Korazim National Park near Lake Kinneret, northern Israel
The city was located in an area of basalt rocks on a hill 100 m above sea level. These places were formed by the release of lava flows. As a result, the Golan Mountains rose, the Kinneret region sank and a basalt plug formed. Here in the 1st century AD, the ancient city of Korazim arose.
We enter the ancient city along a preserved narrow street with rectangular houses built of basalt. Inside the houses, the arches supporting the roof have been preserved.
The excavations of the entire ancient city are interesting, but the synagogue leaves a special impression. After the destruction of the Second Temple, the synagogue became a place of congregational prayer and the main and only place of Jewish religious life.
Now about the excavations themselves. The city was located in an area of approximately 100 dunams and was divided into 5 quarters. There was a synagogue in the center of the city. 3-4 centuries - the time of prosperity of the city. Periods of revival alternated with periods of decline, and this continued until the 8th century. Between the 13th and 17th centuries, the city was inhabited intermittently. In the 16th century, there was a Jewish settlement in these places, whose residents were engaged in fishing. The antiquities of Korazim were first discovered in the 18th century, but the main excavations date back to the beginning of the 20th century.
The excavated area is small: it is part of a city quarter with residential and commercial buildings, a synagogue, a ritual pool, and a room for olive oil production.

Спасибо, Анюта! Но Если идти от Эйн Двир до Кинерета с заходом в Коразим, то будет совершенно другой маршрут. А я шла от 90-го шоссе...
