i've been watching a lot of reactions videos for XG and i'm so glad i stumbled on to your video. because it really helped illustrate what i had been feeling about this particular song and music video. the music theory behind it is amazing. (and yes, those 9th chords are insanely beautiful) but beyond that, i think the visual story they told amplified the structure of the song. at the beginning of the track, you mentioned the jazzy upright bass and high hat swing. but how they visualized the musicality was genius. that particular section felt like the soundtrack of a classic james bond or heist film. and seeing the visual of the "bad guy" and then seeing cocona infiltrating the enemy was amazing. the marriage of the visuals and the music was exquisite. and this isn't the only part that was amazing. there are so many moments in this music video where it aligns magnificently with the song... right up to where it ends. it's like the perfect soundtrack to the short action film we just watched which then begs the question - was this all pre planned? did the music inform the visuals? or was it the other way around?
Honestly, would love to hear a tiny desk version of this song. I can only imagine how jazzy and cool it would sound with Just live instruments. Considering mixing a version of this song myself bcuz i just can't stop humming it all the time 😭😭
I appreciate this video so much! I love the production of XG's songs, glad someone broke this one down in particular. It left me speechless after my first listen (sans the MV, which for me is the right way to listen to this song for the first time haha).

Yes, subbed for juice like this video. I love a good break down of great writing and composition.
i hope they use instruments more, i think this is their best produced song
I’m now a fan of minor 9 chords 🥰 Thank you so much for the breakdown 💗
You're super talented! I love your XG covers!!
I think they took reference from Thriller by MJ on the chorus it's sound identical, that "awoo" part
🐺👽
