  • The last stop on our trip to Croatia was to see the best of Dubrovnik, the city that is considered the pearl of the Adriatic.
In Dubrovnik we spent four days but we concentrated everything we wanted to see inside the walled city that was the setting for the television series, Game of Thrones, in a few days that would serve for the typical UA-cam title of What to see in Dubrovnik in two days.
We began our visit at the west gate, the Pile Gate, which is where all the cruise excursions begin and we noticed that just as when we were in Split a couple of days before, hordes of tourists that make it very difficult to move around the city. Luckily we got the Dubrovnik Day Pass that allowed us to enjoy its main monuments for only €35. We must bear in mind that climbing the wall already costs that price and it is one of the monuments included in this card.
Upon entering the walled city, the first thing we saw was the original Onofrio Fountain with an octagonal plan. From there we headed down a less touristy street to the stairs of the church of San Ignacio, which became very famous for being part of Queen Sersei's walk of shame in Game of Thrones. By climbing this staircase we were able to enter the Church of San Ignacio.
Nearby was the Cathedral with its imposing dome and right in front of it was the Rector's Palace, an impressive building where we spent a couple of hours enjoying its interior. The next stop would be the Monastery of San Francisco, which reminded me a lot of a monastery in Huelva. For lunch we were surprised that there were some gastronomic days being held on the main street of Dubrovnik where you could taste typical dishes for free. With the batteries charged, it was the turn of the city's most popular monument, its Wall, with a walk of almost two hours surrounding the city from the height of this enormous work of engineering. Thanks to the Dubrovnik Day Pass we did not have to pay to enjoy an exhibition by the artist Andy Warhol at the Museum of Contemporary Art.
The next day we continued our visit through the east gate of the city, the Ploce Gate. From there we headed to the charming Old Port and then went to Gundulic Square and from there to Luza Square, the main square of Dubrovnik, where we visited the Sponza Palace and the Church of Saint Blaise, finishing our visit at the Church of Saint Savior.

Hola Milagros.
