I know this is a SUPER late opinion but I feel the show is short enough that if they wanted to put this song in after "When you're an Addams" (of course with a few changes) they TOTALLY could and give the ancestors a little more reason to be there

Either way, in the movies they looked close to the same age, which goes back to the original point that if Wednesday is now 18, Pugsley should be older than he is here.

I enjoy this version a lot but I feel that when you’re an Addams contains more narrative introduction. However I enjoy how they kept a few sections from this song and put it into when you’re an Addams such as the tune to the when you’re a woman part and the dress cut down to Venezuela.
I'm torn! I LOVE this song, but I wonder if its just a little too dark for the opening to the show. @BlueJeanBaby012 Yeah, that was my one and only complaint with the show. Although technically, there is a 3 year age gap (in the show, the kids are said to be 8 and 11). If Wednesday is barely 18, as mentioned somewhere in the show, Pugsley could be 14 (close to 15) and not yet reached puberty. It's not likely, but it is a possibility.

@BlueJeanBaby012 Yeah, that was my one and only complaint with the show. Although technically, there is a 3 year age gap (in the show, the kids are said to be 8 and 11). If Wednesday is barely 18, as mentioned somewhere in the show, Pugsley could be 14 (close to 15) and not yet reached puberty. It's not likely, but it is a possibility.

How can people be saying that this is too dark of an opening number? This is the Addams Family. Personally, I much prefer this to "When You're an Addams". In fact, I prefer the entire pre-Broadway production to the real thing.
