Question: if you are a person who purchased items in the Cash Shop and found that future patches nerfed its attributes, can't you just petition to have your account credited and just use it to buy a replacement item? Again, this applies to Cash Shop items with stats affected by patch changes.
I pretty much agree with your assessment of all the changes. The only thing I was concerned with was attack speed but it's made me start getting creative with how to build my gear. I think that is a good thing.
In your opinion, do you think that the increased repair costs will then decrease the amount of gold on the open market and therefore make it more valuable? Do you see items that used to sell for 2-3 mil gold start selling for 1.5 -2 mill instead because of a possible value increase in the currency?
Personally I love the changes Blizzard has made. Doing Inferno Act 1 on hardcore atm and enjoying the game a lot! Diablo 3 is a lot better game and more difficult than Diablo 2 ever was.
There's Level and Item-level, item-level is used to decide how good stats a certain item can have, not at what level you can wear them., hope that clears the confusion up.
The thing with attack speed is not the dps, its the animation speed. You get a lot more mobile with more attack speed, and it just feels better. I was playing late yesterday (unaware of the patch), and it just felt as it was lagging or something, like syrup in the keyboard. Besides that I can live with the other changes in this patch.
Does anyone know how MF gear affects the percentages of the lvl 61+ drops in inferno? Are the percentages listed for 0% MF? Do the percentages go up with MF? And by how much?
You know, I thought the IAS nerf would be really bad too at first, because I play a WD that depends on chance to CC and he needs a fast IAS to spam to keep mobs under control. But after seeing how much the mobs' dps have been reduced, it's actually not that bad. Sure everything feels like it's in slow motion right now, but my pets are actually dying quite a bit less. So I wouldn't give up on the monk just yet.
Ok I start again ;p Thanks for this comment on new patch. I was wondering about a lot of it and the reasons behind such drastic changes and thanks to you I have understood most of it. Keep doing a great job :) Celdor
Barbarian here. This patch is awesome, I finally finished act 2 and starting act 3 now. Just bought myself a stormshield + justice lantern, and moving on to act 3. Wish me luck :)
As a wizard in inferno I can be blasting everything in my path, run across a jailer, moardar ...ect you get 1 shot , if i change my skills so i still cant get past this one single group and i loose my 5 stack. Whats the incentive? Rush the one stupid unbalenced enemy a couple of times then back to farming.
The major issue with repair costs doesn't have to do with dying. Even if you are using the right gear/build for inferno, you still have to pay way too much gold for getting hit and living. I think the repair cost for dying should stay how it is but make gear last longer and not need repaired as often if you are staying alive and simply getting hit by mobs.
What I want to be fixed: • Change the repair cost to something between the new and old cost. • Get the Attack Speed back as it was before. • Make Act 1, 2, 3 and 4 Inferno a bit harder again, but don't let Act 2 be like a wall of death.
You know you can still buy from the gold AH, and since you will be getting more rares (and better items) you can still get gold form the AH OR farm and get the gear you want, since you can get lvl63 items from act 1 inferno. So its not like you need to use the AH, in fact i think now you can use it less frequently.
i thought i would play this game like everyday but i havent played in over 2 weeks. i dont feel like im missing anything.. (i got my monk to inferno and kept dying even with decent gear) maybe i should try again?
The thing that pisses me off the most is that IAS buffs for weapons was MORE than a 50% decrease. My dagger went from 15% to 5% which would be a 66% decrease. These poorly implemented changes are frustrating at best.
I completely agree with the outlook on the real money auction house. In addition, I'd like to point out that it is possible to obtain high level, good quality items for large sums of gold in the regular auction house. I personally find it silly to buy virtual items for games with money (with the exception of free to play games to support devs).
