I was born and raised in TX but have been "Up North" for 24 years and people still ask me "where am I from?" I do not think I have an accent but still do, I guess.
The question everyone wants answered is why the hell would anyone ever move up north, you must be the only one because people don't even do that for careers anymore, it's just not worth it

Anytime I was around my dad and he hesrd me answer ANY adult with a simple yes or no he'd say "YES WHAT?" id say yes sir and he would say thats right dont act like you was raised in the woods, and my young self would say, but i was raised in the woods, then he'd ssy yea, but you dont have to act like it. I’m from South Carolina and went to NYC. While I was there , people were speaking all types of languages but if I said anything, everyone would stop and look at me 😂it was hilarious ✌️💚😁
South Carolina as well, upstate. I went to Delaware and people couldn't half understand me lol. It felt like a different world. No one was rude about it, most actually liked it. It just felt so foreign compared to the south.
