Before the launch, one of the scientists took Laika home to play with his children. In a book chronicling the story of Soviet space medicine, Dr. Vladimir Yazdovsky wrote, "Laika was quiet and charming...I wanted to do something nice for her: She had so little time left to live." :( look at the sky on the 3rd of November and remember the brave little dog called Laika that now lives among the stars..

Kinda silly how bent out of shape westerns get over this dog that died half a century ago, whereas they never spare a thought for all the strays running around Moscow today, being abused and neglected.
If he wanted to really do something nice he could have swapped Laika out with a similar looking dog that was terminally ill or something. But that would have risked his job and presumably their monitoring equipment had already recorded Laikas vitals under normal conditions as a baseline.
This track should have as many views in millions as it has the years since the upload.

God, I wanna hug this doggie! The US doesnt really know about her anymore but, I do. Such a sad story. i just wanna hug her! Atleast this song is about her, and i think what she must have felt emotionally..."abandoned"..... and hopefully nothing like this EVER happens again... with dogs or monkeys or anything ALIVE.

I read that her real, original, name was Kudryavka. "Laika" is the name of her dog race. She PAINFULLY died either from overheating inside the capsule because of a mechanical failure, stress, complete depletion of oxygen OR more likely, from all of these reasons. She should have been granted euthanasia, but she wasn't. They just waited for her to die. it was too cruel....

I'm watching this in the evening before going to sleep, after a nice day with friends around me. I'm drunk and high, and it's been a good day, but yet I have a melancholic feeling in me, as usual. But I'm feeling good insight. My head is on the pillow, and my left eye is blinded by the softness of it, so what I see on the screen seems three-dimensional. That, combined with my highly relaxed state of mind and body, makes me feel like I'm actually sitting in that car at this specific time of day watching the street lights pass by driven by a mysterious driver beside me, of whom I only get to see the right arm.
