Wow, I remember when I got my voltron... It was my 10th birthday. I have never been so happy. and yes, I still have it.... not the cheap plastic one, but the original matchbox diecast one. He has a special place of honor in my home theater room. toys were so much cooler back then
as a tiny kid, I could never convince my parents that all five lions were a sensible investment - it was just too ridiculously expensive, so I had a leg and an arm ... and that was good enough for me!! I was incredibly obsessed with the show when I was four ... hard to believe it was nearly 30 years ago!
Yeah now i'm forthy and i still have my die cast Daitarn 3,Zambot 3,Gundam,Daimos...not in good conditions, but they are in my living room remembering how sweet was these days
@boxingjessie I had all 5 lions, but I wasn't rich at all. My dad was a cop, and cops don't make shit. They scrimped and saved for all 5 lions and that was the big Xmas present that year. I still have my Voltron lions, and they ain't goin' on eBay! :D
I remember this commercial as a kid. My aunt bought me the Matchbox Lion Voltron Japanese version for christmas. I had the matchbox version all metal, the real one, not the knock off plastic version, which I thought were lame ones. I love this Robot even till this day. Unfortunately, some S.O.B. stole it from me. I never knew who did, I suspect it was some jealous cousin of mine. I have not gotten over this, and I am still bitter about this and I am 41 years old. I was fortunate enough to buy the new bandai lion voltron (Japanese Version) that came out 2 years ago, and trust me I have it heavily guard it, LOL. I made up from the one that was stolen from me back in 1985.

Man, these old commercials are so funny to me now. Back then, the idea of having those huge combiner robots; Transformers/Voltron, in our small child hands was so coveted! lol They were so physically huge and heavy in our hands. And now we're all adults and these same toys are what we continue to covet! Haha.
fatroc33 I remember that price to or was it $60. I remember it been displayed in a store. Before all the strip malls started popping up there was the Ave here where it was a bunch of stores. Parents will never go for it. I eventually got a small knock off version. $50 today is $110.
I can't believe I found this toy. Before that, I had the Trendmasters die-cast version and still do today, but this one is the vintage 1984 original and has more metallic colors too.
I completely agree. I always remembered toys being real die cast metal back in the 80s, not cheap plastic. Back then, if your foot broke because your toy fell on it, then that toy was well made! Haha

@mourningstar01: Power rangers or "Super Sentai" in japanese domestic release, has been going on longer than Voltron ever did. That being said, I am more partial to Voltron as I watched it as a kid and not Power Rangers (yes, I am older than 20) and it therefore has a place in my heart that nothing else can take.
I bought the whole season.. I wish I could be alive when those toy came out... I find them at eBay but they r expensive now, and forget. To much not enough money for that, may be when im rich
No well in Hell would are parents spend 3-400$ for a Voltron back in the 80s like Voltron toys and collectables are now. And no way would any toy company get away with the insane prices they are now.

Great toy. I used to have one and kept it immaculate with box for some reason. Too bad my mom gave it away to someone. Its worth alot of money now.
Lol the curly hair kid with glasses 😂
He's supposed to be Pidge!
Pidge?😂
This was shot in New York City, because you can see the World Trade Center in the background.
Form Blazing Sword!
One of the legs came off my red lion.
Why was there like a New York skyline 🌃 backdrop for this??
I thought it took place in Planet Arius! smh 🤦♂️
00:16 damn even Voltron couldn't stop 9/11
