Keybinds

Change gears [ and '
Change the levels in group one with ] and \.
Spacebar to switch between forward and reverse
Change from auto to manual ;
Cruise control is controlled via the keys 1, 2 and 3
You can change the button 4 to a second cruise control speed. The default speed is 10 km / h.
Hand Throttle - and =
Switch to second group Right shift + ] and ]
To switch between automatic and manure clutch Spacebar +Right shift
3 key together with the shift key (de-) activated the speed limiter
Right shift and 4 to set the current speed as cruise control speed.

come on Iain, you can do better than this....
If I was completely new to gearbox I'd now think its just a fancy way to make the tractor sound different and maybe add a few gears but its a lot more than this! Let me start off:
- gear speed and ratio are taken into account **
- possibility of adding the correct torque curve / fuel usage data in the XML **
- modern tractors can shift over into eco mode via Rshift + space (lower RPM for top speed etc)
- simulation of Hydrostatic, CVT, 1-Range, 2-Range gearboxes
- simulation of synchronised and not synchronised gearboxes (double clutch needed)
- simulation of power shuttle, power shift etc
**gearboxAddon contains pretty much all values for base game tractors in that regard + for some mods as well
Also that "thing there" that you referenced in the beginning is more than your engine off indicator - tells you everything you need to know about the state of the gearbox and so on. The clutch will not overheat when you shift to much but it will tell you its overheating when you ride the clutch to much (i.E to low speed for the gear you're in so the clutch always is partly engaged)
I implore you to spend more time with Gearbox Addon and revisit it later down the line for a proper review
Title this first impressions or basics or whatnot - for a review and/or comprehensive overview this is not!
Thanks for the info man. I just wanted to give people a general overview of the mod. I know there is more to it than what I presented.
I would add to FarmerBeavis comments- Gearbox works to give that extra dynamic to vehicles particularly when you couple the mod with others such as "fillTypesMassAdjustment" and "FuelUsageDisplay". You really use the gears when pulling a loaded trailer up hills or when plowing/cultivating and need to find the gear to give you the power needed for the particular job. I will remind viewers that these mods together will not allow you to "speed harvest or rush plow/cultivate...in other words you will need a bit of patience to do certain tasks. Like the MR mod of FS13 where it controlled vehicle speed (particularly on mods where tractors could do warp 5 across a field), these mods do the same thing and give the dynamic of what is would be like if actually doing these jobs. If you feel the need to turn your farming game into Need for Speed, this mod and the others are not for you.

How do you like the fill types mass adjustment mod? I've been pondering that for a while. I try to play very realistic.
I have a question: i have a tractor with 240hp and a machine thzt only needs 120hp and the speed it should be driven at is 20kph but i can only do max 9kph and sometimes it even goed to 3kph with max rpm, whzt do i do wrong?

i think the target audience for this video is plyrs like me that have never used gearbox before, and as such i thought it was just the right amount information. i'd rather first get a 20,000 ft view of what is obviously a very complex mod and if after i find it interesting i'll choose to investigate and learn more. great video - thanks Iain!

The keys can obv be changed to something more practical. I'm a keyboard and mouse guy, so my gears are R and F and my groups are T and G. I don't have a keyboard clutch, little short cut for my comfort :-)

did u have the same problem when you left the tractor running but then enter it again it had to start back up?
I love the idea of the Gearbox Mod, but in practice, it just doesn't feel natural to use. It seems like different tractors switch gears and ranges which can make it incredibly frustrating to use. Not only that but its awkward to use with a keyboard. I drive tractors fairly regularly and I can guarantee that it is much easier irl. The only way I can see this working is if you mapped every function to your mouse. Driving with gears IRL is fundamentally different than how it appears in game.

This is something that Daggerwin prolly asked for ...I know David was playing with a similar mod in FS17. This is not a mod for myself but for some they will enjoy it.
In the older days didn't they have the Hydrostatic Gearbox IRL? Is that still a thing?
Hydrostats are mostly a thing for combines and the like
GearboxAddon has the possibility to simulate that as well!
You never know he might enjoy using it. I know he likes his realism although he seems to have veered away from that a bit.
How do i prevent the clutch from overheating?
Anyone know how to configure so the tractor instantly accelerates with the pedal when using a steering wheel instead of slowly increasing the rpm?
Someone needs to make a video hauling a heavy load with the 1455. like a 45000 Liter trailer filled full. That tractor would sound great if you could shift fast

There are some vehicles in the game that have a CVT (constantly variable transmission) They can seem a little strange if you're not used to them since when accelerating the engine goes straight to max rpm while the speed steadily increases and when cruising the rpm drops to almost idle. There's no "gear change sound" since there is only one gear.

I like this mod. But! There is a problem with combine harvesters! If i want harvesting, continously flashing the high torque PTO warning, and after that the combine stopping! I just want to adjust this to higher torque, or want to switch off this function! How can I made this? I want to keep this mod for tractors,, but switch off for harvester! But if I switching off for combine, switched off for all machine in the game! Why? Why can't do this separately?

Hi . I have a question . This mod will work with other mods ? For example i put in old russian mtz tractor will it work like this ? Can i change the gears , like in the video ?
Tractors use a to h gear ranges tho dont they? Cause you can select speeds for each range from 1 to 4 in each range, cause I usually slap it in high gear and be gentle on the revs, older tractors are numbered gears like cars but defo not a challenger
They have a few options. It all depends on what you are doing with the tractor

The realistic/simple and auto/manual toggle is shown in the help box in top left of screen (ie. the F1 box)
Other than that...
[ is gear up
' is gear down
; is auto hold
] is change to high range
\ is change to low range
spacebar is toggle forward/reverse
+/- sets hand throttle
If all else fails you can stop the motor and turn the gearbox mod off with the keys shown in the help box.

im sure this may be a mod conflict but it seems that i have to turn the mod to realistic gearbox every time i get into a vehicle is there a way to set this so its always on are there any known conflicts that would cause this?

Alternatively, you can put just the gearbox mod in your mods folder and then see if it is a conflict

gearbox of MR mod can be deactivated so you still can use gearbox with it. Read up on it.
