We aren’t dressing for intimidation, we are dressing for the threat.

Plus the gang members have 7.62 bullets. We only carry small arms.

They had a cop respond to a simple trespass call; the criminal stabbed the cop in the neck, and the store security pounced on him, saving the cop and stopping the criminal from getting away. The moral of the story is security and cops' risk great bodily harm.

People are making the uniform issue a bigger issue than what it needs to be. The individual in the video was not wearing tactical gear. He was wearing an outer carrier. The word “tactical” is being used in a way that it shouldn’t be. Now to each their own, but the outer carrier was designed to get equipment off the duty belt to help take tension off the back and hips. People need to start asking themselves if they will still be able to perform their job without an outer carrier and all their equipment is on a duty belt?

I work "in house" armed in Florida for a high net worth development. Our uniforms are blue tactical pants, blue button down shirts, custom patches, collar brass, metal badges, radios with shoulder mic and firearms in level 2 or 3 holsters. We have matching, late model patrol SUVs with light/siren packages and a patrol boat for our Marina and perimeter. I have had more than one agressive person attempting to enter that has gotten loud until someone in group has noticed my sidearm or a coworkers and said something like.. "Oh they're armed" or "Oh Sh#! they have guns. Just a squared away uniform presents a person that looks professional and prepared. Many times that's enough. We respond to medicals (have AEDs/med kits), fire/burglar alarms, will clear houses, treat medicals, elevator rescue. We should have all the tools we need. We are treated well by our local PD, Sheriffs and Fire/Rescue because we are professionals that look and act the part. If PD, SO or Fire responds we work with them, they will even take cancels from us if we clear a property before they arrive. We are fortunate to have 3 to 4 guards and a Sergeant on shift 24/7 (plus Chief on days) so we can use numbers to our advantage as well. 3 SUVs come up fast all lit up it calms situations quickly. Again like you said your appearance matters. I enjoy your content Commander Hall. Stay safe. Hello from the Treasure coast.

Coming from one of the most crime plagued cities in the country i have a firm stance on security gear: if it’s enough that they’re paying you to carry a gun then a vest, 2 mags, at least one less lethal, and one pair of cuffs are just not debatable. As far as inner vs outer, how cute the uniforms are and all that other pointless stuff it really just depends on the company, officer, and area. I’ve been told i look too tactical at retail location (shoppers in coral hills, md) and true next day a guy walked up to the window and shot the cop that was standing next to the unarmed security guard that was assigned to that location. (I was his manager.) you can look it up. Happened last year. If you’ve been through any real use of force incident I’m sure you can understand.

The Walgreens in question is located in Seattle. In part of Seattle that one highest rates of crime rates in Seattle due to the fentanyl problem. The female that was complaining about the professional Security Officer was looking for attention and the Fox station in Seattle gave it her.
I’m with you Commander Hall, first the tactical uniform is deterrent to crime. Second it’s better to have the tactical gear and not use it, than have not the tactical gear and need it.

Retail protection should be in tactical gear in my opinion

Another good video.. I definitely agree a tactical look can absolutely deter crime. I’ve worked a few sites where the client wants a tactical look, and I live in Liberal New York lol.. you just gotta make sure your officers still look, professional, and are properly trained on anything they carry. Some guards have too much and don’t have things properly placed on there person.

I agree with the look for the same reason why i don’t believe in unarmed security. Security is meant to protect, it is an affront to the industry when security are hired on to be unarmed scarecrows who can’t even protect themselves. I will go as far to say that if you as a client don’t need armed security, you don’t need security at all; and there are plenty of places that NEED armed security who put people’s lives in danger by going the unarmed route.

It all depends on what the customer wants, location, scope of service etc. if the customer wants discrete, equip and dress yourself appropriately. If the customer wants a show of force. Go full wannabe Rambo. Personally I wouldn’t be caught dead with all that on. I would love to get into the observe and report scam. Easy money 💰💰💰

You know commander do you ever ask your self this if they know security so much of what they do and what they can’t do why aren’t they doing it you know and as for the uniforms u will never know when u might have to use all of that or need it like u said but now days people watch to much UA-cam and don’t do the research.

Trust me, deterrence theory is false. Only way it works is when you actually do your job and people learn the hard way. Go to a publix and you’ll get the same habitual thieves because they know nothing will be done. Even with security present.
Even criminals can spot a trained mind and an untrained mind based on attire and gear. I know one clown that wears plates improperly and has his belt gear all uncategorized looking like a mess and everyone even bosses from company and clients and LE makes fun of him.
I just quit retail security because there are no consequences when it comes to Publix security. Walmart has it right!
PS, for a serious crime such as a shooting, assault including grape or a combative subject, it doesn’t take law enforcement 20 to 30 mins or longer to respond. It’s called top priority and low priority calls.
