I've seen tens of videos about the timing chain issues and can claim these series (1-8) are definitely the most comprehensive video I've seen. Thank you. The only thing I would have like to see was changing the balance shaft. Maybe some other time. Again thank you for giving us the best video on this subject.
I have missfire codes on slk r171 i just bought but have only p0025 and p2004 . Which when i cleared engine ran smooth . Should i check timing gear either way since 2006 is effected yr
You could do all that but that will take a while. Since P0025 is a bank 2 error, I would swap a solenoid from bank 1 and see if the code moves to bank 1. If it does, the solenoid is bad. Of course, if you want to be more detailed, you can check the timing but I doubt that is the problem. For P2004, you likely have an intake manifold failure but you will need to make sure all your wiring, powers an grounds are fine (it could also be the ECM but this is unlikely) before you replace the intake manifold.
Great content and information, definitely deserves more attention. Also I know you said, that it must require those certain codes active at the same time for me to consider yanking the engine out. I have a m272 engine with the codes P0012, P0015, P0025. I’d really love to keep the vehicle, but if worst comes to worst i’ll have to sell it. Any ideas what should be my next steps?
If you want to go straight to the point, remove the cam sensors and turn your engine to 305 degrees on the harmonic balancer and see if your timing is good. This engine is plagued with timing issues so I would check that first before I do anything major. It may not even be that serious. I know they even had "recalls" with the camshaft adjusting solenoids.

@@offbeatmedia-farshad You’re welcome. My balance shaft was not damaged so I had no reason to replace them. Thank you!
