That funeral scene in Sister Sister where she sings I Got Joy in my heart is one of her best in the series! Remember it's the funeral of a woman she hated and she was high on novacaine from the dentist so she had no filter 😂😂😂😂

Jenifer Lewis also played Effie in the workshop as well. But, yes a lot of people don’t know Dreamgirls was made for Nell Carter. She left for Gimme A Break.

Dreamgirls was originally called “One Night Only”, and then “Project 9”. After they rewrote some of the scenes and songs, they called it Dreamgirls. I can understand why they would kill Effie off in the original script considering that Florence died but I’m glad they changed that
