  • There are some very bad videos telling people how to clean a motorcycle. My own system is based on that of car detailers who avoid a contact wash until most of the dirt has been removed. I haven't shampoo'd the bike in this video and you will that there is no need. The previous steps have removed the dirt. There are some excellent cleaning products out there eg S100 that I haven't mentioned as it is quite expensive and I find the method I use gets the results for a loss less cash.
List of products used and some I haven't.
Valet pro citrus pre wash although any will do.
Rhino Goo fast action cleaner £13 for five litres but it is then diluted.
Bilt Hamber snow foam, much cheaper than autoglym who spend all their money on marketing.
IK sprayer and IK snow foam sprayer
    Autoglym snow foam canon.
    Autobrite engine protectant
Bilt Hamber Dynax S50 wax spray (like waxoyl but easy to apply)
    Oxford Mint Silicone Detailer
S100 moto wash, I didnt use it on the video as it is expensive £16 for 750ml but its really good and I use it for when I am doing a deep clean.
Autoglym all purpose cleaner, not used in video but a great all round product, I tend to use it on tyre walls.
Detailing brushes, micro fibre cloths, and a large micro fibre drying towel.

i like to use ez insta gloss after the snow foam and shampoo contact wash stage makes drying even easier and leaves a nice gloss finish too 😀

I’ve got the black stone as well, and so far I’ve just been simply hosing it off. Not any more 👍🏻. Quick question, what are the auxiliary lights you are using? Are you going to do a video on them?

cheap and effective lights from Temu cost £24 for the pair and yes I am going to do a video on them. I used a £5 relay and Moto Guzzi kindly provide a switched live under the seat ready for a sat nav in a super seal socket. I used this to switch on the relay from the handlebars.

Great stuff. I look forward to the video. Never used Temu or the like. Perhaps I’ll start.

Some of it is fine others crap. You take a punt but for the silly prices it’s worth it sometimes

Only 1600. I picked it up at the end of September 23 and we’ve had so much rain I just couldn’t be bothered to go out. Now March is almost here I’m hoping the weather will get better. It’s really starting to piss me off.

@@dbharrold `23 must be among the wettest I can remember . Mine is May `23 and came after a `20 750. I did cover a fair number of miles on my 850 and have paid the price.
Guzzi finish is not great and I am not a natural cleaner , so I have flaking ,paint in several areas and the only remedy is refinishing.
Prevention definitely better than cure so time cleaning and applying protection is time well spent.
It would not be fair to say the 850 is worse than the 750 as the 850 has spent much of its life wet and covered in all forms of aggressive road shite!.
Carry on cleaning and I will try and learn by your example.
