  • The first operations video I've posted on the layout. I did make one error ..... I picked up the wrong tank car from the fuel oil dealer in Mauston ..... amateur ..... 😀

Of I was starting from scratch Iwould go N scale. You show well that N scale puts four times the RR in the same space.

Nice work. Cool models. I model n scale as well. Love seeing other n scale layouts. Great video

Shows that even a simple sky blue backdrop makes a big impact.
I prepaint spray my roadbed a Grey so it looks good until I actually gravel it.

I like the way you mounted the controls. I think the narrow layout has advantages when it comes to accessibility. I almost always have to crawl under the model railway to make certain connections. However, it is a challenge to apply the landscape. Greetings from the Netherlands and Merry Christmas.

Very nice trackwork/track plan. I'm interested in the Camp Douglas interchange. This may be a function of the camera angle, but is the crossing at 90 degrees? If so, did you hand-build those crossings, or is this an Atlas code 55 crossing (60 degree?)? It looks as if your turnouts are commercial, or are those also hand built (again, in the foreground shot in Camp Douglas, it looks as if the (east-bound?) main has a curved turnout - an Atlas curved code 55 turnout, or handbuilt)?
As mentioned previously (in posts about other videos), your locomotive and car weathering is incomparable!

Nate, great video. Like your turnout controls along the facia, but how do you have that connected to your bluepoints?

Hi Nathan. Nice looking layout. Looking forward to seeing it evolve when the scenery starts to take shape. I am just about to build my first layout and it will be in N scale. Can you give me the dimensions of your layout so I can see how much track work fits in a certain area. Cheers Gavin from down under on Oz.

The room is approximately 11' x 17 1/2'. The peninsula sticks out 11 1/2' into the center of the layout. It's built modular so if I move, I can take it with me (just have to cut the track and color-coded wiring at the module ends).
