As a Catholic woman who has received communion in that fashion, I can see how he took it as being disrespectful towards the Faith. Communion involves receiving the Body and the blood, but they are not at the same time so you would not see the cup of wine.
Receiving communion is traditionally received on the knees. It was only ok'd in the last decades because people were abusing the rules and receiving in the hand, to which the church shrugged their shoulders and said it was fine. In the traditional Latin mass, receiving on the hands is still considered sacrilegious, and it always has been viewed that way until very recently

Whitmer was definitely mocking Chrisrians who receive communion. I have been an a secular humanist since I was 21, but was confirmed in the MO Synod Lutheran Church at 13, after 2 years of instruction by my pastor. While many denominations use both wine/grape juice and wafers/crackers in their communion, Catholic priests only dispense wafers to the congregation. Those Doritos were totally meant to substitute for wafers, and mock Catholics. Someone chime in if you know know any other religious denomination which only uses the wafer part as opposed to both portions (bread and wine) in their sacramen of communion.

You're correct. We actually are not supposed to receive wine at every Mass. We call it "species" and you are considered to have received a complete communion with only the Host in the Roman rite. It didn't change until 1977 when the American Catholic bishops thumbed their noses at the Pope.and allowed receiving both the host and wine, as well.as receiving in the hand. The rules never changed, they just decided to implement their own change.

I’ve been a Pentecostal Christian many years and went to many different. Pentecostal churches some of them use real wine and some some of them use a grape juice. The current one I attend uses both. I don’t know if we used wafers, but I do know we used unsalted crackers, which was unleavened bread, which is basically the same thing.
The use of Doritos is because Kamala said that’s her favorite snack food. I don’t think it’s reaching to notice the collar of the white shirt over her sweater - it’s a school uniform look, not a grown woman style.

Communion has nothing to do with Catholic school or uniforms. You do it in church, wearing street clothes or your Sunday best.
You kneel in front of the priest and he feeds you a communion wafer (the body of Christ). Have you seen any of these others kneeling like this and being given the food in the manner of a priest giving a communion wafer?

Real traditional communion is taken on your knees, not standing like they do nowadays. Also, you’re not supposed to touch the host. It is placed on your tongue.
When I was a kid, we went to Latin mass and that is how communion was given. The priest placed the wafer on your tongue and you would be kneeling. In english mass we would be standing but, the priest still placed the wafer on the tongue. It wasn't until the 1980's that we started getting communion in our hand and placed it in our mouth . Didn't partake of the wine until years after that.

I’m Roman Catholic and I used to be a Eucharistic Minister. Some people kneel just like that lady did when she accepted the Dorito. They receive the holy communion wafer on the tongue just like that. They don’t do all that extra facial stuff and body movement that that woman did. The Holy Communion wine isn’t distributed every Sunday. It’s usually distributed on special occasions because you can receive the body and blood of Jesus Christ through the holy communion wafer. Just as if you receive the holy communion wine. The holy communion wine is usually reserved for those people who cannot eat wheat or gluten intolerant as well. Gretchen Whitmer, and that other lady were very disrespectful of our Catholic holy communion.
I grew up in Boston.... You go into any Irish or Roman Catholic's house over the age of 60, and they had a picture of JFK on their mantle next to Jesus. Catholics used to be PRETTY democratic, at least in my neck of the woods. Not so much anymore.
