If you could make it a dually or even a 2 wheel drive and upgrade the brakes these things could haul a food stall or similar small business set up. I would definitely make the rear axle wider for stability. The speed tests were needlessly dangerous dude you could have fishtailed and really had a bad day for nothing...
I would have gone with reverse trike (tadpole) but Fucare has been all over the influencer channels this past few weeks so it's cool they gave him one to cut up.
Wider Axle, Hitch ball much closer to rear wheel or move further away rear wheel so you can move the hitch above/slightly further infront of the rear's axle X-axis, Wider (radial) front disc brake for more braking power, add a limited slip clutch and this thing will be a beast
A little more weight on the e-bike meaning a bit more robust framing and much bigger brakes and a little bigger rear wheels would make it safer. But you definitely without a doubt proved your point! Bang up job! So what’s your next project?🤩
Or he could put the crank arms how they originally were to put his weight down in a normal standing position, like standing on a bike. Instead of putting bigger wheels on it, raising his center of gravity which is exactly what you don't want for a trike.
I worked on an e cargo bike for a year, they are very popular in London (uk). Hauled cargo stock for business. One of the businesses with the biggest weekly load was selling kombucha, about 30 to 35 boxes (about the size of a beer crate) filled with glass bottles and liquid, whipping around all over London, some locations take about 35 to 40 mins. It's 3 wheeled, all attached to the main (not spit) frame. Crazy torque, full or not. The box seems like it's exactly the same size as the thumbnail one, but with bicycle wheel and fabricated and sold with the whole electric setup
Yeah, I'd think for any serious kind of hauling of trailers at least, you'd need to have the trailer wheels with brakes that are connected to your bikes brakes. Anything less than that, you're asking for trouble if you try to emergency brake.
It needs a trailer with 3 wheels, a jockey wheel so the balanced weight goes on that rather than the bike It also needs a braked trailer overrun system All are already on the carla cargo trailer which carries 200kg for bicycles and come in assisted and non assisted models
I think an upgrade to larger rear tires and a wider rear axel or having a two wheel front and one rear config would allow for higher stability and braking performance as if you only used the disk brakes, the fronts would be nice to have two. If this was done for real, having a trailer set up with its own brakes would probably make it a ton better for the street. I also am questioning the legality of this on the street with the trailer
You can put the rear wheels farther back, Use Larger rear wheels, Mount the tow bracket farthr forward, Then all the weight goes Over the rear wheels, instead of behind, add baskets, Use Proper rear wheels, not gocart racing wheels, Add a larger battery, and you can make these things Haull major loads, If your Trailor has brakes then you can stop safer. you can fully replace a truck with one of these.
I’ve been watching surronster since 50k and I just want to say how amazing it is to watch your progress and how much the quality of your videos have gone up
How many 62 year olds in here ? After eye surgery I thought to acquire an electric scooter to go back forth to groceries. I couldn't drive there, the electric hiboys2p has been phenominal; Has opened up and grown my perspective. Ive wanted a Suron since 3 years ago. Coming from dirt bikes I couldnt justify it back then. These electric pit bikes the yz85/similar custom build is way I want to go for a first pev build... Asa custom fabricator should be a fun project. But I'll have to get way more education on the electric-side of the conversion, thats where my experience is lacking. But here this 62 yr young retiree is; Which has lead me to SurRonster...amazing world, this video is epic content. Opportunity abounds in our current world...
Just buy this and you can haul a new tv or couch etc. looks like a load cap at 1000lbs. Weather permitting. Wonder id we will start seeing this like Asia with all the little delivery trikes
Glad to see you finally started appreciating Newton. Your problems with towing the trailer and towing the truck was not the power, it was the mass. If you fully loaded the trailer I would not, NOT, exceed 15 mph. You obviously have plenty of torque. But you don't have the mass to act as an inertial dampener at higher speeds.
@@EBikeBuilder_ I was mistaken about the brand but there is a brand that sells heavy cargo high power e-trikes. The trikes are orange and come in different cargo container sizes.
1. Use a diff from a quad 2. Move the axle back and put the ball 0.5~2in in front of the axle OR add 220lbs/100kg to the front forks. 3. Add dual front disc brakes as large as you can find 4. Brake controller with a trailer that has brakes. 5. enable and setup Regen on the motor so you have better rear brakes