I believe that the increased repair cost is forcing some people to use the RMAH, which sucks imo.. As a wizard it is difficult to obtain good enough gear to actually not get one-shotted. And with the new repair costs it is going to take ages to farm the gold for good items..
hey force, i sent you a message on twitter... did you know that the max cost for an item in the RMAH in "mexican pesos" is 250 pesos? thats about 19 usd!!! and its actually the same server (for playing, not for the AH)
The problem I have with the IAS nerf is the fact that not only have people spent real money on these items which now aren't nearly as good, but Blizzard takes an actual cut of that money. In theory then, continuous nerfing of items causes people to need to spend more money which puts money in Blizzard's pocket. Now I don't think that was the reason obviously, but it does make me wonder if there's a conflict of interest.
I did have some spirit regen. But still most of Monk's strategy is based on Life on Hit (per attack), generate spirit (per attack) and short temporary buffing (per attack). DPS was the last of my concern, the speed nerf makes the Monk a really weird character, almost unsuitable for Hardcore now IMO. If they play themselves they will know, so my guess that in the future they have to buff something in the future for the Monk, if they care about Hardcore players at all.
what if they increased the cost after multiple deaths in a short span of time instead of a flat increase to the cost? I mean it limits the viability of zerging after multiple deaths while not hindering squishy characters who have low survivability because they need high damage (mainly referring to the demon hunter since it's the only class that has no viable builds that focus on survivability)
Hi Dennis. I would love it, if you did make a guideline for every char. I play Wizard but cant find good info about what stats i should go for in like items and etc. Skills and runes is no problem . I need help with Items and what i should go for. But im not selfish . It would be awesome
With "carrot on a stick" being the fundamental goal of this game, I don't think they will ever make significant enough changes to have fun be a priority over getting that carrot as fast and efficiently as possible.
Great video, Force. I loved everything about 1.0.3, and when I saw all the rage in the forums I was shocked and wondered if I was crazy or something. Glad to see I'm not. :)
I completely agree, it feels like the gameplay has slowed down a noticeable amount with the atk speed decrease. That and my monk kinda depended on atk speed for spirit generating/survivability. Throw in the ridiculous repair costs that melee characters have to put up with now as we can't just kite everything and its a big middle finger to my face.
Great video Force! Even though you are sarcastic in the whole video (Force feed) I only sence the humor in the last part, because you almost always put in a joke in the end. I really enjoyed this video, and the patch made me wanna play the game more now!
I agree that the enraged timer for both mobs and bosses should be changed because now that my wd is focused a bit more on survival, it can't kill it before the timer so this just goes back to encouraging glass cannon builds
This patch hurt me so badly. I play a dh and bought so much stuff from the ah to progress, was always able to kill belial, solo'd azmodan, got to diablo on inferno wasn't able to kill him resorted to farming because i ran out of gold since i bought so much gear, but then the as nerf ruined me and i mean completely destroyed me i cant even kill belial anymore, and with the repair cost I'm not even making gold from farming since i play glass cannon I'm dying here and there and not making gold.
my buddy bought equipment off the reall money auction house he had a 40kdps in inferno act2 now its 28kdps because of the nerfs. he is communicating with them on how to rectify thid mstter snd people may get some kind of reimbursement
I looted an amulet in act2 that I sold for 5,1 million, before the patch I bought gear that focused on critchance and critdamage instead of attackspeed :) I'm really enjoying it now
Can any1 plz tell me the stats i need for act 2 inferno iam barb and iam getting 3 shotted from white mobs , also how do i upgrade my gear i cant afford to buy it from auction house so any tips on how to get better gear ??
I used attack speed with LL to survive in Hardcore. My Monk just died. Blizzard focuses so much on Softcore, probably because most people play that, but completely ignored how melee people have to survive in HC. Monk doesn't regenerate spirit on it's own. I have to use offensive skills to stay defensive (dodge buff). How does Blizzard expect a Monk to survive now? Without speed, a Monk simply can't do anything (no spirit, no life gain, less dodge). Monks aren't heavy hit miracles like barbs.
