We are having a very wet and backwards spring here in Ontario. Just rains too often. I have a 8920 CaseIH Magnum, which is basically much the same tractor as yours. I was out working ground getting it ready for Soybeans the other day, and it was in the high 70’s Fahrenheit, and the Air Conditioning quit. Didn’t want to have the widows open because of dust, and didn’t want to quit because it was supposed to rain the next day, and had. So I spent the day riding the tractor in my boxer shorts, drinking iced tea and sweating it out. These cabs are like a sauna bath without air conditioning
I know what you are talking about. Those Magnum cabs are a greenhouse and incredibly hot even on a moderately warm day if the AC quits. 2090 not so bad.
Hi Ralph Glade ya got your seeding done, we still got a few fields left to do we got rained out a few days ago, at least we didn't get any snow like they did in Western Manitoba. I remember we had to replace the headcasget on our JD 2550 a few years ago and the old gal got a engine over haul at the same time with new Cylinders and I believe pistons too. awesome video
Urs, i heard there was snow out that way so you are lucky to miss that. I have a video on here from a few years ago replacing the head gasket on the Super 90 Massey. Perkins diesel. It was not too bad to work on right here in the workshop. So far it is holding just fine.
Glad you are getting to the end of seeding. We are not quite there yet and are VERY wet the last several days so it's going to get pretty late for us. I had canola peeking out of the snow on Friday!..Yep,frost overnight here in the 25th also.
We have been lucky with almost ideal moisture and hardly any days lost to rain. I have not checked for frost damage but I doubt there is anything other than volunteer canola up here.
Good morning Roosty. Could just be the head gasket. Not a hard job, just can be time-consuming, especially when you need the tractor. Our 2294 has a little coolant in the oil, I'm 99.9% sure it's the liner seals. That means we take the engine all apart and put new liners, pistons and bearings in it. Only has a couple thousand hours since a full rebuild. Good to see you got it sealed back up. As always, nice drone footage! Thank you Roosty!!
Hi Ed. I'm a little surprised this Magnum head gasket started leaking at 9000 hours. My old 2090 has about the same hours and that engine has never been apart.
I finished canola 40mins ago. 280 of barley and 40ac of green feed to go. This spring has seemed to drag on. May 5th was the first day i went. I heard theres some frost damages around with early seeded crop.
You are working some late hours but good to be done canola. I don't think I hit the field before the 10th of May here but things rolled along pretty good once I got going.
It is miraculous how it works. It just looks like some muddy water scooped out of a mud puddle but is has saved me. This is the second time I've had to use it on this engine. Was hard to find any locally for some reason.
@roosty6 dad's combine has been going with it for the same problem as your tractor for 8 years. We have a tractor with a cracked engine block, or we are assuming. As it would dump all of its antifreeze in the oil pan overnight. Irontite was suggested to dad and to add 2 cans. So we did it. And it held. Coming up 20 years as that was the fall of 2004. The yellow tandem with a 671 Detroit leaked antifreeze from everywhere. Did the same treatment in 2010 or so. I think the brown grain truck got it for a rad leak. Obviously, it's still holding because it's foggy remembering, lol.
That's too bad about the head gasket. It looks like you've taken great care of the tractor though. I'm sure its worth the work to get it fixed. It sounds like you're talking about a major overhaul if you have to replace the O rings in the sleeves

I like your farm Roosty6 .

@@roosty6 every tractor is different. Can be 2 of the same model and year. One might make 2000 hours, the other might make 20,000.

@roosty6 a few breakdowns, and a bunch of tires slowed me at first. Then 6 days out of the field from rain. So I'd say we lost 9 to 10 days total.
I keep irontite on hand. Like a miracle that stuff lol.

So, are you going to get that head gasket fixed in the off season?
I have high hopes but the off season seems to go by so fast and before I know it I need the tractor again.
