times. But, as you note, Wilhelm was deep down just tricking himself. As for the number, remembered by Wilhelm in very "high" conditions: Simon's number might still reside into the ingoing/outgoing call list (that one is not shown deleted). And a Swedish person in these comments once said that it's relatively easy to find out a mobile number in his/her Country. Not being Swedish, I pass. Still, we can allow us to dream, and think that Wilhelm remembered that special number like his first name even in bad conditions he was in. BTW, if Wilhelm cannot really forget Simon even when he's sick and high, it's another reason to think that in Season 2 he won't get over him and will try to make up with him.
I've watched most of these scenes quite a few times, yet there's something new included into this nice and magnificent editing job, being the song Back To You by Selena Gomez, to give us a nice beat along the way through the seduction of a prince by Simon. Good Choice!

I think that they add (make) to the realism of the story. You don't have super-beautiful boys here, but normal teen-agers that heartfeltly and sincerely smile to each other.