i went from 40k dmg down to 27k dmg, had 2 rings and 1 ammy with 15% AS and took a huge lose there. with the very little HP i have now and really no dps to kill things, im struggling harder then ever. lucky im holding my B.net balance and not buying stuff off the AH but the gold front is just crumbling so fast with the repairs. also im a wizard so with the dps lost and hardly no HP, im force to a long ass res time unable to kill anything now. but as a gamer, im going to struggle on andovercomeit
Don't let the haters discourage you Force... You work your ass off to bring us all this great content including playthroughs of various games, Force feed, Purgetory, hints and ideas for games and somehow you still work AND have a girlfriend... Though I personally shake my head in disgrace at your bad humour, I watch the Force Feed for the actual news (though your opinions are also important)
Force, about the increase repair cost. You didn't mention the fact the main people getting hit by this are the people that take a lot of damage because their characters are designed that way. Barbs stand in the middle of a pack taking damage for a long time thus needing a lot more gold to repair. IMO this is by far the biggest flaw in the new patch. They wanted to make melee more viable? They just nerfed it to hell.
Yep I think the only two classes that are good for act 2 onward are barb and monk. I get two hit death as my wiz. And my dps dropped from 43k to 27k. Annoying. And my repair cost is like 38k. For red death...And honestly. My Wizard is getting nailed asap every time. My gear is now focused on armor and Vitality for my Wizard...I like my WD in Inferno...but hey Monk and Barb are the way to go. That's it.
I follow this stuff VERY closely and never saw this. I wasn't hinging on attack speed but the 7k drop in damage i suffered made things worse ontop of repair costs
Hey Force CTRL+F then in the search panel that appear you type "attack speed" :) Yeah pretty useful to search into those wall of text patch notes :) Take care ! (i like your show very much)
Yea exactly, so if they are spending more money than they are making, what does that have anything to do with not wanting people to play the game? I'm talking about his "link" between them spending more, and not wanting people to play is what doesn't make sense.
First of all, I was one of the guys taking the Force Feed too seriously, and I apologize for my previous comment. I actually understand the sarcasm most of the time. As for the patch - I simply LOVE it. As for people buying 250$ items that got nerfed - I never got why people would spend 250$ on an item that isn't THAT good, like you said when the RMAH was announced.
Hey man, Im with you on the sarcasm, shit its one of the best things about your vids, that and your diablo 3 coverage, keep up the hard work, + respect.
the DH's in inferno focus on damage instead of survivability, even with the damage reduced they still die in one hit, their aim is to kill their targets before they take hits.
block is same except instead of dodging dmg it blocks a certain amount. based on shield, that amount won't ever change. barbs can ony take more hits cuz they have a shield most the time plus pluss the res all an d dodge that dh and wiz and wd would have
ive been stuck in inferno act I since the first week but now i can gear up, im super happy, and even more happy about the boss drop change to rare/champ packs
You realize "glass cannon" is simply a term to describe building a character that deals a ton of damage but can't take a hit, right? I'm just fine with the repair bills because I know how to not die.
Also: this patch still left one BIG problem: the loot still sucks and the drop-rates for good loot are still WAY too low. I never got a single good item the entire time I was playing. And knowing that the rates are so abysmal in order to preserve the economy of the RMAH (something I refuse to use)? That infuriated me so much I simply stopped playing.
I would have still be playing D2 instead of D3 but for some reason i was stuck on Act 2 in D2 which i was needed to find the claw vipers within the lost city and iv'e cleared all of the map and haven't found the entrance because im guessing i was missing a patch which the spot.
Please do some more videos on your farming runs. I've found the Weeping Hollow, Fields of Misery and the Southern/Northern Highlands to be great, perhaps even better than doing Warden/Butcher now. Act 2 I don't think is even worth going into, as it's so hard to survive it's not worth the repair costs. Act 3 even more so.
they should not nerf attack speed. Maybe add a damage penalty to items with attack speed. like if its 10% increase speed, you get a -5% damage penalty.
So the only way to play Inferno act 2 is to focus Armor? and Vitality....and go lite on DPS irrelevant on class...
