NZ is about it's spectacular landscapes, (mountains, glaciers, lakes, geysers etc). People's jaws hit the ground when they see the mountain vistas. If you have only seen Auckland you have missed the best of NZ and everything most tourists travel to NZ to see

I think the airport problem relates to your passport. Passport (PPT) rankings is a rating system rating it's strength based on the country's quality of life, financial positioning and more importantly includes how many countries it allows the person to visit and which countries. Cameroon passports currently rank 60 in the world, sounds decent except each tier often holds more than one country (number 1 is United Arab Emirates, no 2 is France/Germany/Italy/Netherlands/Luxembourg/Spain/Austria/Switzerland, no 3 etc etc) and Cameroon lists along with many other countries where visas can only be granted on successful application. Cameroon can visit 60 countries visa free, for reference New Zealand at no 6 can visit 173.
Sorry for the long chat man, but I heard you say it may have been to do with skin colour and I couldnt stop thinking about it for a few hours lol I dont think Immigration NZ is so prejudiced only because loads of black American's visit no problem or black British peeps. I believe it is the strength of your passport, unfortunate but if you watch "Border Security" a reality show filming life at Sydney International airport there are many scenes with people of all colours going through the same checks you experienced. The CBD is only a tiny part of our big Auckland city! You stayed in a crappy hotel when there’s so many more beautiful accomodations out there! Plan your trip well the next time! It is also worth visiting the South Island! Check out some UA-cam videos of NZ, then you will see how much you have missed! All the best for your future trips!

Yeah as others have said, that gentlemen who "punched" you is one of the most famous and prominent people in the entire country, he was knighted by the Queen of England and NZ for services to the country.

I'd recommend to others, if they're coming from Sydney or Melbourne to NZ (with limited time) for the first time, they should skip Auckland and go to the South Island instead...otherwise, they'll be a little disappointed. ❤ My humble opinion.

Hey Ivan, New Zealand is for beautiful scenery not night life excitement. You need to go to the Bay of Islands in the North or go to South Island and visit Queenstown and experience the beauty of the place. As for your experience at Customs. You had all the ear marks of the usual drug dealer M.O. Short stop overs, very little luggage and they usually have a US passport! So that did not help you. They have had Americans in particular as drug couriers. I have seen young white Americans male and female on Border Force Security T.V. show doing exactly that. It wasn't your colour that attracted them. It was your lack of travel plan, knowledge of what you wanted to do etc. Hope you have a great time in Fiji it is also a place to just chill and enjoy the scenery though. Melbourne is the place for night life and Restaurants etc. Hope you enjoy the rest of your trip and have a safe journey where ever you go.

Just sad that a 2-day visit to downtown Auckland, a day trip to Waiheke, having a couple of drinks too many perhaps, and your opinion of our country is not very complimentary. But all good bro. NZ is famous for its breathtaking landscapes. You did not really showcase much, other than a little bit of Auckland and 3 random guys. I mean the interaction with the 3 guys was funny but you missed out on going to Wellington and going to Maori culture tours.

The problem with New Zealand that is Boring ! New Zealand is beautiful fr sure but after some time you spend there it is boring ! Nothing to do ! Only bars and drinking ! Europe life you can’t compare ! In Europe you never boring always something happen ! Most of the young people in NZ good time is to get drunk ,smoke… very basic and boring ! NZ is the country you come for nature admiring but you not missing to coming back ! Also is very expensive and the wages are small compare to Australia !
