I tried many different voicings of the chords, but after listening carefully and playing along with both the studio version and version 1 on the Matrix tapes, THIS is the right version. Well done. As one of the other commenters put it, "barre chords galore." Not how I would have done it if I'd written the song, but I'm not Lou Reed!

thanks. very nicely done. I don't play but I'd been thinking about singing it . that bit at 1:15 - 1:25 is so weird .... I've never heard anyone sing notes that sound 'right' !
I'm sure that OP has figured it out or moved on by now, but if you're having trouble with this, it's because the chord progression is chromatic (also there's a key change in the vocals, so that's just generally hard when the accompaniment is so disjointed) so it just naturally sounds dissonant. This is something that you'll want to work on in steps, so start with getting the key change right a capella, then focus on staying in tune while listening to the accompaniment. For a while, you'll probably veer out of tune, but if you take your time with it and practice consistently you'll get the hang of it.

This might be a bit late but I believe he is replacing the final downstroke of the A# with a single G# plucked on the low E string, he is using a chord shape while only playing a single note to make the transition to the G7 chord quicker.
@@arseniy1329 Lou played it with chords in key of C, but with guitar tuned down two steps (making it b flat) to help with Maureen's limited vocal range
Erika Loyo you have to sort of mash your pinky down so that it frets strings 2, 3 & 4 on the 3rd fret. Index catches fret 1 on string 5. Don’t worry about string 1, your pinky will pretty much mute it and that “F” isn’t present in the chord on the recording anyway. The tuning on the record is a full step down, D G C F A D, and then you play more open chords so it’s C, A7, Dm, G etc. A lot easier to play hat way.
Yes , he did. He wrote some beautiful songs , not always a crazed drug -addled rocker. Pale Blue Eyes , Sunday Morning, and this are all examples of his softer side. Sister Ray is the other side - crazy. I’m talking about the Velvets here. His solo stuff is also eclectic ( Metal Machine Music vs Perfect Day. Anyway I’m fucking rambling , it’s cos Im Waiting For The Man. “ everything in that song is true-except the price “
Nice. But this is not how Lou Reed played it. His guitar was tuned down two steps so Maureen Tucker could sing in tune, and played with open chords as if in key of C (actually B flat). This is a very simple song that can be played easily.
This song is harder than I thought it would be lol
Exactly!!
haha...yes.
It's the barred chords man
LOL i give up, exactly when i see it in the first place
easy
Awesome song to practice to build up hand/forearm strength for those barre chords.
Don't give up too soon newbies
And if you close the door....👍

Loved this song from the first time I heard it.
It'll help with the early blues/jazz stuff too.
Thank you so much for sharing!
I think so. It I thi k they mightve been in drop tuning. On the og
This is really cool! I want to thank you a lot for putting it on here. You really went all out - especially with the chord legend. Thanks again!

Doesn’t seem so tough, I’ll pick it up.
Play the song in C with the guitar tuned down a whole step. If I was a betting man, I’d guess this is how Lou did it.
agree
Yes. The way this dude is playing it is nuts lol. There's no reason to makes something this simple more difficult

If you don’t like barre chords try this in C
c a7 dm g
Ecc ecc
Anyone got transposition og these chords yet??
Damn howd you get so good??? Haha, I love it. How long have you been playing?
i prefer c7 and f7 instead of Cm and F. c7 = x3231x. f7 = 13124x. also, g7 = 35346x sounds more like recording.
This is amazing! So helpful, and thank you for the tabs! What exactly is the chord you're playing at 1:06?

C is an easier key to play this great tune in
John Gonsalves but it’s not the original key tho. Sure if might be better for new players tho but not original

Nice , i use to play this with c a7 dm g ecc....
Angus Mckinnon young tune guitar a whole step down if you wanna be in key to the song
Teh Figster thanks I’ll try
Hi, do you mind if I use this for a school project? It will remain inside the school and won't be monetized.
thats just an incredible skill you got here,I wish i can play this cover as well as you did,can you tell me the tab?where can i find it?
in the description!
can you tab me, please?
what guitar is that?
Does a tab exist?

After the rest notes how long do you wait before coming back in?
Just listen to the song you will catch the thing :)
I don't get how are you doing that Bb :(

What are the chords

What's the beginning chord ? ??

What model is this? I assume its a martin.