Question: if you are a person who purchased items in the Cash Shop and found that future patches nerfed its attributes, can't you just petition to have your account credited and just use it to buy a replacement item?
Again, this applies to Cash Shop items with stats affected by patch changes.
agreed, but what's the point of magic find gear now if you can't equip it when you're opening a chest?
Im finally getting Diablo 3 this week. What character do you recommend I play as my 1st?
I read on the forums that someone's purchase was reversed by their bank. They claimed that the items were not as advertised or something similar.
Any news on the PvP release date? i tried google but didnt see anything
Is hiding a legendary sword in a weapon rack or chest unreal then as well?
Hadn't blizzard announced that the IAS affix was going to be nerfed even before the RMAH was openend?
Superb round-up of everything related to the patch Force. Level-headed, future conscious... spot on.
what's your damage and resists?
There's Level and Item-level, item-level is used to decide how good stats a certain item can have, not at what level you can wear them., hope that clears the confusion up.
The thing with attack speed is not the dps, its the animation speed. You get a lot more mobile with more attack speed, and it just feels better. I was playing late yesterday (unaware of the patch), and it just felt as it was lagging or something, like syrup in the keyboard. Besides that I can live with the other changes in this patch.
So based on your awesome math skills, you got 0.75 rare items that were ilvl 62 or higher?
I would love to know what ur oppinion on the game as a whole is right now if it's not too much to ask for
Does anyone know how MF gear affects the percentages of the lvl 61+ drops in inferno? Are the percentages listed for 0% MF? Do the percentages go up with MF? And by how much?

Thanks for this comment on new patch. I was wondering about a lot of it and the reasons behind such drastic changes and thanks to you I have understood most of it. Keep doing a great job :)
Celdor
They mentioned the nerf of IAS before the launch of the RMAH.
Barbarian here. This patch is awesome, I finally finished act 2 and starting act 3 now. Just bought myself a stormshield + justice lantern, and moving on to act 3. Wish me luck :)
Very smart! A pop-up-disclaimer when buying items on the RMAH would be great.
What is nephalem valor? Inferno thingy only?
I'm on the fence to should I get Daiblo III or not,it looks like the game is in beta...
Love that you are so sarcastic in The Force Feed, it makes it more fun to watch :) keep up the good work. Don't give in to all the care bears :D
As a wizard in inferno I can be blasting everything in my path, run across a jailer, moardar ...ect you get 1 shot , if i change my skills so i still cant get past this one single group and i loose my 5 stack. The demon hunter is the glass without the cannon. The wizard at least has some tanking abilities but the DH can only hide or flee.

i thought i would play this game like everyday but i havent played in over 2 weeks. i dont feel like im missing anything.. (i got my monk to inferno and kept dying even with decent gear) maybe i should try again?
I was not talking about inferno being hard or the attack speed changes. Read my other comments.
agreed with all of your thoughts. repair bills might aswell also serve as a gold sink to reduce inflation which could be a good thing in the long run.
The thing that pisses me off the most is that IAS buffs for weapons was MORE than a 50% decrease. My dagger went from 15% to 5% which would be a 66% decrease. These poorly implemented changes are frustrating at best.

How can I get this patch for PS3 emulator? I have v.01.00
hey force, i sent you a message on twitter... did you know that the max cost for an item in the RMAH in "mexican pesos" is 250 pesos? thats about 19 usd!!! and its actually the same server (for playing, not for the AH)
In act 2, with 5 NV, elites sometimes dropped only 1 rare =\ It aint in the patch yet.
The problem I have with the IAS nerf is the fact that not only have people spent real money on these items which now aren't nearly as good, but Blizzard takes an actual cut of that money. at NV*5, the rares now usually drop 3 yellows. :)
the as nurf hit my melee much harder i cant solo belial any more on him
Hi Dennis. I would love it, if you did make a guideline for every char. I play Wizard but cant find good info about what stats i should go for in like items and etc. Skills and runes is no problem . I need help with Items and what i should go for. But im not selfish . It would be awesome
Totally off topic, but can everyone with a battle.net account download and play sc2? I was able to and I've been playing it since.
