I still use the old manual control because I just bought my first property. Looks like this will be another thing I need to look into. These videos have been super helpful! Thank you for make such great content.
Love the video, I was deciding on Nest vs Ecobee, but now I know what to chose. Quick Question, how did you integrate Ecobee to know if a guest is present at the airbnb? Did you use a tool like IFTTT or a PMS system? Thank you in advance!
We actually prefer honeywell, the company has an industry reputation of actually being not only just the instruments manufacturer but also the HVAC equipment and technology itself. I've heard from too many people and experienced HVAC text that the nest thermostat sometimes taxes the motherboard causing it to run an efficiently burning it out causing a shorter lifespan. No experience with ecobee, but looking forward to the information inside this podcast
My carrier HVAC dealer /company refused to install a Nest unless I signed a waiver or release of liability for them and strongly discouraged it based on their experience with many problems like the other commenter mentioned.
You mentioned that with the ecobee you can shut down the system between reservations. Would you be open to telling me which feature you are using for this? I am struggling to nail down which feature works best for this.
I am looking for a smart thermostat for an airbnb property (heating only as no a/c) . I need it to have the function where the ONLY function that the guests can access is turning the heat off or boosting it incrementally for up to say 6 hours maximum. I need it so that guests are unable to override this setting. Does this or any other thermostat have this available in the settings ? thanks !
We run 51 properties and we are beginning to swap to ecobee. From what I've researched it looks like the account limit is 16 devices. Has anyone found this to be different? Would love a system that doesn't cap me but have been unsuccessful finding one.

Ty!
Can you lock out certain settings on the Ecobee, so your renters can't mess with it?
Yes, Access Control within the ap allows you to control what settings are accessible from the main unit.

I have 5 Nest thermostats setup with my nest app. I don’t use the learning part of the thermostat.
Nice!
How's that worked out long run? I hear a lot of bad things about nest damaging HVAC systems or taxing them where they don't last long?
