    Turtles are special to me because I saw them hatching on a beach in Florida.

    So planet earth recently taught me that, because a lot of cities are next to the beaches these days, baby turtles mistake the artificial lights as the moon when they're born at night, so they climb towards that and then, gets crushed by cars or dying from exhaustion from crawling towards nothing.. wow these turtles have it tough

    Always amazing. There is no other David Attenborough! I was fortunate to be present at Perth Zoo, when an ECONOMICS student and meeting Sir D, helped me choose to take part in the Ningaloo Reef campaign etc...

    So inspiring. Member viewing quite similar natural films 40-50yrs ago, with damnable film makers showing predators taking half tryin' to get to water, other predators in water.Jeezsh!

    Green sea turtles get their name from the color of their body fat, which is green because of the algae they eat.
    Adult green sea turtles prefer coral reefs, seagrass beds, and mangroves, while hatchlings and juveniles live farther from shore.
    Unlike most sea turtles, adult green turtles are herbivorous, feeding on sea grasses and algae in the wild, while in captivity, they feed on lettuce and cabbage. Juvenile green turtles, however, will also eat invertebrates like crabs, jellyfish, and sponges.
    Green sea turtles are threatened or endangered and are fast and powerful swimmers, reaching up speeds of nearly 40 miles per hour.

    Used to to Monrepos Queensland Australia as kid ( till you had to book a tour ) I only ever saw Loggerheads there . They have a few Greens and flatbacks I only ever one of them nest .

      I KNOW RIGHT it is so cute to watch the baby turtles run for the ocean on the scorching sand although all that awaits them there is a current that will end up washing most of them out to the ocean in which they will drown.

    For the people who want to be able to help them into the sea after hatching- even if you did that it would make very little difference in how many reach reproductive age, and therefore very little difference in the survival of the species. It's a nice thought, but the place people should help them is when they are adults or almost so and prone to getting caught in fishing nets and drowned. That's their biggest threat, so start with fishing boats if you want to save the turtles.

    I know y’all in the comments feel for the little guys, but having a harsh start to the world that kills off the unlucky or weaker members off the bat is a way to assure the strongest genes get passed on. It’s sad, but it’s for the betterment of their species.

    Because humans arent the only one who are smart.. They just remember how to go back, its by the way incredible that those beings hatch and instantly know that they have to go to the sea. We really need to save the oceans..

    The only thing human babies know is to eat, yet the first thing a turtle baby do is to run toward the sea. They sure know and can do a lot as newborns.