With "carrot on a stick" being the fundamental goal of this game, I don't think they will ever make significant enough changes to have fun be a priority over getting that carrot as fast and efficiently as possible.

Yeah, now I have around 3000 LoH, but it still doesn't do anywhere near as much as it did before the newer patches...
did anyone actualy do the MATH on what all those numbers mean?
Great video Force! Even though you are sarcastic in the whole video (Force feed) I only sence the humor in the last part, because you almost always put in a joke in the end. I really enjoyed this video, and the patch made me wanna play the game more now!
Maybe stack up your priority stat instead of attack speed with 0 INT / DEX / STR
I agree that the enraged timer for both mobs and bosses should be changed because now that my wd is focused a bit more on survival, it can't kill it before the timer so this just goes back to encouraging glass cannon builds

Yeah, the journey was amazing. It has been 3 great months, and no matter how many disappointments came with it, it was still a very joyful ride.
also liked the change to monster that run away, to flee less often
Does anyone think the lvl cap is too low?
So... do u recommend me this game?
my buddy bought equipment off the reall money auction house he had a 40kdps in inferno act2 now its 28kdps because of the nerfs. he is communicating with them on how to rectify thid mstter snd people may get some kind of reimbursement
Why not instead of changing attack speed lower the dps. Attack speed is the same but the dps is lowered.
I looted an amulet in act2 that I sold for 5,1 million, before the patch I bought gear that focused on critchance and critdamage instead of attackspeed :) I'm really enjoying it now
hey force, just wanted to say you have great content keep it up :)

It's itemLevel that is 61-63. These items require lv60 characters to use.
lol i cant update my diablo ... it cant find the files to update i guess
Don't let the haters discourage you Force... You work your ass off to bring us all this great content including playthroughs of various games, Force feed, Purgetory, hints and ideas for games and somehow you still work AND have a girlfriend... People unsubbed over that?! Wow... Never change force keep up the great work.
thing is, with the attack speed nerf... i now need even more dps gear to make up for it.... rather than survivability...
Force, about the increase repair cost. You didn't mention the fact the main people getting hit by this are the people that take a lot of damage because their characters are designed that way.
I'm so glad im subcribed to you, you are one of the better youtubers :)
As for people buying 250$ items that got nerfed - I never got why people would spend 250$ on an item that isn't THAT good, like you said when the RMAH was announced.
thanks for making this video, dennis. i learned tons from you!
Thank you for further backing up my point with the incredible amount of sarcasm.

You realize "glass cannon" is simply a term to describe building a character that deals a ton of damage but can't take a hit, right? I'm just fine with the repair bills because I know how to not die.
Also, great video (no one is commenting the video :), it gave me some hope back as some of the changes are not that bad.
i halted all my lvl60s till this patch. i started with a barb and it was brick for me from A2
I agree with the repair costs going up but maybe not so much for barbs. Barbs have to get hit a lot and repair more often.
Blizzard stated that attack speed would be significant decreased BEFORE the RMAH were released, people need to start read their homepage...
The dmg monsters do is less, and ALL attack speed has been cut in half- therefore its really the same ratio as before..in every way.....
A soft cap could have fixed it without ruining the value of the gear. Dont you think?
The star gems are still 80k they only reduced the price to craft up to level 8 jewelcrafting
I would have still be playing D2 instead of D3 but for some reason i was stuck on Act 2 in D2 which i was needed to find the claw vipers within the lost city and iv'e cleared all of the map and haven't found the entrance because im guessing i was missing a patch which the spot.
Nice review of the patch...I pretty much feel the same way you do wit everything...good thing my WD isnt built around att.speed haha
Maybe add a damage penalty to items with attack speed. like if its 10% increase speed, you get a -5% damage penalty.
but i cant keep owning because of the attack speed nerf
