This was one of the first movies made in Baltimore, the opening scene was filmed in my fathers business....the Armistead Hotel and Bar....at the corner of Holiday and Fayette Streets across from city hall. The Hotel had 104 rooms and the bar capacity was 105 patrons.....there was also a Horn and Horn restaurant on the other side of the bar......The Trotta Gym was next door to us and was over the Troc Club on Baltimore’s Infamous “ Block “ ....Home to Blaze Starr.......Rocky Marciano was a very close friend to Nick Trotta the owner of the Troc Club and visited the gym on his visits to Baltimore....the pool table was added for the movie.....Ron O’Neal was great as was the whole crew.....we were closed for two weeks for the shoot.....the original name for this movie was “ Don’t call me boy “ .....but the producers changed it to “ The Hitter “.....and it was a very popular movie when it came out......it was fun to be behind the scenes watching how they make a movie......a few years later another movie with Al Pacino was made called “ And Justice for All “....we were able to watch that filming also, as the scene at the Rivoli Garage where Al Pacino went berserk at one of his colleagues was next to our building and we kept the bar open for the crew.....great folks to work with....
I really wish i cud have been around for the 70's i was born in 82 seems like the 70's and early 80's before the crack epidemic life was fun of course there were hurdles but ppl were much more nicer times were simpler and it just seems like everyone had loads of fun... Now ppl are selfish self centered materialistic narcissistic arrogant no one appreciates the little things and everyone is always in a rush!... Its sad
When watching Sheila Frazier and Ron O'neal together, I get the feeling they were more than co-stars in the three movies they were in together. Notice Ron O'neal never had ANY Other female lead after he and Sheila Frazier. They did have chemistry.
One of my favorites. I am definitely not taking anything away from Ron O'Neal.....whom indeed is one of my favorite actors....but Adolph Caesar made the movie for me.
I love watching the old black expolation movies one of the reason I like bounce tv especially on Saturday due to the fact they played these types of films
but Bounce has commercials, doesn’t it? i recently recorded “Mahogany” and “Lady Sings the Blues” on Bounce and was disappointed to find that they had been edited.
You want the black Charles Bronson?? Checkout Jim Brown in some of the movies of the 70s He also played a guy that you dont want to waste his time once he starts asking questions
She is not hotter than Sheila Frazier, if so that bitch would be the co star! She is just a powder donut in comparison to SHELIA FRAIZIER WHO IS LIKE Gold & Diamond Chocolates! LOL
Ronald Hawkins stop the division with blk ppl..all blk women dont swirl..You sound like a white person grouping us blk ppl all together, good , bad, thugs,educated...You sound so ignorant..you dont even kno her! You need to be talking to blk men...they've been sleeping white, green, yellow ,pink forever..
