How do you manage to see compilation in real time? I use miktex in windows and it just goes so slow. I tested it in linux once and it was so fast, but I never saw an option to compile it in real time. How did you manage to do it?
I was using the same theme 'Frankfurt' on Overleaf (Texlive 2020). But on the header navigation line, there appear white circles for each section that aren't seen in your video. How can I remove or hide those circles?
Now I don't even need lib re office express, thanks Luke. So what do you use in replace of excel spreadsheets? octave? Are you going to make a tutorial about that?
Depends on what I'm trying to do. For statistics, I've used Octave, but I use R more, storing files in .csv's. Excel is a really general program though, so for what you do with it, you might use something different.
Greetings! This video is very informative for beginners, I really learn much from it. I have one question, I have many sections, so all of them not displaying in the head of slides, please tell me solution how to do it? Thanks in advance.
Is there a template for your CV on your webpage (the one here: lukesmith.xyz/dox/luke_cv.pdf)? I'm looking to update mine and have yet to find a template to my liking.
I guess the setup of vim(bash) on the left and pdf-viewer, which updates the view on the pdf automatically, on the right is explained in another video as well?! Can someone name it to me?
Sorry thats just stupid. There is things that text based editing is good for. Making presentations it is not. You wouldnt edit an image in vim so why do a presentation in vim. This is FAR more pain than nessesary.
Thanks Luke, these videos got me into latex and I'm writing my paper in latex now.
Good to know about beamer, gotta try this one.
I had a seminar presentation yesterday thanks to you I had a cool ass presentation! Thanks Luke :)
This tutorial has helped a lot. I've got a final presentation to do and I'm using LaTeX to do it, even though I don't need to. It's so fun.
*dat unixporn*
u really explained it well in such a short time...best tutorial ever!!!
2:40 UGLY?! That's the best theme for a presentation.
Metropolis IS the best theme on Beamer/LaTeX... Change my minds.
This is the best intro to beamer. Thanks!
you can do this so much faster and more effictive in power point. Latex was not meant for presentations.
Beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!
That. Is. AWESOME!
Now I am totally convinced that WYSIWYG editors are all trash.
What editor is this? Looks sick
super crisp & to the point...wonderful..thanks
Your always in the middle of my nerd searches. Hats off to ya for being a cool duder.

not entirely sure, but i think he just has a command to compile on save. then the pdf reader updates accordingly.
damn dude u are on fire video after video

Very noob question here: you have vim on the left and what on the right?
I would've expected more from a "Pro Presentation". "Making a Basic Presentation with LaTeX's Beamer" would be more descriptive.
No one ever died from hyperbole ;^)
Now I'm tempted to make a video titled "LaTeX Beamer Presentation GONE SEXUAL!!!!".
Maybe my next latex video will be BDSM themed.
Oh, you're ditching Loonix for BDSM?
Typesetting a copypasta with LaTeX instantly makes it look like you solved the universe.
Thanks Luke, NIce and cool presentation

I was actually going to do a little video including modifying my cv pretty soon (possibly today or tomorrow). I'll release the source files with it.
Cool. Keep up the good work!
Are you using MuPDF for this video? The section names aren't appearing for me. I've yet to research this further, but I figured I'd ask anyway.
Scratch that. I figured it out. I forgot the \section tag before the first frame.
Nice video. Is it right to assume you are left handed?
Perfect !! That was a need !!! me encanto !!!
Hello Luke, what is your pdf viewer ? I love its simplicity.

is latex synonym for cancer?
_trending_ is synonymous with _cancer_
Absolutely not. Once you've got the gist of it, it's so much better than Word or PowerPoint. I'd never go back voluntarily.
Ok beamer
