Thanks for this short video. I can't believe how long some of the videos are for turning water off. Like in a 911 emergency someone has 5 to 10 minutes to get information to stop the water from destroying their home.
If you live in Detroit or similar areas where the ground freezes in the winter, you need a 10 foot long version of that tool. Maybe you could get away with a 6 footer.
This guy neglected to say that you need to turn the valve *slowly*, esp. back on, to avoid "valve hammer" in which the water slams against the closed valves doing expensive damage. Turn the valve slowly.
Preach!! You said that right, it's no joke either, 23yrs as a firefighter, I've seen a few fire truck pumps come apart like a game of Jenga cause someone would get in a hurry and open a valve too quick with 2-3hundred gpm headed their way..lol. We called it water hammer, same thing though.
What if mine won’t turn at all? I can turn it on after having the city turn it off. But I hate having to do repairs when I get off work. Would like to do the work on the weekends
Make sure your taps are open, and as I said before turn very slowly. Make sure you turn it back off, before you pay your bill. I would not do this, if I was living in the USA, as you can get a criminal record. Municipal offences are not criminal in Canada, but the municipality could fine you. You may want to check the bylaws , to see what the fine is. It may be more than what you owe, so it may be better to pay the water bill. You are never going to get free water, as the meter records all the water flowing into the house.
🤷I went to check my meter box I opened the lid to discover it's completely off. I went to turn the water on only to discover the pressure is very low. Is it a malfunctioning electronic issue or did the company shut the water off? The bill is paid so what's going on here???😳
Everything he said is accurate!!! but please save your money before you consider buying that tool all you need is a pair of pliers or anything of that sort!!! I just did it and it’s the easiest thing in the world!