after around 1000 discharges you'll need a new battery. not sure about your bike, but battery powered car batteries are around $30000. towing with a battery powered vehicle greatly decrease range. Charging batteries takes a long time. I'll continue filling my gas tank in less than 3 minutes and not being required to put a new powerplant in every 1000 fillups.
Much love from Australia Sur Ronster! Just picked up an insane electric skateboard. Heaps of fun. You’re inspiring to so many people man! Keep doing what you do, you’re going far
A small tweak you can make to the bike is to add some weight to the front end to help Keep it down such as a detachable weight you can add or something built into the frame to help keep it down
With the U-Haul trailer on, that's definitely my new future home on wheels right there. I'd just do bigger back wheels and invest in a few more batteries to change out when I'm on the road. And a solar generator to charge my batteries on the go.
Epic video dude, loved the story progression and video idea! Just when we though two bicycle brakes on a surron was bad you run a single bicycle brake towing a uhaul 😂
Haha reminds me of a tractor dirt pull. You need a hitch riser and more weight over the front wheel and it would work great. Maybe put a basket in the front to carry cargo for weight.
Next time : electric bike can replace my home and truck all in one (rends inhale puts a mattress a compost toilet a camping shower page and a propane burner lol
the rear swing arm should've been longer to mitigate tipping and understeering. But then the rear wheel base should probably be a little wider as well. And then... Meh, it's far from perfect, but definitely fun to watch, and definitely works.
good idea for the summer and short distance. Im not hauling nothing when its minus 5 Celcius. or its pooring rain. I would take a comfy truck with ac or heater over a e-bike anyday. You have fun but dont complain about the weather, you wanted a eco friendly e-bike
In the Netherlands, they have cargo e bikes that are capable of hauling crazy heavy loads. They call them "bakfiets" over there. They use these bikes in much the same way people use pickups and SUV's here in the US and Canada. They even use them for delivery trucks around the city. The only catch is that they're not very fast. I would love to see if one of these things can be modified to go about as fast as a Surron light bee or something similar to that. Bosch actually makes a special motor for these bikes that has a lot of low-end torque.
if you had your own 1000 pound trailer, put a huge lithium ion pack In the floor, upgraded the brakes, upgraded the motor cooling, you could have a cool hauler. You could even throw some solar panels on the roof.
Bro You filmed that in Sherman oaks We live mad close together lol Loves the uhaul bit That should be the official test for all ebikes from now on Pioneer 💡
U could had made it so the towing ball would be exactly on top of the rear axel so the weight of the cargo didnt pulled the front whell up. Maybe even a little in front of the rear axel would send more weight to the front whell and would turn better, but also demand more from the bike frame.
Haha, "fit up to 5 people uncomfortably!" I wish Ford still made the original small Rangers like yours. And your creation looks pretty fun, just need to find a way to connect your brakes to the trailer's own brakes.
Without watching this video I can say my ‘86 Ranger cannot be replaced by an ebike and it is not a money pit. I paid 1100 for it in 2012 and it’s all original accept for some body panels and normal maintenance which anything with wheels needs. Plus there is no slave labor behind it unlike ebike batteries. Having said that, I love ebikes. Pedal assist though.
Bro, you should go sign up for the Danger Ranger 500 race at Bristol. An event held by Cleetus McFarland. I'll be their racing my Ranger. Anyone with a Ford Ranger can enter. It would be awesome to see you race. Would be even better if you come and I smoke you on the track, lol.
Should try to redesign it where the hitch and ball mount are past the axel like a triangle. So just extend the axel back and move the hitch to where the ball mount is, or bring it closer to the seat like a goose neck trailer hitch. U can just get a ball mount for the 2 inch hitch.
The limitation is weight distribution. Could an e bike do the work of trucks? Yes but slowly. Now on the trailer end, a few tricks you could do is brake controlling on the trailer and battery extending in the trailer to compensate for the losses incurred with the weight and extra braking hardware.

I agree with everything... BUT, you have to admit, it looks like fun! Sketchy fun, but fun. 😅

Leave it to Surronster to do a wheelie while towing a trailer. Truly good stuff 😂
He's insane
surronster u promised us a kuberg ranger review... IT NEVER CAME pls make one. GUYS MAKE THIS THE TOP COMMENT SO HE SEES IT
You should put some bigger wheels and some thing to keep the front wheel down .Please do it because it's gonna make this bike way better.

I don't think he realizes that Rad Power Bikes already has a line of electric cargo trikes.
