I'm of the belief that the reasons why you CAN'T do something (fund a business) is always easy to point out. How do you get resourceful and figure out a way to fund it? Based on your comment above- 90% of businesses would've never gotten funding. If you continue to think of all the reasons why you cannot make your dreams happen, you'll never be successful. PERIOD. The most successful entrepreneurs, were resourceful and figured it out despite their circumstances.
I don’t think we should be taking out a $350k loan if you have none of these 🤣 I only get paid say $75-90k and I put $10-20k in savings every year instead of partying so when I’m 26 I’ll have enough to buy my own business at least a small one. My parents were never around I actually don’t have any family left besides a couple cousins. They’re worse off than I. So a loan against a house is out of the question. Still managed to get a nice rv for super cheap best decision ever. I live anywhere. No rent. Don’t have to drive if I don’t want too. And still have a nice toyota car for commutes. It’s about sacrifice. Those of us putting in the work are going to leave you all behind. Never went to college never will

Beware about using your retirement. I have several businesses and I used some of my retirement money to fund one of my business. There are a lot of cons to doing this and if you don’t understand them and comply, you can be fined enormous amounts of money. Trust me I know. I was fined about $75,000 by the IRS. Fortunately, I was able to get the fines forgiven.
Great point. The companies that offer ROBS plans should certainly make sure to be thorough in explaining the pros and cons, and regulatory requirements. Using retirement funds definitely would not be my first choice, but if it's your only choice- make an educated decision! Thanks for your insights.

Sounds like you need to build some credit, or try to borrow money from friends or family. But think about this- if you have no credit, no money, no assets- would you lend money to yourself?
You can't get stuck on creating an LLC, that takes 5 minutes. Go to your states Secretary of State website to do it. You also don't need an LLC to start taking action and making money.

I doubt it- the lender will give money based on YOU. If those items not matching come up, you can fix it then. Lenders care about one thing...your ability to repay them.

So long story short if you don't already have money you get to just stay poor and keep working a dead-end job until you die. My how the American dream has truly died. Literally every movie and TV show I've watched about starting a business was a complete lie. You basically have to have money already to start a business then pray you make money long enough for a bank to even sniff in your direction for a loan. Whatever happened to pitching an idea to a bank with a sound business plan and completing market research and securing a loan to start a business. Nowadays apparently if you aren't already rich you stay poor.
That sort of victim mentality will keep you poor. It’s not about your resources, it’s about your resourcefulness. My first job I made $6 an hour. My first salaried job I made $34k a year. I stayed positive and faithful while working my tail off.

Don’t sign a personal guarantee. Depending on the loan type, a lender will require a PG.

Unlikely. Grants can be hard to come by. Everyone wants a shortcut. Basically the question is- can someone just give me free money without me having to have the responsibility of paying it back...
It is very likely! His comment was a bit discouraging. I know plenty of women who've gotten grants pre-revenue. Some grants are okay with it and some aren't.
And grants aren't a short cut. That was very annoying. Why would they exist? Women and POC have great opportunities to receive a grant and more than one. 🤍

So long story short if you don't already have money you get to just stay poor and keep working a dead-end job until you die. My how the American dream has truly died. Literally every movie and TV show I've watched about starting a business was a complete lie. You basically have to have money already to start a business then pray you make money long enough for a bank to even sniff in your direction for a loan. Whatever happened to pitching an idea to a bank with a sound business plan and completing market research and securing a loan to start a business. Nowadays apparently if you aren't already rich you stay poor.
That sort of victim mentality will keep you poor.
