One of the things I love about Miesha Tate is that she NEVER gave up on her dreams. I don't feel the UFC promote that enough, partly because they were directly trying to stop her.
She was Strikeforce champion, lost it to Ronda (hand her elbow tore out it's socket), worked to face Ronda again, lost again. When the UFC had picked Ronda (for good reason) as their star and threw Tate to the Siberia of MMA fighting, whilst Ronda was on Jimmy Kimmel, Miesha was at tiny MMA sponsor gatherings signing merchandise. She fought through 4 opponents and just when it seemed like she would get her shot, the UFC gave it to Holly and Dana was saying Miesha should retire. She finally got her shot, took a beating but still dug deep to get a last second submission. Bravo Miesha Tate!!!
Problem is she never once successfully defended her title. She got lucky vs Holy. Holly dominated her for the whole fight.

BBBYpsi, with the benefit of hindsight, with a lot of fights in the rear view from everyone involved, I don’t think Tate got lucky against Holm and I know Holm didn’t dominate the whole fight. Tate owned the second round, and though it’s Holm’s style, she was on the defensive the entire match. It was a tough, close fight and showed exactly how strong Holm wasn’t on ground. Rousey was better than Tate on the mat and Holm was better than Tate on stand up, but Tate went into the fight knowing what she had to do and sticking with it to the end. Her balanced skill set and sound strategy won the day, as well as her unceasing respect for Holm as a fighter.
Tate and Holm both have repeatedly proven themselves to be class act competitors in every sense.
Miesha is mentally stronger than Ronda, wouldn't be surprised if she avenges the loss.

That's not being a true martial artist or how a proper trainer teaches their students.
